We even set up a call with her afterwards and she was flexible enough to schedule a personal zoom class for us around our schedule. She gave us a bunch of tips to help with our journey. From ways to naturally induce labor, questions about certain pregnancy symptoms, and concerns about labor, she was there to help me to prepare for my upcoming labor and delivery of my son. Sheri was with me throughout my entire 33 hours of labor. She practically turned my labor room into a spa! With aromatherapy, LED candles, relaxing music and essential oils, she made my room so comfortable and serene! She tended to my needs during the entire labor. She used massage, imagery and breathing techniques to get me through every contraction and obstacle in labor. Her experience as a labor and delivery/postpartum nurse also helped to give me piece of mind since she also had the medical background and knowledge to understand everything going on between the medical professionals. She was able to explain to me things I didn't understand, offer suggestions, and be an advocate for me when it came to my nurses and the entire health care team. After the birth of my baby, Sheri continued to go above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She visited me at the hospital the day after the baby was born and brought me lactation cookies and padsicles (frozen maxi pads with aloe vera and witch hazel... AMAZING!!!), she visited me at my home when I was having issues with breastfeeding, and when I mentioned something about wanting to wear a Moby wrap, she told me she had some loner wraps and brought me one to my home. I could text her anytime of the day with a question or concern and she would respond very quickly. The only way I can truly describe Sheri is by saying she is seriously an angel. Her calm demeanor, her soothing voice, her graciousness, gentleness, sincerity, patience and love for her job make her someone you just want to be around, especially during this very intimate time in your life. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Sheri to anyone looking for a labor or postpartum doula. We don't know how we would have done it without her. She will be a special person in ours and our son's life forever.

My husband and I sought out a doula after experiencing a very rough first trimester mentally and emotionally. I knew after going through a rough pregnancy and PP with my first child that it would be a good idea to bring on additional support. I researched multiple doulas, and after interviewing another person who in my opinion was tied for first-- something told me to go with Amanda... And I'm so glad I did. The thing that I gravitated toward the most with her was her empowering, yet calm energy as well as the fact that she herself is a mother and has experienced birth. She connected with me on so many levels during my pregnancy and labor/delivery. Even having such an involved and supportive husband, Amanda provided support and assistance in ways we never could have done on our own. I felt so comfortable and grateful to have her in my pregnancy journey/labor & delivery experience. It wouldn't have been the same without her. We decided that with our for sure LAST baby we would do things differently. After having 2 natural…read more(no meds) hospital births that were not pleasant experiences by any means, I wanted to have a home water birth. Steven made sure I had just that. I did the research and found the absolute BEST midwife I could have ever prayed for. From the very beginning of our journey Christina Sanders made us feel like family. She included everyone in all of the appts, let's just say my 3 year old, Stori, is now a midwife in training. Everything about her and the world of midwifery, let us know we made the perfect decision. It was a very special intimate experience. Though natural labor is excruciatingly painful, being in my own space with my husband and daughter Ahmyiah by my side, along with Christina and Kristen Rud (Midwife in training) it was so peaceful and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. There was less stress, less anxiety, no stupid intake questions that had been answered 100000x before, nobody making you feel incompetent, nobody barking orders. Instead, It was perfect lighting, soothing warm water, Christina reassuring me that I'm doing great and to simply let my body do what it is naturally designed to do, all while surrounded by nothing but love! It's hard to fully describe, just know that it exceeded all of my expectations and I am beyond grateful that I had the opportunity to take this journey with so much love. The postpartum care was unexpected and soooo needed. 1 Day after they came back to check on both of us, bringing me tea and food to assist in the recovery process. Tinctures and herbs to soothe discomfort. 1 week they were back checking on us and providing me with more yummy treats. They even prepared the most beautiful floral/herbal bath for Xo and I to share. It was magical. The GIFTS they made for us OMG if I was a cryer Id have been balling...A couple weeks later I had some weird wacky things going on with my skin, most likely had to do with my liver needing to heal. Christina jumped right in to help me find awesome natural soap for the weird rash and she gave me another tea to help my liver recover, it worked! 6 weeks postpartum we went back to the office for our final check. It was bittersweet, knowing our prenatal journey was over and that would be the last time I'd sit in that office as a pregnant mama. As of today, Xo is 5 months old. We still keep in contact, and always plan to. Christina and Kristen are two beautiful women with hearts of gold that we never knew we needed!!!

