4.1 Month: February 2019 Day and time: Tuesday evening Food: 4 stars We were a group of seven, and had two plates of brussels sprouts, the garlic bread, and four pizzas. That was plenty. The sprouts were crispy and, thanks to an orange vinaigrette, refreshing. I didn't try the garlic bread but the group gave it rave reviews. All four wood-fired pizzas were great. The crust is thin, and I ate one slice of each without stuffing myself. The Fancy Nancy is a simple red pizza with burrata. It was a little tricky to cut and assign to slices, and it would have been easier to spread it before taking slices. The Paulina was a pepperoni with jalapenos, and was my favorite. The Popeye comes with artichoke, spinach, and soft cheeses, and we added smoked chicken. It provided balance to the tomato bases of the previous two. Our fourth pizza was the Butternut, which came with butternut squash and sunflower seeds. It was closer to garlic bread than pizza, but the nutty taste and sweetness pushed it towards 'dessert pizza', and it complemented the others. Setting & Atmosphere: 4 stars It was lively on Tuesday night. We took a chunk of a long bench table close to the window, and were right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. During the course of the night, our table partners were a young family with kids and a group of 20-something women. The vibe was fun, and I think it's great that parents bring children to hipper places on busy evenings. Drink: 3-4 stars I drank Old Styles and whiskey shots all night and was perfectly content. Others tried the cocktails and enjoyed the Moscow Mule in particular. Happy hour ran all night, and I think that contributed to the atmosphere. Service: 4 stars We were well-served all evening; our server was always available to take drinks orders, in part because we were seated next to her station. The pizzas came quickly and stacked considerately for easy access. Value: 5 stars Pizzas are two for $22 on Tuesday nights, Old Styles and PBRs are $2, whiskey shots are $2, and house cocktails are $7. We spent $24 each, and had the best time. Outstanding value. Return: Yes I highly recommend taking some friends for a fun midweek dinner, perhaps before going out. I'm not a huge pizza guy, but, if pushed, prefer thin crust. Reno makes it legitimately well. The lox bagel is always a win for me and sometimes I will divulge in the lox bagel and cold brew after my morning run. Great experience at Reno. Came on a Friday night and it wasn't too packed. We were sat next to the door which was fine since there wasn't much traffic in and out. I had 5 in my crowd and we were seated immediately. (A blessing for Friday night). I was hoping to enjoy their patio but it had rained and this we couldn't sit out there. Ordered the fancy Nancy pizza which was decent. I was hoping the burrata on the pizza would spread mote easily but it was a mild mission. Never the less, the flavor was on point. For the appetizer, my companion opted for the garlic focaccia which was pretty much a pizza.... it was good but I wouldn't get it if you're planning on getting a pizza. This is much more than a pizza joint! We went here for a private event and the food was unbelievable! More like a gastropub... Meatballs, crustini, funky salads, Wisconsin Barata (sp?) cheese desert. And the pizzas were unique and fabulous. A must try in the Logan Park neighborhood. read more

Reno is a gem. I have yet to come for lunch, but I have stopped in here on multiple occasions for a small snack to go before I go to work. They have awesome cheddar biscuits that melt in your mouth! They are fresh and tasty, especially when warmed up with butter. I also have had their savory bread pudding, which is to die for. It is something different that is worth trying. The atmosphere is really neat here. They have a small bar area and a beautiful patio. I definitely recommend coming here if you want something quick, reasonable, and delicious. The Fancy Nancy with pepperoni. My god. One of the best pizzas I've had in Chicago in part because they take a regular pepperoni pizza and put a big ol' blob of delicious burrata in the middle. Absolutely divine, and a must order when you go to Reno. What a fantastic dining experience. We also tried the Popeye and the Lambeau, a Wisconsin-inspired pizza with bratwurst, cheese curds, and sauerkraut. I'm not a fan of sauerkraut myself, and DEFINITELY did not expect to like it on a pizza, but it definitely works here. I would sub in bacon instead of smoked chicken in the Popeye just because bacon and spinach is almost always a great flavor combination. This place is cash only, but there's a Chase right across the street. Service here is fantastic -- attentive without being overbearing. Big Reno fan, and I will be back. read more

