We decided that with our for sure LAST baby we would do things differently. After having 2 natural (no meds) hospital births that were not pleasant experiences by any means, I wanted to have a home water birth. Steven made sure I had just that. I did the research and found the absolute BEST midwife I could have ever prayed for. From the very beginning of our journey Christina Sanders made us feel like family. She included everyone in all of the appts, let's just say my 3 year old, Stori, is now a midwife in training. Everything about her and the world of midwifery, let us know we made the perfect decision. It was a very special intimate experience. Though natural labor is excruciatingly painful, being in my own space with my husband and daughter Ahmyiah by my side, along with Christina and Kristen Rud (Midwife in training) it was so peaceful and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. There was less stress, less anxiety, no stupid intake questions that had been answered 100000x before, nobody making you feel incompetent, nobody barking orders. I came across Christina in a very organic way of referral from other midwives. I was very pleased by her entire vibe the moment I saw her beautiful plants and bohemian office space that smelled so good every time I walked in. I didn't know if it was from the spices in her small apothecary for her birthing and postpartum care or from the tea she always offered at each check-up. I had a beautiful and relatively easy birth in the comforts of my home with candles and sound bowls in the background. She was always so attentive and softly guiding me through the next step sometimes with no sound, sometimes with a soft whisper. When I was in my first trimester with my third baby our family was about to move to a new area and I was worried about finding the right midwife for a home birth. I must start by saying, Christina genuinely loves people. It showed in her desire to care for each individual of our family, not just the mom or baby she is tending to. About 5 months so I had my 3rd child with Christina's help/care. My prior child was born at Rancho Springs and the whole experience was a sh*t show. I was always interested in having a home birth and after that I was convinced that this was the time to go for it. I hired Christina but kept my OB and continued care with both, just in case. But in truth, I got far better care with Christina. She proactively asked me questions about how my diet was, sleep, emotions, and had great advice and suggestions when I had any issue. Also, one of the best parts, the prenatal appointments are at your own home! I was wasting over an hour of my day for 5 minute check-in's with my OB, not to mention needing child care each time because due to Covid-19 you couldn't bring them with you. Christina was very flexible about appointments and never rushed us at all and always included my other kids if they wanted it. My birth was relatively smooth and uncomplicated and it was such a nice change to be in a dim, quiet, private area instead of the bright, loud hospital. When we found out we were expecting our third baby I knew right away I wanted a home birth, but was so confused on how to find a midwife that I would connect with on such an intimate level. After a few phone calls Christina was the only one a could feel her friendly energy through the phone. I should mention that my pregnancy took place during the 2020 Covid pandemic. As a first-time mama, I wanted to have a home birth instead of the traditional hospital birth. After searching for weeks for a mid-wife, we were extremely fortunate to find Christina and accept her as our midwife. We were constantly being turned down due to our daughter's due date around Christmas. Throughout my pregnancy journey, Christina provided me with many resources and home remedies (which I absolutely loved) to help with some minor problems I encountered. I loved how knowledgeable Christina was about pregnancy, labor, postnatal, and etc. She provided me with lots of information that surely put my mind at ease from books, articles, and her kind spirit during my journey. As mentioned, this was my first pregnancy, so I had no idea what to truly expect when the time came. Around 4:12am on Dec 15th, I was going to the restroom when something sorta fell out from between my legs. I had no clue at the time that it was my mucus plug. Shortly after, I began experiencing light cramping in which I thought were Braxton hicks. Although these were early signs of labor, I had no clue because my 'light cramps' were 12 minutes apart lasting 60-90 seconds. I then tried going back to sleep and was in and out of sleep until around 8am, a gush of fluid came pouring down my leg as I was heading to the restroom. At this time, I was still unaware that I was actually in labor, but I proceeded to inform Christina of everything. She confirmed I was in labor; however, I was still in denial because things were progressing so quickly and not to mention, my 'light cramping' didn't feel like contractions at all. Christina instructed me to eat, curb walk to make sure the baby was in position, and relax as much as possible before the hard work began. I began to panic a bit because I wasn't ready (baby girl was a few days early and I expected her to be late) but Christina's calm and soothing energy kept me at peace during early laboring. Christina called to check in on me around 11:10am and my contractions were still manageable lasting about 65 seconds and 7 minutes apart. Around 1pm, Christina checked in again. My contractions were 4 minutes apart, lasting for about a minute. The intensity of my contractions was starting to pick up a bit, but I didn't need her just yet. She reminded me to stay hydrated and also told my fiancé to start the rice congee meal she provided to us (which was deeeelish