I was on the hunt for a new sink bowl, after my wife accidentally dropped a large candle into our bathroom sink. The candle, surprisingly enough, created a sink bowl with no bottom. Our handyman found this place, quite randomly, in the yellow pages after searching for places that have custom order sinks ready in less than 2 weeks. What makes this place stand out it the fact that they make all their sinks on site, which saves the hassle of waiting longer for custom orders to be mailed out, made, and then shipped back. We made the custom order and they had it ready in a week. The lady helping us in the show room was absolutely a pleasure to work with. She was quick, efficient, informative, friendly, and super sweet. She never tried to oversell us and she even threw in our backsplash for free. If you're ever looking to remondel your house with anything marble, I highly recommend this place. Great results with no hassle. Now who doesn't like the sound of that. read more

Beware! Big changes here and all for the worse. The owner has major medical problems and is completely and permanently out of the picture. Son, "Bubba" (that's how he introduced himself), and owner's wife, Bonnie, are running the business. Typical example of how they treat customers: they don't answer the phone. I was standing there, trying to discuss what I needed, and noticed that the phone kept ringing. I finally said, "Do you need to get that?" "Naw, we just let it go to the machine," said Bubba. I tried to tell myself that they just didn't want to be interrupted while discussing my order but over the course of doing business with them, I discovered that every time I called them or my contractor called them, they just can't be bothered to answer the phone. Often, they're not even there during business hours and we wasted several trips trying to find them. The worst thing is that they screwed up our order so badly, *twice*, that I have to conclude that the people working there now have no idea what they're doing when it comes to cultured marble. The dimensions were wrong *twice*, the front of the vanity was crooked, the color (the 'swirls' of color) was so badly distributed that it looked like a drunken six-year-old had scraped it with a broken stick - and it was just as bad the second time. I keep remembering Bubba telling me "I can make anything!" Bubba's confidence is much, much greater than his competence. Thanks to Bubba, my very simple bathroom remodel that was scheduled to take 4 - 6 weeks took more than three months (13 weeks). Over the years, I've seen other businesses that were started by one man who was very good at what he did and built the business up because he cared about doing good work for his customers. In the case of TriCity Marble, that man is gone from the business and no one who is left cares or is capable. Notice, too, that they've added the word "Remodeling" to the business name. This makes me wonder if that's what Bubba wants to do - instead of cultured marble. Summary: don't trust TriCity Marble with your cultured marble order. Dealing with them is one of the worst, most frustrating experiences I've ever had because they not only don't care, they don't have a clue what they're doing. read more

OK, I am a fan of TCM. I have remodeled 6 bathrooms in the three houses I have owned. I discovered this place in a remote part of Newark on a fluke and dropped in. They had a great selection and they were locally owned and operated (a definite plus in my book). Their estimated came out to my house pronto (on a Harley nontheless - a definite plus in my book) and in less than a week, I had everything installed. They even cleaned up their own mess (most contractors are slobs). I have recommended TCM to 3 friends and several family members. I am about ready to have them come out again. Mike (Bubba) came over and measured our bathroom, we went to the show room and Bonnie helped us pick out every thing we needed within our budget. Over the years I've remodeled our master and hall bathrooms twice. The first remodel was in 2001 and the second remodel was in 2014. Both times I used TCM for the marble. I've been very satisfied with the quality of their product and the quality of their service. Recently I had a small problem with the marble shower wall and the glass door installed by another company. I called Bonnie at TCM. She was very courteous and scheduled a service visit. Mike from TCM came over and very quickly took care of the problem. When I was a teenager, my family contracted with Tri-City Marble three times, once for each bathroom in the house. The finished bathrooms always came out really nice. Now as an adult, and a homeowner, I had the pleasure of working with Tri-City Marble for my own home and found the quality to still be far superior than what others have shown me. The folks at Tri-City Marble stand behind their product and their work, and because they are the manufacturer of the product, custom really means custom! If you don't see something you want, I would encourage you to ask if they can make it... the answer just may surprise you (in a good way)! Tri-City Marble charges a fair price for a quality product. I could easily find a cheaper product and services for "the same thing", but after having owned 5 homes now and each having significant work done on them, cheaper is not better and "the same thing" really is not even close. As for the purchase experience, they are not "pushy" or constantly trying to upsell you with options. Their showroom has a good variety of showers, tubs, and whirlpool tubs to spark your imagination. If I could leave more stars I would. We had our bathroom done in 2004 and it still looks great and gets compliments. I recommend them all the time. They did such a good job and where a pleasure to work with. I love my bathroom and it's so much easier to keep clean than the old tile and grout. We found them to very reasonably priced, much cheaper than Custom Kitchen and Bath on Fremont Blvd. We kept our custom oak cabinet and toilet, gutted everything else and came in at 8 grand. That included having the walls getting a new skim coat which wasn't cheap. read more