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have met Karen and have taken her class. Though it was a…read more1 to 2 hour drive (with traffic) for me to get to her, it was well worth it. My profession deals with medicine and she taught me more than I've learned in school, things that schools don't teach in conventional medicine (which is why some of these thing are unheard of when you ask doctors about it). I worked with a natural doctor who advised me to look into hypnobirthing. That's when I jumped onto yelp and found Karen. My husband is extremely all about research/data based practices and Karen has educated him to change his vision when it comes to birthing. Thank God for her he's now more understanding and will 100% support my instinctive/natural birth. What I really respect is that she has had a "typical" birth prior to her education and knowledge. Her own experience with a doula, with her second child, is what inspired her practice and passion in what she preaches and practices. She's currently pregnant now and will venture with a home birth next. She can basically say, "I've done it all!". She can relate to different births and/or she can share stories of those she see has seen/experienced first hand. She has so much to share and she has so much to give. Although she was pregnant, preparing and teaching a couple classes, has 2 and 1/2 kids, and in the middle of a move, she'd pick up the phone as if she was sitting around waiting for your call to answer any questions you had. I called her prior to class starting to inquire about her class. She was on vacation and still picked up my phone to talk to me for a good 20 minutes probably. I had a question late at night at 9pm or so and she still responded to my text message. She was busy putting her children to bed but got back to me right away to let me know she needed a minute to respond. Her classes offered some activities to allow us to practice "real life" scenarios. It was definitely good practice and allowed us to ask questions while we were doing it, in case it came up when we finally went into labor and Karen wasn't around. You basically get to practice what she teaches. Hands-on practice is always the best way to learn. I never imagined I would learn so much, especially in just 5 classes. This is my first birth and I'm so glad I learned what I learned from her before my first experience. I love her positive aura and personality overall. She's beautiful too! Very enjoyable to be around and learn from. She even offered little snacks for our growling tummies and cute little prizes. Totally unexpected and not necessary for her to do, but that's what also makes her so awesome! I Totally wish I could have her as my doula but she's so far away, it wouldn't be a good idea. She'll also be on the tail end of her maternity leave by then. She offered her full support and open availability if my husband and I needed anything. I appreciated that so much. We both know that she's just a phone call away. I wish everyone could learn what I learned from Karen. It would better prepare all women (and partners) out there for a more natural and unregrettable birth for them and their child and more likely prevent regrettable birth experiences.

Meeting Karen and taking this class was one of the best things about my pregnancy and birth. Karen gave us all the tools and information we needed in order to have a beautiful home water birth. She was one of the best decisions we made for our birth. From our very first prenatal appointment, she was so easy to talk to. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted for my birth and even typed it up for me. My biggest goals were to avoid an epidural and Pitocin if they weren't medically necessary, and she completely respected and supported those wishes. Our prenatal visits were incredibly thorough. We talked through my birth plan in detail, went over labor positions, and discussed different scenarios so I felt prepared going into labor. When she arrived at the hospital, she completely transformed the room. She turned off the harsh hospital lights, brought a light projector, and even set up an essential oil diffuser that made the room feel peaceful. It immediately created a calming environment that helped me relax. Throughout labor, she was an incredible advocate. At one point, Pitocin was started even though I had already declined it. Valerie caught it right away, spoke up, and voiced her concerns on my behalf. Having someone who was paying such close attention and advocating for my birth preferences gave me so much confidence. She also had so many helpful techniques to keep labor moving naturally. Whether it was changing positions, offering encouragement, or giving me tools like a spiky massage ball and a labor comb to squeeze through contractions, she always seemed to know exactly what I needed. Between contractions, she kept me distracted with conversation and helped me stay calm and focused. I truly believe her guidance and support played a huge role in helping me achieve the birth plan I had hoped for. What impressed me even more was that her care didn't end after delivery. She came to our home about a week postpartum to check on both me and the baby, answer questions, and make sure we were adjusting well. Valerie is kind, knowledgeable, calming, and an incredible advocate. She made me feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way. I cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone looking for a doula who genuinely cares and will be by your side through every stage of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

This review is for Meghans doula service. Very long review-hope it helps:…read more I had my baby in 2017 - overdue review. Meghan was amazing at answering all my random questions as this was my first baby. I was looking for a doula to help me in delivering my baby naturally. I didnt want pytosin or an epidural so i interviewed a few doulas and Meghan sounded perfect. I didnt want a doula who would act like a doctor and argue with my ob during my delivery. I just wanted someone who would help me with managing the pain and to coach me while i delivered. I knew the pain was going to be bad and an epidural would sound great so i wanted someone to push me and remind me why i wanted a natural birth. From the day I meet with her up to the day i delivered, Meghan was amazing like i mentioned before. Quick at replying to texts, answering questions, just amazing so i was excited to know she would be present during delivery. The day i began having contractions she was on the phone repying back making sure i was ok. She showed up and everything was great. Of course as soon as i got to the hospital, the nurses offered pytosin which i declined. The pain increased and Meghan offered help with the medicine ball and other methods to ease pain. When night came and the pain was to much, i was disapointed that she just kind of sat back and watched. This is when i needed her coaching, her encouraging me to fight through the pain, that everything was going to be ok, that the pain would get worse but then better when id see my baby for the first time, helping me with my breathing something like that. The room i delivered at had ONE fold out chair for my husband to sleep in. She set up post and passed out in that chair. My poor husband had nothing to rest on but a standard plastic chair. I was in pain so i didnt find out about this until after i had delivered my baby and was home. In the end i did get and epidural and my birth did not go as i had hoped. She was there when i delivered my baby and was helping me with pushing. She took some amazing pictures that captured some beautiful moments which im forever grateful for. I do feel like hiring a doula was a waste of my money in that she didnt really encourage me and push me to keep going which is why i wanted a doula. I do understand it was my decision but thats why i hired her, to help me be strong. The contract also uncluded 2 postpartum visits, she only came to 1. The final visit we scheduled but she never showed up. I hope this helps anyone also looking for a doula. Would i hire her again, not for her doula service. Shes a very loving and caring person but not the strong woman i needed for a natural birth. Her salves are great. I cant really speak on the ecapsulation service sense i didnt get that.
