The care I received during my pregnancy and after was more than I could have hoped for. This was my second home birth and Christina and Amanda(her student midwife) made it perfect. Every prenatal visit was at least an hour so we could all get to know each other. It is so important to know and trust who attends your birth which is the reason for these long visits. Christina is not only a loving, amazing person, but she is incredibly knowledgeable. Every question I had, she informed me of all my options with no bias one way or the other. If I asked what her opinion was she would give it to me but she didn't push any way of thinking. She just wanted my husband and myself to be informed and make the best decisions for us. From the first conversation I had on the phone with Christina I could tell she was knowledgeable, caring, and flexible. She always greeted me with a hug and showed genuine care for me as a person, not just a client. In every prenatal appt she was such a good listener and asked great questions to understand where I was at and what would help me. My pregnancy had a few ups and downs but Christina took time to listen, comfort, and advise. She was flexible to work with my schedule which was so helpful since I have four other kids! This was my fifth natural birth (my first with Christina- we recently moved) and Christina took time to understand my past experiences and to help me feel comfortable about this one. When I had false labor she texted with me during the night and helped me realize I could go back to sleep. Then when I was actually in labor she showed up quickly and helped me make decisions as I progressed. With gravity and movement my contractions quickly got hard and when I walked back to stand next to the bed and breathe through a contraction, I started to push and he started coming! This was my first positive pushing experience and has helped me re-frame my thoughts about delivery. Christina and Lee Ann cheered me on the whole time and were so gracious to capture photos for us as our other kids met their brother a short time later. After birth Christina had several natural pain relievers (tea, essential oils, etc) which helped make this my best recovery. I cant say enough about my home birth experience with Christina. From the first time meeting her I knew she was a perfect fit for us. She was so warm, caring, and personable and that carried through our whole time together as we prepared for this birth. She is extremely knowledgeable and her experience caring for pregnant mamas and their babies shows through. Her monthly and weekly visits were something that my family and I looked forward to as she was able to answer any questions we had and eased any anxieties. She was also able to suggest a holistic approach with supplements to some issues I was having and they worked wonders. When it came time for labor Christina was amazing, she let me labor as I wanted never pushing anything always asking and suggesting. She was calming through my whole labor, by my side holding my hand or rubbing my back as I requested which was phenomenal since back labor is no joke. When it came time to push I felt as if I could not do it any longer and she was such an amazing support just reminding me that I could and that we were almost there, she was so patient with me. She let me put my foot on her shoulder to push, I mean who does that.....only someone who's super committed and passionate about midwifery. She stayed with us after baby was born made sure we were all ok, did a newborn exam and cleaned up everything. Being able to be at home in our own space and not worry about a thing was invaluable. Christina made sure that my bleeding was under control and left me with a delicious postpartum tea to drink as well as a tincture and oil to smell for postpartum cramping which worked beautifully. She is so thoughtful in her care for her clients and even did a special healing bath for us during our one week postpartum visit. She is extremely intuitive and uplifting. Only a few times in a woman's life is she privileged enough to become pregnant and give birth. While waiting for two hours at the local OBs office to get my visit I did NOT feel the specialness of what I was doing. I felt the fluorescent bulbs burning off my vitamins. I felt completely unimportant. I just wanted my appointments to be over with. My dealings with the nurses were tense. I just felt awful after my visits. Forgetting the miracle of my baby. Being told by the receptionist that I was one of "2,000 patients." My husband suggested we meet with a midwife, and he contacted Christina Sanders. His goal for me was to enjoy my last pregnancy. He had been through the "typical hospital experience" (medicated labor) with me for our first baby. And we both wanted a different experience. But I was in the middle of my first trimester and pretty queasy and somewhat defeated. I was sort of sure that I would be rejected by her. Fears of being 35 and "too old" were in my head. Fears of being too big (I'm a stocky gal) to birth at home. And fears from my first complicated pregnancy kept me from thinking that home birth could be a viable option. All of my fears were quieted by Christina. She arrived at our home for our consultation. She allowed me to share all of my fears and stories about birth. We liked her right away. I had been so uptight and that first day I felt confident. "I can push my baby out!" We hired her. Pregnancy is long. I had my 1 year old to look after. I really needed that. Then...we get to the "due date." We blow past that! During the last 9 hours of my long labor Christina and her fantastic assistant Amanda were here at our home. Giving my husband and I the courage and support to get through a long labor. On some level I didn't think I could actually do it: birth at home. I had to re-face my fears and myself and the universe...