by the way!) By 2:50pm, I asked my fiancé to fill the pool and call Christina because the contractions were now intense, and I wanted her there to keep me calm. She came within a matter of 15 minutes and immediately rushed to my needs. The moment she walked into the room I felt at ease although I called her name about 50 times asking her was, she was sure I was in labor haha. I was in so much pain at the moment I asked her to check to see if I was dilating because I just wanted it to be over. At one point, I said "just take me to the hospital because I can't do it." She looked at me and said YOU CAN DO IT and YOUR BODY WAS MADE TO GIVE BIRTH. She then started to breathe with me and encouraged me to change positions in the pool. After an hour in the pool, she suggested I tried sitting on the toilet so gravity can work with me and not against me. By this time, I stopped keeping track of my contractions... my finance and Christina informed me when they were coming, and I just breathed and moaned through them. Although I loved the comfort of the warm water, I knew I needed to transition somehow to get my baby girl out. Once my contraction was over, Christina and my fiancé helped get me out of the pool and walked me over to the toilet. Within 10 minutes of sitting on the toilet, I suddenly felt the urge to PUSH and began yelling, clenching on to my partner and long behold, I started to push, and my daughter came out in 1 push!!! I remember asking "Do I keep pushing" but it was too late... she was already out and in her daddy's arms. Christina quickly rushed over to assist, and it was a bliss from there. As me, my partner, and my sweet baby girl moved to the bed to soak up the moment, Christina began cleaning up and washing everything while her assistant brewed some yummy postpartum tea for me. Christina is a beautiful human. I came to her very late in my third pregnancy because I was feeling the urge to have things differently than with my first two. I was already about 35 weeks when Christina accepted me as a client and I couldn't be happier that she did!! My first baby was born vaginally in the hospital with an epidural. My second was born vaginally med-free in a hospital. Lastly, this baby was born in the comfort of my home and if I could go back in time to do all of them this way I WOULD!! Wow. Absolutely incredible experience with our home birth and prenatal care. Having 2 hospital births previously we knew with our 3rd we wanted to do a home birth so we could be completely in control. Christina made that possible for us. Each prenatal visit is so personal and never rushed. She explains the pros and cons of each newborn procedure and birth preferences and then 100 percent let's you decide with zero judgment. She cares about how you're feeling and suggests natural remedies to cope with the common pregnancy complaints. Exact opposite of the medical care we have received before and exactly what we wanted. During labor She is so calm and attentive and allows your birth to progress naturally with no added stress. I was able to get in my calm zone as I prepared for for months and stay in it until I delivered. She was there when I needed her to push on/rub my back during a contraction when my husband left the room for a few min to check on our other 2 children. After delivery was so amazing and the environment always stayed calm. I got to snuggle and hold baby as long as I wanted with nobody yanking her away from me to poke and prod and measure her. The after care and advice we have received has been amazing as well. We decided to encapsulate the placenta and we received a few little keepsake surprises with it including a beautiful placenta stamp & umbilical cord spelling out "love". The postpartum meals have been SO yummy (thank you Brock!) and I love that I know I'm eating nourishing foods my body needs. Christina and Amanda have exceeded expectations in every way. My husband and I knew right from the start that choosing Christina to be our midwife was the right decision. When we met Amanda, it was like icing on top of the cake. We moved an hour away from our home and our OB. I had two young children and my husband worked an hour and a half away, and I was stressed about having to drive myself to the hospital with two littles when it came time to have the baby. We started looking into home births, and I found Christina via yelp. I was already 25 weeks along at this point, and I couldn't help comparing their home visits to a typical OB appointment. While OB appointments are rushed and I often felt like my questions didn't get answered, their home visits were the opposite. Christina and Amanda took the time to connect with me and make sure all of my concerns were addressed. The two of them have a way of making you feel at peace, and I never doubted my decision to go on this journey with them. They were both extremely professional and simultaneously brought a calming presence into our home while I was in labor. Christina recorded my daughter's birth (with my permission, of course) and I watched it a few weeks after. I could hear the two of them encouraging me along and reassuring me throughout the entire process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a home birth. I often find myself missing the two of them now that our time together is over and my daughter is here. We feel extremely blessed to have gone on this journey with the two of them. About 5 months ago, I had the true pleasure of getting to work with Christina to deliver my 2nd babygirl safely and confidently at home. I interviewed multiple midwives in the area in the early stages of pregnancy, and it was Christina that made me feel calm and peaceful, at ease, empowered, and completely safe during my journey. She took so much time to get to know me and address and unpack all of my concerns, anxieties, and