    Pork belly

Rent's Due BBQ is a North Bend hidden gem! Harrison is great, and we love all of his offerings. He is open Saturdays at 12pm until he sells out (check out his social media for updates) in his yard behind Safeway. This is a grab and go type of place vs sit down. Show up right at opening to avoid missing out. The ribs, for example, can go quickly when folks come and buy them in bulk at opening. Everything we have ordered is delicious, and pricing is very reasonable. The pork belly is one of our favorites. This is one of our favorites food spots in town.

Rents Due BBQ is a true local favorite. While their hours are limited, they're known to sell out fast. Harrison, the owner, is super friendly and always makes you feel welcome. Parking is roadside, with a handful of tables and chairs if you choose to dine in, plus takeout options available. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for updates; they often sell out within just a couple of hours after opening. The menu features brisket, chicken legs, ribs, pork belly jibbles, sausage, and more, with changes posted online regularly. They also sell their signature sauces. Payment is cash or Venmo. If in the area around the time of opening, stop by and grab some delicious grub!

Harrison, the pit master of dreams, is out here smoking meats like he's on a mission from the BBQ gods.

This place popped up on my radar last summer and I have been back and forth if I wanted to check it…read moreout. Overall, reviews are positive, but the negative reviews are telling. People speak about bland food and just general disappointment. My concern being a Mexican food lover is I have never heard anyone mention this place, which just lead me to believe it's a solid local spot, but not a destination location. No one appears like the ground beef. No many Mexican places even do ground beef anymore, but guess what, ground beef is my favorite, but based on reviews it should be avoided here, so I did so. I went with Carnitas and can tell you it wasn't the worst, but I had had much better. I like a juicy burrito. Yes, they get messy to hold, but worst-case scenario, you get a knife and fork and dig in. You may ask what a juicy burrito is and I'll explain. It's a burrito with either the juice of bean broth, or very moist rice or meat. Unfortunately, nothing here was moist. Also, the burrito had lettuce in it. That's nota burrito, it's a soft taco. A burrito is protein, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. In this case sour cream and guacamole was extra. The people here were friendly, the pricing was fair and the portion was reasonable, I just didn't find the food satisfying. This place is better than fast food and the average truck, but I'm sure every major city in America serves a burrito better than this. I encountered several people working here that struggled with English, which tells me they have to be deep in the culture, but these are not the recipes of true southern Mexicans. I wouldn't tell you to avoid this place, but I also can't recommend them. We drove 30 miles to get here and it was anything but worth the drive.

I ordered the Tijuana Burrito with chicken. It is supposed to come with rice, cilantro, onions, lettuce, cheese and beans. Unfortunately, it was almost all rice and really bland. There was just one bite of chicken, almost none of their homemade beans and some lettuce. Then they did not seem to have any cheese, but did have some sour cream (maybe they ran out of cheese, but should have told people). The burrito was $19 and no excuse to pack it full of rice. This was really disappointing, the food vendors here are usually excellent (my wife was smarter and had a sandwich from Purple and loved it). Perhaps the tacos or Baja Bowl are better.

The steamed bun was alright, the bun itself was a little boring; I'm used to fluffier buns with a tiny hint of sweetness to the buns. The spicy beef filling wasn't too bad. The beef was a dollar more than the other fillings. The Chicken Karaage were 5 pieces for $10, and we got more than 5, because they were random sizes, and some were really small. She offered people little samples of dishes and drink even if you were at the back of the line. I sampled the passion fruit tea and ended up ordering it because it has no added sugar with perfect but of bitterness from the tea without the acidity. The fried mochi balls/jing dui were the best ones I've had yet! I feel like small ones are hard to perfect but this was so crispy on the exterior, not overly oily, perfectly sweetened and balanced by the nuttiness of the sesame seeds. The shu mai was also top tier as it was packed with so much pork and shrimp, no fillers detected like flour or anything! So juicy and flavorful and paired excellent with the Lao gan ma-like chili oil they provided. I hope they come to farmer markets closer to Seattle!
