I've spent a good amount of time getting my teenaged sons tired old Highlander up to snuff so he can drive this car with confidence. While away on vacation we developed a loud rubbing noise under the hood and they let me drop it off for the week. Now, I had the serpentine belt replaced about a year ago with another shop in town so I suspected the belt tensioner is giving up. Well, come to find out when I got the call it was a small piece of aluminum from the car that was rubbing. The owner charged me $20 and my Wife & I were in shock! I had recently had some work done and knew it most likely would fail. Not a big deal. Had to drive a certain number of miles. Great paid the fee and off I went. 3.5 weeks later went back. Their machine wasn't "working" but they didn't know when it would be fixed! So waited 2 more weeks went back still same story. Waited another 2 weeks same thing! I went the week after my 60 days to see what was happening same story. Being this vehicle needs to be 100% safe and on the road I had to go elsewhere. They didn't not offer a refund nothing! Stole my $35 which ended up costing me $70 because I had to pay again. I was informed they've been doing this to many others as well. Knowingly taking someone's money and not rendering a service is stealing. Honesty is of utmost importance and it's evident they do not work with these ethics. Shameful. To avoid being scammed I would not use this business. There should be a zero star option!

I went in and was told to park in front of the last garage, where a guy would meet me. After waiting several minutes, a guy came out and told me to move my car, so I moved it to a parking spot, if you can call it that, since there was about 30 square feet of puddle. The guy hovered right next to my door as I got out, and then he got in without saying anything. I asked, "How long will it take?" and heard the response, "Five! Thirty-five!" I said, "So, five minutes, or 35 minutes?" And he said, "Five minutes!" So I said, "Okay, I'll be back in a bit then, going to go across the street." What happened next was like a scene out of a bad movie. The guy just kept shouting "35!" at me, like half a dozen times, while I said, "Yeah, I know, it's $35." "35!" "I will pay you when I get back." "35!" "Do you mean you want the money now? I don't have any cash. I have a card. I can just pay you in a few minutes when you're done." "35!" "I have never been asked to pay upfront for a car inspection before, is that what you're asking?" "35!" "I don't have cash on me." Finally, a full sentence. "You said you had a card, just give it to me now." I am not about to give my card to this guy, who looks and acts like he's drunk and clearly isn't carrying a card reader. I'm starting to wonder if he even really works there. So I say, "Look, I have never been asked to pay upfront for a car inspection before. I can pay you when I get back in a few minutes, because it's not like I am going to go anywhere: you do have my car. Or I can just take my business someplace else." Instead of responding, he just gets out of my car and walks away. So I go back in the front and ask if this is how they run their business, and the guy at the desk says, "Well I told you you needed $35." (No, he didn't.) I told him that the other guy had poor communication skills, and explained that I don't care if I have to pay upfront when it is clearly communicated in a way reflective of good customer service, and not just shouted at me repetitively in a way that isn't clear. At this point, the other guy comes out and starts shouting at me again, saying he usually says "35" three times, but this time said it five time, implying that I must be an idiot for not understanding what his neanderthal-like method of single word communication meant. I let them know that they needed to improve their communication skills and customer service and that I would be taking my business someplace else, and I left.

Choosing a new auto shop is a difficult task. I know very little about cars, and it seems like…read morealmost everything related to cars is very unfriendly to women, or maybe to people in general. So I looked on Yelp to find a place in the area that had good reviews. Pleasant Street Auto only had two reviews, but they also took the time to post their own description. And, I liked the range of photos (I'll admit that I was a bit charmed by the photo of someone spray-painting a dinosaur) and the notion that there would be a place to sit and do work, comfortably, not literally sitting outside on a curb as I've had to do on occasion in the past. I was not a great customer up front, I'll admit. I completely forgot our first appointment, and then I became lost on my way for the remedial appointment. Throughout, the staff was patient and professional with me. I can't say a word about the garage/work area because I never saw it, which felt a little odd, but I could certainly get used to it! I don't have the slightest idea what the machines and tools are for, anyway, and so I don't know that seeing and hearing mechanics work really enhances my experience. Instead, I left my car and keys and waited inside. The front desk manages repair work, body work, and also Hertz rentals. When I made my oil change appointment, I was a little worried that I might have a serious issue discovered, and I might therefore need to rent a car. If this had been necessary, I could have managed it all at one location. Convenient! The oil change didn't seem to take all that long. I should have timed it, but I didn't. I think the total wait - even though I was late for my appointment, was well under an hour. During that time, I tried to take advantage of the homey waiting area with a t.v. (though the cable was stutteringly-intermittent), WIFI that didn't seem to work at all, and computers with internet service that required someone to come in and fix it for it to work at all. The computers were kind of old, dodgy, and dirty, but I was able to do some work, which was great. For families, there are toys and books (for kids and adults) and an area for children to hang out and play. I can only imagine that, since the space is open and adjacent to the desk area, it's not much fun for staff when the space gets "active," but it's very nice an accommodating. Overall, this is a huge leap over sitting on a solitary chair in a drafty space next to a noisy garage, or as said, literally sitting on a curb because there's no indoor seating at all. The best bit was that Lee, I believe a member of the family who runs this business, came out to speak with me personally while they were finishing up with the car. He spoke with me in language that I could understand, but not with condescension. There were a number of potential issues with the car, and he prioritized them for me, but he didn't make me feel pressured in any way. I feel like Yelp helped me to find a great fit for a new auto shop, and it's a great relief. I'd highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to feel confident about a family-run business that is professional, caring, and extremely well-rounded in terms of services available at a single location. With comfort, too! Great, great experience overall.

This place is the BEST! My sister and I went in and told Doug what we're looking for and how much…read morewe could spend. It's a vehicle that's not all that commonly available in this part of the country, and our price limit was right at the limit of what would be reasonable. He listened to us very carefully, asked lots of important questions, then set out on what can only be properly described as a "quest" -- and FOUND exactly what we were looking for! He was able to negotiate a great deal on it for us, then brought it back to the shop. This is where it gets even more wonderful, because the shop is known for being owned and operated by a mechanic with a sterling personal reputation and professional credentials, having trained in a shop up in Guilford, VT that is literally known as the very best one in the whole area. They assured us they'd go through and fix anything and everything on the vehicle that needed tweeking or repair before we picked it up, to make sure it was up to THEIR standards of excellence -- and that the price would not go above our limit even if they had to eat some of the cost. They explained this is because they shopped for the vehicle with their mechanical expertise, so if it cost more to fix it was that they'd assessed it wrong and should make good on it. Well, long story short, we took delivery of exactly the used vehicle we wanted, in perfect shape, looking like it came off a showroom floor, and it's everything we could have dreamed and hoped for. In the process, we found a mechanic we'll use and trust from now on, and made friends to boot! It's not easy to find a really superior mechanic and shop that has a personal value system based on ethics of doing what's right. Green River Auto is that place! And if you want a used car, I honestly do not see how you can do ANY better than you will if you go talk to Doug there. If he can't find it for you, it's not available. I've lived all over the country, from Texas to California and back again, and I have NEVER found a shop like this one, and never even imagined a person like Doug existed. He's literally come up with a whole new wonderful way to buy a used car you can count on, rely on, and be overjoyed with.