worries during each and every appointment. She would bring things up that were so important for my mental health to discuss each visit, and I know talking through so these things so many times really helped me feel as prepared as I could possibly feel leading up to labor and delivery. We had an incredible time together when my daughter was born. I had my best friend who is a doula here, another doula, my partner, and Christina and her assistant. Everyone kept telling me how impressed they were with her and her demeanor the entire time. She's truly so calm and present... I never felt concerned or out of control. She held my hand, she squeezed my back, she gave me a wink and chuckle when she needed to. After having a few issues with the midwife that attended my first birth my husband and I were anxious to find someone that would work better for our family. We were so happy to find Christina and her assistant Amanda! During the pregnancy her home visits were wonderful. When I went into labor she was attentive and arrived fast at my home as soon as I needed her. The birth went smoothly thanks to her. The most significant moments in my life were giving birth to my children, so it's hard to put into words how much it meant to me to have Christina with me through my most recent pregnancy and birth, trusting her 100% through it all. I met with Christina as a referral from my chiropractor as I was hoping to become pregnant soon with my third baby. I did become pregnant but unfortunately had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I hadn't chosen a midwife yet but since I had already met Christina, I asked her a lot of questions and she was a great resource to me as well as genuinely caring about me and checking up on me. When I became pregnant again shortly after, I knew I wanted Christina to be my midwife since I had already seen her caring spirit during my loss. At our first appointment I burst into tears upon hearing my baby's heartbeat. I didn't know it would affect me so much, but I was so relieved that my baby was alive and healthy. Christina was so calm, gentle and reassuring. She made me feel comfortable with my emotions and concerns but she also encouraged me to visualize a healthy pregnancy and delivery and not to focus on my worry due to my miscarriage. During the pregnancy, Christina and her student midwife Amanda (equally amazing) came to my house for every visit (giving me motivation to keep my house somewhat presentable!) and they were great with my other two daughters who looked forward to the visits. I never felt rushed and we could sit and chat about anything that came up. One great thing I'd like to mention that I think set this experience apart from my previous ob/gyn visits with my other children is that Christina cared about ME and MY health during and after the pregnancy, rather than just checking on the baby. In my previous experience, once the baby was born, there was no one checking up on the mother anymore although the recovery is very serious, physically and emotionally! Christina insisted that I take it easy for at least two weeks and that is definitely the reason I was able to recovery as quickly as I did. She is also extremely knowledgeable on natural supplements and healthcare for various issues. The birth itself, I'm not going to lie, the pain was horrific. But looking at my precious baby now and thinking back to her birth, it wasn't so bad ;) The day of labor, Christina and I spoke on the phone all throughout the day, and she gave me some tips toward the end of the day on some positions and exercises to get me through. Since we had gotten to know each other through our visits, we were able to mutually decide when she should come over for the birth. She came at the perfect time as I was entering the final stages of labor and couldn't cope alone with my husband anymore. She and Amanda quietly and calmly set up all the pads and towels while I continued to labor, and when I "yelped" in pain, she knew it was time. We had planned to use a birthing tub but I hadn't filled it up because I was in denial of the baby being born any time soon and didn't want the water to get cold, so when it was really time, we didn't have time to fill it up. I was leaning over my bed suffering through contractions and Christina asked me where I wanted to have my baby. All I could say was "I don't know". She took control of the situation and calmly made preparations for me to have her right there where I was standing, and 10 minutes later I gave birth standing up in my bedroom! Christina and Amanda helped us get comfortable after the birth, cleaned up everything and were gone within about 2 hours. My older girls were able to wake up and meet their baby sister the next morning without having me gone in the hospital for 2 days. They came back to check on us the next day, at one week and at 6 weeks. As calm as Christina was during my labor and birth, she has an amazing energy and passion for what she does. And she's funny! She has continued to care for me during the post partum period and is genuine in her love for mothers and babies. I can't say enough about her and would recommend her to anyone considering a home birth! My hospital births were fine and without incident but I would never choose to go back to the hospital after this amazing experience. Overall it was fantastic and I felt confident and comfortable with Christina. I hope to be able to do it all again someday! read more

The care I received during my pregnancy and after was more than I could have hoped for. This was my second home birth and Christina and Amanda(her student midwife) made it perfect. Every prenatal visit was at least an hour so we could all get to know each other. It is so important to know and trust who attends your birth which is the reason for these long visits.
