Welcome Chote's to North Bend! Replacing Hammer Lane Grill, Chote's Tacos shares is connected to the gas station and is serving up Mexican food. It's not clear yet if they plan to expand the menu or not, but when I visited they had a limited menu featuring a breakfast burrito, chimichanga, taco plate, quesadillas, super nachos, burrito, torta, and asada fries. There was also churros, sopes, and tostadas available. Meat options featured chicken, steak, and adobada (steak, chorizo, or bacon for the breakfast burrito). We tried the arroz con pollo special, which was okay. We enjoyed the chicken quesadillas, but we found the super nachos to be super! Very tasty with lots of layers of cheese and toppings. The churro was also very good. We will plan on returning in the future.

Service was great and the asada burrito was delicious. Will be back, just wish it was closer than truck town.

People speak about bland food and just general disappointment. My concern being a Mexican food lover is I have never heard anyone mention this place, which just lead me to believe it's a solid local spot, but not a destination location. No one appears like the ground beef. No many Mexican places even do ground beef anymore, but guess what, ground beef is my favorite, but based on reviews it should be avoided here, so I did so. I went with Carnitas and can tell you it wasn't the worst, but I had had much better. I like a juicy burrito. Yes, they get messy to hold, but worst-case scenario, you get a knife and fork and dig in. You may ask what a juicy burrito is and I'll explain. It's a burrito with either the juice of bean broth, or very moist rice or meat. Unfortunately, nothing here was moist. Also, the burrito had lettuce in it. That's nota burrito, it's a soft taco. A burrito is protein, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. In this case sour cream and guacamole was extra. The people here were friendly, the pricing was fair and the portion was reasonable, I just didn't find the food satisfying. This place is better than fast food and the average truck, but I'm sure every major city in America serves a burrito better than this. I encountered several people working here that struggled with English, which tells me they have to be deep in the culture, but these are not the recipes of true southern Mexicans. I wouldn't tell you to avoid this place, but I also can't recommend them. We drove 30 miles to get here and it was anything but worth the drive.

The atmosphere was typical for a Mexican Restaurant. The server was quick and attentive. Chips and salsa were good. Salsa seemed homemade and had a little kick. I went with my traditional new restaurant order; taco, enchilada and chili rellano. They offered shredded beef which was my first plus (hard to find in the Midwest). Both the taco and enchilada had plenty of meat. Sufficient toppings on the taco. The rellano was excellent. Cheesy but. It over the top. The rice was very good as well. In all this was one of my best first experiences in a Mexican restaurant. If in the area it would be a must-return.

It's above average Mexican food, but I don't think the quality matches the price anymore. If I'm paying $30 for a burrito, it better blow my mind. And it didn't. It was fine. It was $15 good. But for $30, not worth it. You gotta do something El Caporal. Either justify the cost by raising the quality, or lower your prices. Otherwise it'll be Rio Bravo for me most of the time.

For apps we got deer ears and onion rings. Both were good but onion rings won out - would have liked them a little earlier since our entrees came out pretty much the same time but it was a reasonable wait for food all together. Everyone enjoyed the food- Fish tacos were tasty but the burgers we had rated slightly higher- the bacon Swiss mushroom, and the pour house. Parking was easy, there was plenty of seating and a great view out back.

We had spent the day flying from Denver to Seattle, driving home we stopped here for some not too shabby bar food (def the local dive bar vibe, in a good way). Not busy but didn't really expect it to be. A few guys playing pool and baseball on the TVs. Their outdoor area in the back is huge. Some covered area, some not. There is a giant RV wrapped in Seahawk livery, pretty cool. Hubs had the Old Stove IPA and I had my customary Mothers Day Bloody Mary, both were yummy. My Bacon Swiss Mushroom Burger was amazing paired with super fresh tasting giant onion rings. Our son-in-law had the Philly Cheesesteak upgraded with prime rib, he loved it but it could have had more meat, and then they mistakenly charged us double for his order. The homemade chili had a little spicy kick to it. We also all enjoyed the Spicy Mac N Cheese Bites. We will keep this place on the radar for future drives home.
