Had lunch, the chili was ok after you picked out the jalapenos. Everything was either WAY too spicy or really bland. The Khalbi steak bites had no flavor. We had asked the waitress how many came in an order. She said 6 or 8. There were 5 for $12. The popcorn cauliflower was uneatable, a bad mix of flavors. Why do chefs think smearing blue cheese on everything makes it better? The menu was limited.The only burger choice was a plain one or, you guessed it, one smothered in blue cheese, yuck. They add a 4% "kitchen benefit fee" to the tab. So lame, raise your prices if you need to pay your people more, don't sneak an extra fee in on your patrons. This practice, in my opinion, is dishonest. The waitress got a very small tip because of it. I won't be back, partially because of your "fee". read more

We went last night for restaurant week and it was SO good! We didn't have to wait very long for a table, maybe 5 minutes, and the waitress offered to make our drinks prior to sitting. When we sat down, she immediately came over to ask us for drinks and if we understand the restaurant week menu. I ended up getting Mac and cheese off the normal menu, but my roommate did the restaurant week menu. Both were really good (she let me try her food lol). Fantastic spot! The decor and overall feel is super quaint and charming. The food doesn't disappoint either! We had the cauliflower "popcorn" (amazing!!!) and burgers. The burgers were perfectly cooked with some pink and good quality. Everything seemed homemade down to the pickles. I had the kale Caesar salad and it was fantastic, topped with roasted garlic cloves. First off I want to say I used to love this place and I would like to continue loving this place but I simply cannot. I am not sure what happened to this place but the quality of the food has gone way down. The last few times I've been here I've been super disappointed. We just ate avocado nachos; blue creek blew burger, deviled eggs, and republic Mac and cheese. The burger was over cooked beyond well done. Not good. Not eatable. The Mac and cheese was absolutely horrible. The nachos and deviled eggs weren't anything special at all. We just spent $60'ish dollars, ate the deviled eggs and threw the rest away. I'm not vegan or anything but a good veggie burger is my go to when I don't want meat or poultry and while most are dry and tasteless, this one was exceptional. Service was quick and efficient too. Wether you're a democrat or a republican, it doesn't matter as this place has incredible food, and they don't discriminate on what color you bang, red or blue you can all come together and make purple. The service was great I sat at the bar and spoke to the people who run the place. I will say I forgot their name but man the husband has some damn good music taste! And his wife was also just as cool! Turns out their chef is from Cali and they spent some time there so it had a Cali food thing going for them. Now I will say they were the first place I found that had deviled eggs. In the south that's common but not anywhere else. And damn they were good. I even drank some wine, I'm not a wine drinker but that night I was. They had some good local beers on tap which I respect and do love to see at a business. Headed in for a early lunch. Place is cute but old. For some reason they had the air conditioning going? Maybe not but the air coming out of the floor vents was on high and nice cold. We sat down and were greeted promptly. She got us waters and took our order. I ordered the monte Christo and the wife ordered the Mac and cheese and added pork belly and blue cheese crumbles. About 20 minutes past and nothing. We were the only people in there other than 2 guys at the bar drinking their lunch and cussing up a storm. The server comes over and apologizes for the wait and informed us the oven was on the fritz again. About 5 minutes later the food arrived. Everything was luke warm. I must admit I didn't really read the description of the monte christo. Just figured it would be traditional or a somewhat close variation. What I received was basically a soggy French toast sandwich stuffed with shredded cheddar cheese and a little bit of bacon. I could tell it was shredded cheddar because it was barely melted. Just a glob of half melted cheese with a little bacon buried inside. Nice raspberry jam but no powdered sugar. No Swiss cheese no ham. The wife's Mac was barely warm. Ironically served in a cast iron skillet with a pad on the handle to protect from the nonexistent threat of burn. She said the pork belly was good but the dish overall was not good. Lunch for 2 with no drinks or appetizer was about $32. Probably won't go back. read more

My husband and I had an early dinner here, this Saturday. We were greeted and seated right away. We shared a Huckleberry creme as we look through the menu. My husband order the pastrami and garlic fries, all of which was absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips and the Northwest salad. The salad was excellent but the fish was very salty and fishy. I asked for some malt vinegar, which my server brought to me right away. I had hoped the vinegar would cut the fishy flavor. It didn't. I gave the second piece of rock Cod to my husband to see if it was just me. He ate some but said it was too fishy. Everything else was perfect; the food, the service and the atmosphere. I am happy I waited to try the place as early reviews were full of fuckery like warm beers being served, cold entrees...blah blah. We tried a couple entrees, the food was well thought out and amazingly prepared. Adam's vision of historical food as this building is one of the oldest in town.