Randy R.'s review describes many of the same problems I encountered when dealing with TriCity Marble. On May 22, I was given TriCity Marble's business card and told to go there and pick out the marble for my bathroom remodel by my contractor, who had written down everything I needed to order and the quantity. I called TriCity Marble to make sure they would be open when I planned on going, which was the next day. There was only a recorded voicemail greeting which stated the store hours. When I arrived there, around 11:30 am on Friday, May 23, the store was scheduled to be open. It was closed and a sign was taped to the front that said they were closed. I called the phone number on the sign and left a message stating I needed to place an order and to please call me back. I called again sometime later when there was no call back from them. I finally received a call back on Tuesday, May 27. The store was also closed May 27 due to illness. I drove to TriCity Marble again on Thursday, May 29. Veronica took my order based on the notes I had from my contractor. She called and spoke to my contractor to clarify questions she had. I paid half the amount and Veronica said she would call me when the order was ready. She said the orders were usually being completed in 5-6 days. On Monday, June 2, I called TriCity Marble to charge the balance owed for my order. I referred to my estimate number E-5206 and paid with my Visa credit card. I wanted the order fully paid for so there would be no problem when the order was completed and my contractor came to pick it up. 15 days after placing the order and having not being notified that my order was ready, I called TriCity Marble regarding the status of my order. Veronica answered the phone and said she would look into it and call me back. She calls back and says everything is finished except they need an additional measurement for the window sill. She said she had just called and left messages for my contractor to supply the measurement. I asked Veronica why no one had called before asking about the measurement or why she hadn't asked for the measurement on the day I ordered. She rudely replied that it wasn't her responsibility. My feeling is that it was a mistake to pay the full amount owed, because once TriCity Marble had been paid, there was no incentive to make sure I ever got my order. My contractor finally picked up the completed order on June 23, a full month after my first visit to TriCity Marble when they were unexpectedly closed. I was forgetting about the unpleasantness of dealing with TriCity Marble, when today (July 22) I received a call from Veronica asking me to pay the balance of what I owed. I explained that I had called on Monday, Jun 2, and paid the balance by charging to my credit card. I told her I was not surprised that they screwed up that transaction with all the other problems I had with dealing with them. Veronica said that someone had just died. I hung up as she was ranting about how rude I was. I guess she thought I should be more understanding of their incompetence in their grief stricken state. A few minutes after Veronica's phone call, I received a fraud alert e-mail message from my Visa card warning me of an attempted charge by TriCity Marble. I provided them the required information on June 2 to charge the amount I owed. They somehow didn't complete the transaction that day and are now trying to make a charge without my authorization. You only have yourself to blame if you ignore this review and decide to do business with TriCity Marble. read more

Last year we decided to update our bathroom. We looked into different options for materials and accessories for our remodel. When we decided on Cultured Stone for our material we went to Tri-City Marble. They are a family owned business located in Newark, CA. We were very pleased with the staff and how they were helpful while looking through the showroom full of bathroom displays and the large amount of options of materials and colors. They were able to help us plan and set -up our individual bathroom remodeling plan. We got all of our questions answered and were able to find all our extra accessories options;shower door, cabinets, plumbing and fixtures and the toilet. We opted to get the company to do a full remodeling and within a week they were at the door ready to start. From tear out to finishing touches Tri-City was done within 5 days. The crew was fast, hardworking and polite. They handed everything... tear-out, re-building, permits getting all accessories and bringing them to us and installing the material. It was so refreshing to have our bathroom finished without any stress and the bathroom looks great! Very easy to clean and maintain the material also... I waxed it down with pledge and just clean with Windex to maintain the shine. I would recommend anyone to go look at their showroom and check out what they have. I can't say enough good things about the buying experience here. We originally needed a shower pan, and ended up needing a custom size vanity top as well. For just a little over the cost of imported mass produced fixtures, Tri-City custom made (on-site in Newark) the items we needed. They were very nice, kept in constant contact with updates, and finished right on time. This is a family run operation and they treated us like family as well, even though our purchase was small copared to some of the complete bathrooms they can build. Remodeling by TCM just completed our bathroom and we're very happy with the results!! We wanted to better protect our bathroom from shower spray and selected cultured marble over tile since there is no re-grouting required and fewer seams to caulk. The TCM showroom provided many, many options/colors. We sit down with Bonnie, the owner, and worked up which option we wanted. TCM manufactures their own cultured marble which I really appreciated since there is no worry about damage during shipping from another location. TCM stayed within their initial estimate which we truly appreciated. Mike, TCM's general contractor, accurately determined the cost to tear down, install, complete the job. We had already received a number of bids from various general contractors and felt that Mike and Bonnie provided a truly honest price. Bonnie always monitored the job and kept us well-informed on progress. Both Mike and Jay did good work on the project itself. Anthony, who also works out of the TCM showroom, was also good to work with and answered my questions if Bonnie was supporting another customer/job. My Wife and I had performed extensive research on selecting the right materials and general contractor for our bathroom and we recommend that any other homeowner seeking a bathroom remodel also do their homework.