(birth is BIG! Labor is no walk in the park). But I miraculously birthed my baby girl in my living room, with my husband there, with the complete support of Christina (and Amanda). We felt safe. We felt guided. We felt loved. We couldn't be farther from the sterile OBs office, with the fluorescent bulbs, or the hospital surrounded by strangers. All across the world women were birthing in that same moment. I was at one with them all. But also in one of the most special and precious and private moments I will ever know. It was sincerely beautiful. The first two hours was pure joy. All babies deserve as gentle an entry onto planet earth as possible. And through our home birth we achieved that for our daughter. Where can we begin about Christina? Our situation was a bit different from any other situation. We discovered and hired Christina when I was 40 weeks pregnant. In the beginning of my pregnancy, we hired a midwife whom was with us throughout the majority of our pregnancy (with the exception of the last 2 weeks, considering I had baby late). Throughout that time, we had continually grown more and more uncomfortable appointment after appointment with her up until the very last weeks. Several red flags were presented in the last month of my pregnancy. It got to the point where I was having serious doubts about having my baby at home and was fearful of my birth. The day I hit 40 weeks, was a turning point for us. I made the decision to switch midwives super last minute. At the time, I wasn't even sure if that was possible. But I had a network of amazing birth workers on my side working for me to find me a new midwife. Not even a couple hours after I had reached out to some of my friends, they had already found me Christina and told me to call her to see if she would take me on. I called her and spoke with her on the phone and she was at my house within 12 hours. She discussed with my family and I our options and told us that she would be happy to be our midwife so last minute. We are eternally grateful for her decision. What a beautiful soul a person must have to put so much faith in people she barely knew. She made us feel so great and even more comfortable in that few hours that she met with us than we did with our previous midwife we had throughout our entire pregnancy. She met with us several times in the last few weeks of my pregnancy and assured us that we could be comfortable with her on our team. It was a very scary transition being so far down the road in that part of our journey, however, I wouldn't have had it any other way. I wish that we had found and hired Christina from day 1. I feel so blessed and fortunate to continue to have her in our lives to this day 4 months later (and extremely sad that we didn't have her for more of our pregnancy). Getting pregnant/having a baby during a pandemic can be stressful. Constantly changing hospital policies and the unknowns that come along with that made me doubt I could have the birth I wanted in a hospital setting. Where do I even begin?! Christina is absolutely amazing. We brought our little girl into the world 3 weeks ago, and it was such a wonderful experience. This was our first child, and we decided early on that we wanted to have a home birth. I felt a connection with Christina the first time we met, and our bond grew very strong throughout my pregnancy. (There is no doubt in my mind on having Christina as my midwife for our next child as well). Christina was the perfect coach during my labor. Christina has helped bring both of our children into the world, the first as an assistant to another midwife and the second as our midwife. Needless to say, we love her. She has always had a calm and wonderful attitude which is very needed during birth. Especially in those times when you are feeling like you are so over being pregnant and/or giving birth. Christina and her student midwife, Amanda, helped welcome my baby boy in September 2017. I loved having all of my prenatals at home and not having to lug my 2 year old into an office. They often included him in the check ups, a great experience to help him better acclimate to the idea of a new baby joining the family. Onto the birth: My baby was born less than an hour after the team arrived, but Christina was available by phone from my first early morning twinge to when I was ready for her to come in the evening. Baby #2 - Two Home Births Christina is amazing! We've had the privilege of having Christina as my Bradley Method coach, Doula, and Mid-wife. I was referred to Christina by my mid-wife during my first pregnancy for her Bradley classes. When I first met Christina I was blown away by her contagious energy and her amazing spirit. She is extremely passionate about what she does and you can definitely feel it. So not only did we decide to take her Bradley Method course but we decided to hire her as our Doula. As soon as I went into labor Christina, the mid-wife and her assistant were there within minutes. Thank God for Christina on that day. She was so calm and collective during the entire labor. She gave me the motivation and encouragement that I needed at that moment. After three hours of labor I gave birth to my baby girl with the help of our mid-wife and Christina. She's truly been blessed with an extraordinary way to make any situation seem so normal and doable. My husband and I later made a comment to Christina that she should highly consider becoming a mid-wife. Fast forward three years later and I became pregnant with our second girl. I wanted to have the exact same experience as I did the first time. So I hired the same mid-wife and called Christina to ask if she would be there as our Doula. Of course she agreed but there was a bonus now. She was now a licensed mid-wife. Yay! Let me tell you how much of a blessing that was because as I went into labor so did my mid-wife's other two clients! She has such a calming personality and really caters to you and what you want during your labor/pregnancy. I birthed my second child on 9/17/15 and would not change a single thing. She offers great advice and keeps you on track with your health during the prenatal visits. A lot of having a successful birth is following your intuition and staying calm and healthy and with her reassurance I was able to do it. She had two assistants, Lenna and Amanda, who were training with her and I was able to have Amanda present at my birth. The extra help came in very handy on our delivery day. Amanda even encapsulated the placenta for me and gave me some invaluable keepsakes. Christina offers Bradley classes also. We could not attend the large classes because of my husband's work schedule so we took private classes which helped us prepare for the big day. I had a wonderful, seasoned midwife and was feeling uneasy about having to find a new midwife because we moved. My previous midwife