When I finally dig an inspector out, he said there was no issue whatsoever and that I was fine to just clean up some minor water spots on an interior window and do a better job caulking. I finally went for a second opinion, and not only did they find the nails were not galvanized and installed on top of the roof instead of on the side, water had leaked in quite drastically leading to a $3000 repair. This other company literally walked on top of my roof and with her bare hands, picked up the entire tack strip that is supposed to keep things glued down. She couldn't believe the nails that were used and the placement but more so, that this was said to be 'no issue' by a professional. Your guy that came out to investigate literally never even put his hand on it to wiggle it around and see if there was an issue, he just looked - no ladder, just climbed part of my balcony and looked. If I had listened to him and just caulked the interior window so that more water wouldn't have come through, this would've continued and become an absolutely horrific problem. I know customer service agents aren't always a reflection of the company but this gentleman was a 'master installer' his words. I'm not sure what there is more to say, but as a business owner you may want to know. As an aside, I do appreciate that even months later, someone responded to this. It's really a one-man show, so from here out I'll just refer to the guy by name--Kai. We originally wanted gutters cleaned when we bought the house. Kai recommended that we should also add sturdy foam to filter out debris. I got some from the local big-box hardware store, stacked it up on the porch, and a couple days later Kai cut it, scurried up to the roof, and installed it. Of course he also cleaned out the gutters beforehand. Nicest part was, it was easy to return the leftover boxes of unused foam. I had overshot the estimate by about 40%, and getting refunded on the unopened stuff was simple. Kai took the one partially-used box with him to make the next job cheaper for the next client. Since then, he has been back to blow debris off the roof (and the tops of the gutters). This is a noisy proposition if you're working from home and in meetings, but doesn't take long. He always shows up right on time and always hauls away all the debris, too. He does pretty much everything on the top or outside of your house. He has washed all of the windows (outside) and skylights for us, and even washes off the roof over the patio. The patio roof is transparent corrugated heavy plastic. When he washes stuff, he uses I think ionized water, or some other soapless solution--nothing but water running off into your yard. Dig it! He has even screwed in a couple light bulbs for us that were too high to reach with any of our own ladders. We just asked if he could run up his extension ladder and screw them in, and he happily said "sure" and away he went, even though we didn't talk about it before he was out that day. Now we have long-life LED bulbs over the porch and I didn't have to clamber my clumsy behind way, way up on a ladder. He's always helpful, friendly, and cheerful, usually cracking jokes most of the time he's on site. I'm so happy to have him around to help. He sends invoices via email and you pay him via paper check. I always have projects for him every year, and he always delivers.

So I set up a detailed project in yelp, and had a contractor from about 40 miles away send an estimate in just a couple of minutes. Time and distance were going to cost an arm and a leg, so I let him know Id get back to him. A bit later I had another hit. It was Marc with Evolved Off Grid, and he was immediately available due to a shipping delay affecting the job he was on. AND his callout and hourly charges were *very* reasonable. I have never felt so lucky. He was on my doorstep in about an hour, and the install was on. It was obvious by the get-go that Marc is very knowledgeable with a ton of experience. He worked quickly and efficiently, and was able to actually converse without slowing down. When we ran into electrical issues, Marc took care to isolate the issue and find a solution. After determining the issue was a faulty connection on the unit, he was able to quickly resolve it. He kept his work area organized, had ample tools/supplies in his vehicle, and was careful to clean up afterwards making sure to leave behind any extra piping and connectors from his purchase at the store. When calculating the final bill, Marc capped the final fee at 3 hours. Due to no fault of his own, it went past this and he diligently found a solution, but didn't feel right charging the full amount, knowing it would create a hardship for us. He is a *good* man, and we are so grateful. So by now, you can see why we unequivocally recommend Marc and Evolved Off Grid for anything RV. His high level of expertise and integrity were a welcome relief to what surely would have been the install-from-hell had I attempted it on my own. Oh. And here is the icing on the cake: If there are any issues that arise with the unit's installation, he will happily come out and remedy the situation free of charge. Yes, you read that right.
