The service was friendly but slow on a Friday mid-day.

The restaurant was super quiet when we went as it was a Monday afternoon when most people were probably at work. The interior was quite elegant very clean and royalty looking. The service was 10/10. Waiter was very attentive and we could tell he paid attention to detail. He gave great food recommendations and definitely had knowledge of what's on the menu. Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. If i'm ever in town again and in the area i'd want to try their happy hour or chacuterie spread!

Steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing. They decided to close the patio because of lightning and potential rain, and were so apologetic about that. The menu changes every month and is a four course prix fixe menu. Our first course was a bean and kohlrabi salad with a yogurt dressing with some other goodness. It was so bright and a great summer salad! The second course was tomato, eggplant, and clams with some greens in a clam broth. Absolutely fantastic and we were so glad that we had bread to soak up the excess broth! We had two options for the third course (a pork dish with garlic and ginger, and a pasta dish with chanterelles, corn, and cauliflower), so I ordered the pasta and my partner ordered the pork so we could try both of them. Both were delicious, but we both agreed that the pasta was the better of the two. We had two options for the finale (a goat cheese with nectarine, and a strawberry, raspberry, and pepper dish with vanilla ice cream), so we each ordered one of them. Both were great -- hard to pick a favorite! We also had pour over coffee. They get their coffee from Dispatch (a Montreal coffee shop), and we enjoyed it a lot. The menu was nothing short of genius, and the execution of the meal was done with such care and precision. You are able to watch them prepare every course. The level of work, and artistry, that goes into each dish was a joy of excitement. This was my favorite meal on my visit to Montreal. Overall, a must try if you love French cuisine!

Their continental breakfast was so good we didn't bother ordering anything off the regular menu. Each breakfast came with a pastry of choice, and I got the (very large but delicious) croissant. There was also a yogurt parfait with berries and granola that was a perfect compliment to the carbs of my croissant. I didn't really get my coffee refilled so I'm not sure if that's all you get, but it was still a lovely coffee and I enjoyed dining here. They also have a really lovely outdoor patio that we finally got a moment to visit. I would have come for the patio alone, it was so lovely and everything I needed on a warm summer afternoon. Starting off with two types of bread with butter which was very good. Ordered the Lamb Shank and it was excellent. Not to be confess with beef shanks ( Osso Buco ) but just as tasty. Soft, tender and moist. Sitting on a bed of artichoke harts and potatos with brown gravy. Pros: Everything was good. Cons: My dinner partner had the stake and it was dry and tuff. Would I return? Yes and would order the shank.

It is an all you can eat buffet with coffee and tea service. In an addition I had a custom made white egg omelette. The buffet had all of the trational breakfast suspects like eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, etc. The Canadian specific items included crepes (the standout for me) and French pastries. The language is French primarily in Montreal. I had to brush some French out of the cobwebs of my brain. The restaurant was sparsely populated when we arrived at 7:30 am by 7:45 am folks were coming in droves. We did not feel in pressure to rush out the restaurant. Love a low-key, laid back environment... Food and beverages were excellent!

That being said, we made the short walk from our room to start the day. Maison Boulud is one of several restaurants by chef Daniel Boulud. In addition to this location in Montréal, I believe there's another one in Singapore. The restaurant conveniently has an entrance off the lobby, though it also has its own dedicated entrance on the street. The interior was mostly empty when we arrived, mainly because it was a lovely day and most patrons (including us) opted to sit in their outdoor area. The decor is top tier - high end finishes with interesting art and pops of color throughout. The outdoor area was semi-enclosed with lovely views of foliage and a small pond with ducks swimming...aww! For breakfast, they offered the option of a la carte or their buffet. We opted for the latter, which was quite abundant. There was a great selection of traditional breakfast offerings like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt, and fruit. They also had some interesting pastries and breads, plus an omelette station. Everything I tried was delicious. Service was great, we were taken care of promptly and despite it being self-service, we never felt ignored. Overall, I had a great experience at Maison Boulud. I don't think I got the quintessential experience as I was only here for breakfast, but I would definitely return for another meal.
