Dear Laz, I LOVE your burritos! You really nailed it with your vegetarian burritos, and it's amazing that there are multiple options, not just a boring rice/beans/pico and lettuce combo, but actual veggies (mushrooms, peppers, etc) in the tortilla. It's like getting a fruit salad without all the boring filler fruit. Delicious and colorful! Can't wait to try the fried cauliflower version. My partner had the shrimp burrito and said the shrimp were just ok, they needed salt, but better less salt and add if needed. Another thing, we loved that you're open until 8p every day, we could actually find the truck, and the hours posted are the true hours you're open, unlike many other places. Food truck located near a gas station. When driving up, looks like only street parking but the gas station has parking and tables to eat at. We were able to substitute adobado (marinated pork) for the Carne Asada Fries. The fries were crunchy and the meat was flavorful. The only issue was the guacamole as it seemed to be mixed with something. The price for the size of the plate seemed excessive. The tacos were bought individually ($4 each) we got Pollo, Carnitas, Adobado & Asada. The only negative was the pollo (chicken) as it had no flavor. Both dishes were served with cabbage instead of lettuce which was different but not negative. The gentlemen in the truck were willing to change out anything and very helpful. They were also updating labels on their pictures when we were there to help ppl know what their menu items are. They offered 3 sauces, red, green and a cilantro base. This used to be a great place to get a delicious, good sized burrito a few years ago. It was wonderful to have such good food and friendly staff on our home turf. Sadly, the quality has gone way down, as the prices have gone way up. The burritos are tiny and tasteless. I do not exaggerate by saying that they are now half as large. For $17 (before tax and tip) you are getting a 5.5 inch long by 7-inch circumference burrito filled with small square chunks of grisly beef, a little cheese, rice, and a lot of cabbage. The menu states that pica and sour cream, are included, but there is none. I have tried to continue to support this local business, thinking they might have been having a slump, but today was the worst; I couldn't eat it. The creamy green salsa is still the best in the area if you are willing to pay the price. I hope the owners are willing to hear these issues that others in the neighborhood are voicing as well. Perfect for a sunny day :) When you order, you get a buzzer that vibrates when your order is ready. Each of the plates comes with a free drink which makes the $18 pretty worth it! So glad I found a decent taco truck! So far the best in the area. Super friendly service with a smile! (I notice smiles now since a ton of people don't seem to do that anymore) Located in the chevron. only a few spots to park but its doable. They give you a buzzer after you order so you can wait in your car when its freezing out. First taco truck I've seen do that. They have a pretty decent seating area outside but its winter right now and freezing. But they light it nicely and keep it clean. The menu was okay. A little pricey but since its the best option in the area, understandable. Asada Fries (5): The fries were super crispy! Even at the bottom and even when I took it home. The asada was chopped very finely which I like cause you get some good charred bits. Toppings were onion heavy but tasty (just don't kiss anyone afterwards). I'd definitely get this again. Taco Plate (4): You get 3 tacos, beans, rice, and a drink. I chose barbacoa, asada, and adobada for my meats and all were good. Generally there's a clear standout or clear loser but all were moist, flavorful, and good. Both their roja and verde salsas were good. I do think the plate is a little high at $16. I'll likely just get straight tacos next time. Overall, great taco truck and close to me so will likely be my go-to for tacos. read more

Because I'm unable to come back again since I'm from out of town, I'll go ahead with 4 stars instead of 3 since I was in the middle. The service was very quick and nice and the location was easy to get to in the gas station. The food itself I feel mixed about. I got the carne asada burrito and my husband got the steak quesadilla. Both of them had a similar meat quality which was very fatty with a lot of gristle. To be fair, it's a good truck and I should have just ordered chicken, but I love asada so much I had to try it. Since it was like that I ended up mainly eating a veggie burrito since I took most of the meat out. That being said, the flavor was very good and the size for the price was also good. You can't miss this red truck parked by the Chevron station on the corner of Gilman Boulevard, which is how I found it, when I'd drive by going towards Front Street. I visited Laz's for lunch on a weekday and there were a few others getting takeout from here. Since it's located by a gas station, there were a few parking spots nearby; however, there is a lot more parking on the backside of the truck, and is where there were many more tables and seats. The menu featured Mexican classics, and of course, tacos. Although that looked appetizing, I saw that they had carne asada fries, which were loaded with all the goods. I of course had to try it! It didn't take long for my order to be ready and they asked me if I wanted hot or mild sauce. HOT, BABY! The carne asada fries were very good. The beef was very tender and tasty. The fries were smothered with the beef, melted cheese, a drizzle of sour cream and guac. It was a heavy dish, so is definitely an easy one to share! I greedily enjoyed it. Based off the yummy carne asada fries, I would be down to try other items offered at Laz's, as they all sound appealing. I always get really excited whenever I find a new taco truck. If I had to choose just one food to eat for the rest of my life, it may be tacos since they are so versatile and I love them so much. Just throw some meat and vegetables of any kind into a tortilla and there you go! Laz's Tacos is located in a prime spot at a Chevron station right next to a main intersection off of the freeway; you can't miss their bright red truck. I was there solely for their taco plate which includes three tacos of your choosing, rice, beans and a drink for $12.50. It was plenty of food for me. + Shrimp (camarones): This was by far the best one of the three. It came with five or six whole shrimp which were plump, lightly seasoned and snapped when I bit into them. The crunchy cabbage on top and drizzle of their crema tied it all together. I could eat a whole plate of just these! + Steak (carne asada): Unfortunately, the beef was a little under seasoned and missing the charred flavor that I expected. The meat was tender though, so I will give it that. It was topped with lettuce, tomato and onion which added some freshness and a pour of their salsa livened it up. + Chicken (pollo): I'm glad the cashier recommended this one to me. The shredded chicken was SO juicy and seasoned perfectly! They even crisped up the tortilla which prevented it from getting soggy as this taco was stuffed to the max. Lettuce, tomato and sour cream dressed the top and every bite was delicious. + Horchata: I was surprised they included horchata as an option for the taco plate since it's typically $0.50 more than a soda if you purchase it a la carte. This wasn't just a tiny serving either... It was a full 20 oz. cup of chilled cinnamon goodness with light ice. Although a little sweeter than I would like, I enjoyed every sip. My lunch companion ordered the Carne Asada Burrito ($9.00). She said it contained a generous serving of beef and the right amount of rice and beans. However, she had the same comments as me regarding the meat... it was tender but lacking in flavor. Nothing some salsa couldn't fix though! Only two people operated the truck with one at the register and the other doing all the cooking. Despite multiple customers ordering lunch at the same time, our food was prepared in just about five minutes. I will definitely come back! Thank you Yelp for opening my eyes to things and places I've been driving by all these years and didn't even notice! Anyways, on to the tacos. Once I arrived at the correct gas station parking lot, I quickly found parking and was surprised to see that most of the tacos were $2.50, regardless of the meat chosen. So I got 2 shrimp tacos and an asada taco... all of which was tax and tip was still under $10. Flavor wise, both tacos were very tasty - shrimp was plump and juicy and had good flavor, the carne asada was cooked well and relatively tender. I believe the tortillas were flour instead of corn, but still... it all hit the spot. It was nice the food came out fast, with 4 different salsas, and service was friendly.
