I used to color and even cut my own hair, but I've set up appointments ever three weeks for the next couple of months because I finally found a stylist with real talent (and it doesn't hurt that she's fun to talk to). Quality. As I said, Christine's color is fantastic - I get compliments on my hair now that she's taken charge. More importantly, the color's SO much better for covering those pesty...um, silvers and lasts much longer. Price. On par with what I paid at Fantastic Sam's down the road and SO much better. Ambience. The salon is pleasant, the staff are friendly. Note. I had Aveda's version of the Brazilian the week before my color on Monday and found that it sucked all the color out of my hair. If you can live with bad color for a week out of every three months or so, no big deal. But for me, it was embarrassing to go to work with a markedly different hair color - bad color - people didn't know what to say. Now, my hair is very thick and sucks up any color, conditioner, etc. so my hair may not be ideal for this process. I still have to work with my hair almost as long in the morning, so between that and the fact that I hated what it did to my color so much, I doubt I'll have it done again. Also, I think it damaged my hair, so I had a trim with Christine. Bottom line, if you have thick, poreous hair, you may want to think twice.

No one could seem to handle what I thought was a pretty simple color request there, either-I left the salon looking like I was trying to pull off a Goth look, or with brassy, underprocessed hair. Finally, I found a little salon a couple miles from home that's even open Sundays, the least hectic day of my week. While not as well appointed as Cole's, it's tidy and clean and I'm not paying Cole's prices anymore either. I purchased a GHD flat iron for about $60 less than it cost at Cole's, no small amount to my wallet. More important, I now have a stylist/colorist-Nancy, the owner-who understands my hair, and has restored it to the best shape it's been in years. My grays are gone and my color is as close to natural as it can get. I've never had to wait more than a day or two for an appointment, and was even able to get in the same day for a cut and color-about a two hour appointment. Save yourself some money and cross Yankee Doodle from Coles and give this salon a shot.

The space is cozy and feels like everything is placed properly (is that 'good flow?'). I love the services that are offered and may have to try something new. Meanwhile, this is where Erika, my Style Goddess, is working her magic. If you want a terrific haircut (bonus: She's a certified Deva Stylist!) and the VIP treatment, get in her chair!
