I was just asking for trim boards around the roof of a one story home to be painted. Very little scraping to be done but they are dirty as we get lots of dirt in this location. That is one way the paint will peel in no time. I have no way to know if he was going to do it but his answer led me to believe he had to add more in the estimate. We did not use this company as the estimate was higher than I paid in the past for trim on a home that was this size and one story. Last year I had all the trim boards painted plus a wood fence area off front porch (about 4 ft) on a two story home for less than this company was going to charge. It was a professional company I found on Yelp. So I did not feel like the price was right for the amount of work on this home. My house was 17 yo then. While I got 2 other quotes, Steve offered the best price. I hired him. My house appeared to be nicely painted at first. I rarely use my backyard. Back in 2024, I was working in yard & noticed virtually all the windows' weepholes were closed up by heavy paint. Anybody who watches construction videos knows those weepholes need to stay open to allow rain water to seep out. I had to go all around my home & slice through the thick layers of paint & reopen them all up with a small knife. All my windows were like that. I looked up to see the attic soffits also were partially covered with heavy paint--it wasn't really bad, but no paint should cover those vents up at all. It's important to keep them open for proper attic venting. (I would only learn all of this after watching home inspectors commenting on problems they found on newly built homes from YT. I never owned a single family dwelling before.) I then went around my home last fall to find the wood framing has split apart already around all my windows & garage frame. I don't know that they even caulked all that area I thought they did back in 2022. I was excited initially, but time is showing Steve & crew didn't do their job properly. NOT happy. The guys were very careful to cover the carpets, flooring & furniture to prevent paint spots. They masked off the ceilings that were not being painted so the new wall colors stayed off. The stairway was carefully done~~even at the 12' level. They managed to paint 6 rooms, a stairway & a hallway in 2 days time as promised. It looks REALLY good, no mess & NO REGRETS. We are very happy with the results & can't wait to show off the new interior colors!!
