I felt immediate stress, fear and anxiety come over me - as doctors were throwing around the word "induction". After reading and hearing horror stories about "inductions" I felt my birth plan to have another all natural birth went out the window. After talking to my husband.. we decided to hire Sherrie.. for her support and help to attempt my all natural birth.. the moment we hired Sherie she was available for all questions and concerns. She literally was always a call or text away.. and if she wasn't available at that exact moment.. I knew she was "catching a baby" and one day soon she'd catch mine! :) At 37 weeks I was scheduled to be induced.. I went in as nervous wreck, unsure of how things would play out. Sherie met us at the hospital the night before induction and made sure me and my husband were nice and comfortable, the next morning.. she was back again.. at my bed side - doing anything and everything to keep me comfortable.. and calm.. Long story short.. the Cervidil didn't work as planned and I was discharged to go home.. with in a half hour I was in labor .. Sherie stayed with us as we labored outside the hospital for 2 hours until I was further along in labor enough to be admitted again. Sherie was a rock for me and my husband during those 6 (long) yet quick hours of labor. Sherie brought out something in me that I never knew I had... I was able to find peace.. strength and endurance with her by my side.. She was not able to guide just me but also my husband as we brought our daughter into the world. Needless to say- I was able to have an all natural birth once again.. and I know I wouldn't have been able to do it with out her with us! I am for grateful. Once my daughter was born- Sherie's job didn't end there! She stayed with us a few hours after her birth,visited us in the hospital the next day and also at home a week or two later. She gifted us with lactation cookies (that were delicious ) and photos of our birth! She will always hold a special place in our hearts.. Thanks Sherie!

After having 2 natural…read more(no meds) hospital births that were not pleasant experiences by any means, I wanted to have a home water birth. Steven made sure I had just that. I did the research and found the absolute BEST midwife I could have ever prayed for. From the very beginning of our journey Christina Sanders made us feel like family. She included everyone in all of the appts, let's just say my 3 year old, Stori, is now a midwife in training. Everything about her and the world of midwifery, let us know we made the perfect decision. It was a very special intimate experience. Though natural labor is excruciatingly painful, being in my own space with my husband and daughter Ahmyiah by my side, along with Christina and Kristen Rud (Midwife in training) it was so peaceful and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. There was less stress, less anxiety, no stupid intake questions that had been answered 100000x before, nobody making you feel incompetent, nobody barking orders. Instead, It was perfect lighting, soothing warm water, Christina reassuring me that I'm doing great and to simply let my body do what it is naturally designed to do, all while surrounded by nothing but love! It's hard to fully describe, just know that it exceeded all of my expectations and I am beyond grateful that I had the opportunity to take this journey with so much love. The postpartum care was unexpected and soooo needed. 1 Day after they came back to check on both of us, bringing me tea and food to assist in the recovery process. Tinctures and herbs to soothe discomfort. 1 week they were back checking on us and providing me with more yummy treats. They even prepared the most beautiful floral/herbal bath for Xo and I to share. It was magical. The GIFTS they made for us OMG if I was a cryer Id have been balling...A couple weeks later I had some weird wacky things going on with my skin, most likely had to do with my liver needing to heal. Christina jumped right in to help me find awesome natural soap for the weird rash and she gave me another tea to help my liver recover, it worked! 6 weeks postpartum we went back to the office for our final check. It was bittersweet, knowing our prenatal journey was over and that would be the last time I'd sit in that office as a pregnant mama. As of today, Xo is 5 months old. We still keep in contact, and always plan to. Christina and Kristen are two beautiful women with hearts of gold that we never knew we needed!!!

They immediately made us feel comfortable at our first meeting. Both are warm, sincere, and obviously love what they do. They really helped educate, prepare, and empower us throughout my pregnancy. Our birth went according to our birth plan, with Taryn beside me as my advocate at Loma Linda the whole time. It was the most amazing and empowering experience, and not having to worry about making sure the staff followed my plan took a HUGE stress off my shoulders so I could focus on birth and bonding. Every single wish was honored. Taryn continued to be a valuable resource after, making my placenta capsules, assisting with breastfeeding and new mom questions, even coming over just to rub my feet! I sincerely think that the high number of interventions (drugs, complications, C-sections, etc.) would drastically reduce in this country if every woman, especially first time moms, had access to a personal doula. Absolutely 100000% worth every penny!! Even though I know the ropes this time around, I was honored to ask Taryn to be my doula again as we prepare for our second baby.

Me and my husband regularly asked her a LOT of questions and she always met us with knowledge, or shared studies of all ends of the spectrum to help us make an informed decision. At one point we asked for affirmations with verses and if she had any, and within a week we had a full packet of them she put together for us! Katharine was SO amazing to putting together our birth plan, from phrasing things correctly and editing it to ensure the hospital knew exactly what we wanted, and once at the hospital she was very direct with the staff on what we were striving for. We weren't alone in all of our goals and desires. During labor she was no nonsense, got RIGHT down to whatever needed to be done. From shaking me to setting the mood during labor to holding my hand and grabbing my granola bars. During the day of laboring she walked with us and guided us in every step and I'm extremely grateful for her and her assistance in bringing my son into the world! Katharine helped me prepare and be able to have a non medicated and quick labor, and truly we feel like she was an invaluable part of the process for our family!