I loved the atmosphere but I don't love the seating, this is in a cold city...people wear big winter coats and hats and scarves, the small seats and tables are so minimalist that it's difficult to get comfortable, especially when you constantly feel like you're in the way for the servers. Besides all that, we had the kale salad, which was pretty good, small portions fyi. Then got the butternut pizza (my favorite!) and the alley-oop which we asked for with burrata instead of goat cheese but we got burrata and goat cheese together, which was a little meh, plus the burrata is not worth the extra cost - stick with goat cheese if you get that pizza, lots of scrumptious veggies. read more

Seriously, I'm not hard to please, especially when I'm going on a vacation with an open-mind. Longman & Eagle down the road had a 1.5hr wait, so the date and I decided to walk down the street and find something else. This place had a cute little outdoor patio, so we decided to see if we could sit outside and eat, and just our luck they had one seating left outdoors. I think that's a good sign that it's meant to be! ...And, I was right! I forgot exactly what the mister order. He got some sandwich dealio and it came with a bag of chips. His sandwich was massive for the price, so he took half it back to our rental to eat later. He got a mimosa with his food and it was good. I got the Egg BLT breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. It didn't come with any sides and it was on a greasy English muffin but whatever! The bacon in the BLT was cooked perfectly. It paired nicely with my Russian mule. I would come here again to sit, eat, and people watch. So I really don't like cash only places, but we've been meaning to try Reno's a while now and it's super close to home, so we did the double round trip to grab cash and then eat. We had the gnocchi with shiitake and the fancy Nancy pizza. The gnocchi was delicious, and the pizza was just ok. It was a little soggy and came out less than warm. It was affordable and the service was good. I can't comment on the drinks (for once). I'll be back. read more

Came here for their breakfast bagels and had a pretty good experience. The staff were all super friendly and seemed like very chill people. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very cool. I loved all the decor and the tables. For breakfast I split the Hook and the Cowboy killer with a friend. The Hook was by far the better dish. All of the flavors worked very well with one another and it was light enough for it to be an enjoyable meal to start my day. The Cowboy Killer lived up to its name. It was very meaty and the trinity bun was very dense. I would only recommend this dish to someone who has a serious appetite in the morning. I would be interested in exploring more of their menu options and their pizza if I lived closer to town. read more

First time I went both pizzas were great. Second time, both were meh. Service was slow both times but way more annoying the second time- less than half the tables were full! They warned us about the hour wait for pizza, but the time it took to get a PBR was pretty pathetic. read more

We live right around the corner from this gem and have loved it for a long time but our experience this morning cemented our support for Reno even more! I read a few reviews that the pizza at Reno is Chicago's replacement for long lost famous Great Lakes. Well, let's not go that far. I will be returning to try a bagel but I won't be rushing over for the pies. The Za here is amazing, I was in for a special after party/wedding event and we could not have had a better time. Reno is in the HEART of Logan Square, best I can tell a Williamsburg-esque neighborhood in Chicago, but frankly way cooler and less douchey than Williamsburg. The pizza artist is just that - art artist. It's possible that I was particularly in love as I had imbibed at the wedding, but I could not get enough. Not your typical Chi-town deep dish, these guys roll the NYC thin-crust, but exception and unique options, you just can't go wrong. Stiff pours on the drinks, with a lovely outdoor eating area, and with 74-degree weather we were simply in heaven. I'm really looking forward to trying the formal menu next time I am in town. Our group started with a burrata and strawberry french toast, which was the perfect blend of rich creaminess and bright strawberries, served on a generous slice of ciabatta toast an drizzled with a robust balsamic glaze. I had the Paulina pizza, which combined a typical yet tasty mozzarella, red sauce, and pepperoni pie with a bright and not-too-spicy jalapeño pesto. The toppings were delicious and generous, and the crust was perfectly charred and chewy. My whiskey sour was a great addition; perfectly crafted with bourbon, lemon juice, and egg whites for a creamy finish. read more

