Part 1 - Working with David and DLR Construction was one of the poorest and least professional experiences I have had. It started by him showing up an hour early for the consultation appointment with no advanced warning or approval and he came with his grandchild which was also not shared prior to his arrival. We proceeded with the walk through anyway giving him the benefit of the doubt. We let David know that we already had all of the material for our bathroom remodel and explained that we were looking for someone to complete the plumbing, tile, electrical, and install of the items purchased. David said he felt it would cost about $10,000 and take two weeks to complete but shared the glass surround for the shower would take longer. He committed to completing all of the work including the glass, if hired so when he was done, we would have a completed bathroom to enjoy. He agreed to email us a quote and said he could start in about two weeks. a few days later I had not received the quote so I contacted David by phone and asked for it. He said he was out of town and could not send it but another job had postponed so he could start sooner. He proceeded to send me a text message outlining the work and quoting $12,000.00 saying he could start right away if we agreed. There were many items missing from the text message such as the paint, electrical, and glass so I called him to discuss and he said that this was all included as well just like we talked about when he was on site consulting on the project. We agreed to hire him. He was supposed to start the following day and arrive between 11am and noon. By 12:30pm I had not seen, or heard from him so I text him and he called about twenty minutes later to say he was running behind and would be to my house in about an hour. He showed up two hours after the one hour window he gave me and had I not contacted him, I would have had no idea where he was or if he was even coming. Throughout the course of the project, he flooded my pantry ceiling and did not take proper measures to fix it and ensure there was no residual moisture damage. He turned off my water on two sperate occasions without telling me first. I expected the water to be shut off at some point for plumbing, however I work from home so it would have been nice to at least have a 5-minute notice before it was just shut off for three hours. Even though he had the vanity on site the whole time, he neglected to measure it and built the pony wall and set plumbing based on standard material and when he went to install the vanity, he informed me that he was going to have to make additional cuts on my brand-new drawers to fit around the plumbing. Why would you not measure before hand and move the plumbing to work with the vanity? It was on site and available to be measured and inspected.
There is more but I'm limited in characters here. Point is, do not hire them! read more