said she had heard good things about Christina Sanders. Christina Sanders was recommended to us when we found out we were pregnant by some friends who had taken her Bradley method classes and hired her as a doula for their birth. We had already met with another midwife, but the second we met Christina we knew she was the one! She has so much passion for what she does! When ever I felt something different or wasn't sure I would contact her and right away without hesitation she would always respond or call me! When we found out we were having our third child, we knew we definitely wanted to be able to birth at home this time around. I'm fortunate enough to have Christina in my life, not just as a midwife, but as a friend. When it was time to figure out our birth plan and who I wanted to be there to support me I knew I wanted Christina's calm and gentle spirit there with me. I never felt rushed to do anything wether it be delivering the placenta, cutting the cord, or even having to get out of the birthing tub afterward. I would highly recommend Christina as a midwife. My husband and I have come to know her quite well over the past couple years, having her as a Bradley Method instructor and as the assistant/doula for our 1st homebirth. When we were expecting our next baby, we were delighted to find out that she had become a licensed midwife and went with her without hesitation. Her home visits made it so convenient and every time she came over, she always tried to include my other three children. My 2 year old fell in love with Christina and learned so much from her. To this day, she still mentions Christina, and one day I asked her who loves her and she mentioned Christina with everyone in our family! Christina worked incredibly hard dealing with my not-so-cooperative insurance company, saving us A LOT of money. We used Christina for Bradley Method classes with our first baby. The classes were extremely informative, helpful and fun. Despite being high risk and going into preterm labor and having my baby 6 weeks early, I was able to have a 100% natural, drug free labor and delivery! I started seeing Christina as my midwife around the 18th week of my 2nd pregnancy. We had just moved to the area from LA, where my first was born with an OB at a hospital. I had considered using a midwife then, but the teeniest bit of fear stood in the way. So glad that fear went away because the homebirth experience with Christina and her student/assistant Amanda was perfect for me! I loved having all my prenatal care at home, where my toddler was made a part of "checking baby brother." I felt listened to and well cared for, never rushed or waiting to be seen like at most OB offices. I gave birth to my baby boy in October 2017. My active labor and transition progress quickly, so he came about 30 minutes after the team arrived, but Christina was readily available by phone through my early labor as we decided when I was ready for her. During labor and birth, Christina offered gentle encouragement, massaged, and applied pressure where I needed, but was totally hands off other than that. She trusts our bodies to do the work, and mine did just that! Christina and Amanda's postpartum care for me and baby was very nurturing and it really showed me that they appreciate how special of a time this is for us moms. Alright ya'll my baby is 18 months old and it's taken me this long to write a review because honestly it's really hard to put an experience like a home birth into words on a yelp site. I had a home birth with Christina as my midwife with my fourth baby. My other three were hospital births and great experiences (although now having a home birth to compare them too - the home birth will forever hold an extra special place in my heart). I was very afraid to have a home birth, not because of pain or mess or the lack of support from my extended family but the fear of if something were to go wrong consumed me. I knew though that that was what I truly wanted for this baby and my family and I didn't want fear to get in the way of that. From the beginning, Christina knew my concerns and fears and was constantly working through them with me. She cared about ME and this specific pregnancy and I valued that so much. Not only does she come in and sit cross legged on your couch and let your children help with the new baby, she is so knowledgeable and takes great pride and responsibility for your health and your baby. The appointments were great. Labor day was magical. Christina and Amanda were both so calm and quiet and energized and I could go on and on, but seriously if you are even considering the idea of a midwife and home birth. Invite them into your home and your heart, it'll be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. read more

We've known Christina for almost nine years. She was our Bradley instructor with our first pregnancy. We loved her class so much that we took it again with our second baby. She was so thorough and shared with us a wealth of child bearing knowledge that we felt extremely prepared during the birthing process. We had our first two in the hospital and because of how well she prepared us we were able to have successful drug-free births. With our third and fourth babies we decided to have home births with Christina. When selecting a midwife we had a lot of criteria we were looking for. Things that were important to us were: someone that had experience and medical knowledge to bring new life into the world safely, someone able to listen to concerns objectively and present several options, someone willing to let the parents guide the birth, someone with a compatible personality to us, and someone that is loving and able to offer comfort, peace, and support during labor. I can genuinely say Christina offers all of these qualities. Our last birth (July 2014) was so peaceful and special. She allowed us to birth the way we wanted, there were no restrictions, or feelings of being rushed. She was extremely calm and peaceful and very attentive to us and the baby's needs. We felt so loved and safe in her care. It's not likely we will have any more children, but if we do without hesitation Christina will be our midwife. We have had a wonderful journey with Christina and now share a special bond with her, we really love her! We are so sad to see our baby days being left behind! read more