Food was fine, waitstaff was pleasant but man was the male bartender rude! I don't normally write Yelp reviews but my experience at Reno has been eating at me all day. I am visiting Chicago from out of state. I've been here several times before, and one of my favorite things about visiting is the food scene. I brought my dog this trip, and was cruising around Logan Square looking for a place with a patio to grab lunch with my pup. There was a sign on the door that said ask host inside about patio seating, so as I always do when a business has an unknown pet policy, I picked up my dog (hypoallergenic and under 10 lbs) and stood in the doorway. There was no one around (customers or employees) so I took one step inside to just look for a human to ask if I could sit outside with my dog. Given that friendlier waitstaff later brought my dog his own bowl of water, and even waved me inside at one point, I know now that this place does allow pets. When the bartender saw me, he immediately snapped in the rudest and most shame-inducing tone I have ever heard from a hospitality worker "you can't bring that dog in here! Get outside!" Stunned, I said "I just want to know if I can eat outside with him" at that he rolled his eyes and told me to wait out front. He never came back out. A little bit later, a waiter saw me waiting outside and even waved me in, but I was too afraid of the bartender to open the door again. I ended up staying for lunch, and though the bartender came outside a few times to bring people drinks, he never once apologized and and seemed to glare and me and my dog when he noticed us. Not sure what that guy's deal was (maybe he just hates dogs?) But I felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable at this place it has really ruined my day. As the owners probably hope customers walk away from their meal feeling the exact opposite of that, I thought it would be worth letting them know. I'm out here a lot and will definitely never be returning to Reno. read more

We live in the neighborhood and finally went and sat on the patio at Reno! We were sat quickly (on a Wednesday). It's cash only but they had an ATM so that was no big deal. We ordered the kale salad and the fancy nancy. The kale salad was lacking flavor/acidity and wasn't really massaged/broken down at all so I'd skip that next time. The pizza was well executed- light crust, good flavor and the burrata was a nice treat on the pie we chose :) We would come back to try more things! Reno is some really tasty pizza. Nothing life-changing but way better than your basic franchise place. The cheese and ingredients are all top notch and the crust is really great. Service is fast and friendly and place has a nice atmosphere. Definitely a good place to go with a big hungry group. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Reno is one of our favorites in the neighborhood; a great selection of healthy food (their ante pasta is always a vegan cold dish) and classics, like the Reuben and the Pine Chicken Sandwich (fried chicken thigh topped with white cheddar and spicy honey). Their salads are wonderful, and their soups are satisfying! The coffee is Dark Matter, which is really strong. Some things to consider: if going on a weekend, ask for the check when you order your food, and come armed with exact change so you aren't trapped in restaurant jail. Their espresso drinks can't be made decaf, but they have some great decaf teas and fancy sodas. I got the kale salad once or twice, and never got it again because it was in big pieces and wasn't massaged or tenderized. Granted, this was years ago, and it may have been improved. I just won't risk it, because I can make salad at home! Besides those very minor things, I rate it 5 stars! read more

What a terrific place. Interesting selection of food at reasonable prices. Everyone was very helpful and service was very adequate. It wasn't load but not silent. All six of us had different things from the menu and all of us liked what we ordered, which is really something in my group. Be aware cash only, which I never have, but they have an atm. First, let me say service was wonderful. They were nice, always smiling and attentive. The pizza was ok, some of the combinations were interesting, but I wasn't blown away. When it hit the table my biggest disappointment was that it wasn't hot. I liked the space and if you're into dollar cans of beer, at least that's what I am assuming they charged the people to my left, like Old Milwaukee, Milwaukee's Best, Schlitz or Hamm's then this maybe your place. They certainly had craft beers and cocktails. It is true, cash only, though like others reviewers mentioned I didn't see the sign. Its such a rarity for cash only, unless you're ordering at the counter, it might be good for the wait staff to tell you when they drop menus rather than when they drop the bill. This was our first time here! There was no wait, as we went around 1 PM on a Sunday, but it was a loud environment and becoming more crowded as we finished eating. Regardless, our food arrived in a timely manner. We ordered a salad and a pizza, and both were quite tasty. However, there is a catch to this place that they fail to tell you before sitting you down. I've scooped up breakfast here many times and the service and food was great. Had dinner last night and was disappointed by the service. It was not very busy but the server was not very attentive. Food was ok and I'm surprised that bread isn't served with pasta. About $10 for pasta dish. Server did not ask if we wanted another drink and when we decided to get desert to go and he just brought the check. The bus person was extremely friendly. There was a wait for desert so another drink would have been nice. We did wind up going to the bar for that drink and the bartender was not very friendly and frankly acted like we disturbed him. The cash only policy is annoying but I knew that and should have gone to my bank for cash first rather than pay the ATM fee in restaurant. I'll keep grabbing breakfast but will pass on dinner. read more
