After many attempts at getting my mental state in a healthier place, I finally found my solution in Rich - what a miracle worker and incredible human being!!! I've tried many different healing practices, and all have had their benefits (body focused), but Remedy Hypnotherapy was the first to really drive down deep into the psychological root of the issues. October 24, 2018 I walked into Rich's office with one goal in mind....quitting smoking. So to give you history from me and my smoking habits I have been smoking since I was 15, I am now 40 and have successfully quit 2 times over the years and failed at least 10 trying to quit. I was not going to write a review about my session with Rich, however after reading those 2 reviews I decided I will because I too am a 1 star review customer that's been so upset about how my session went and I decided to go to Rich only after seeing all his 5 star reviews. My session was a couple of months ago and it's definitely $435.85 and 3 hours I will never get back. First off it took me A LONG TIME to even make the appointment to see Rich, because that is one of my problems that I wanted his help with, how I just can't seem to decide on things or make changes in my life. I explained this problem to him on the phone when I called to make the appointment. I waited 3 weeks to get an appointment, I told Rich it was fine because it's taken me 2 years to call him after having him saved on my yelp page. I was excited the day of my appointment, arrived on time and wanted so badly for this meeting to help me. After 3 hours of Rich asking questions and referring to ghost being my problem for everything, my session had ran over and we never got to the 30 minute hypnotherapy part. I was so confused how this happened when he was in charge of our time and asking the questions. He offered saying I could come back, but again I was confused not sure if I would have to pay for another session and he wasn't leading me to believe otherwise. Then he offered to email the hypnotherapy part and I could just do it myself. At this point I was very disappointed that I was going to leave there with basically nothing and to put a cherry on top of my disappoint, I paid for the session with a credit card and the tablet he swiped my card popped up a screen asking to leave a tip. I sat there for a second, thinking are you kidding me! The session for 2 1/2 hours was $385, which I wasn't completely able to afford but I desperately wanted help. Now it was going to cost me another 15% and again I was leaving there with nothing but a total of 3 hours of questions and a bunch of ghosts that seemed to be my problem. Rich did send me the hypnotherapy part of the session about 5 days later. However, it hasn't been any help that I was hoping for, with all the 5 stars reviews talking about Rich being so supportive and there to help days and weeks after their session. I never heard a word from him after that email. Ultimately I am beyond disappointed because I wanted help, and I wanted to believe that hypnotherapy would help me. I have try counseling, acupuncture, homeopathic, meditation in the last few years and they all helped me in different ways; however, I know there are still something left in me so I decided to give the hypnotherapy a chance. I am glad I found Rich. He is nice, friendly, and honest. We have so much to talk about other than my issues. It's been almost two months now and I haven't feel this good for a very long time. I hope one day that insurance would cover hypnotherapy so more people would consider because it is very helpful. A good and experienced hypnotherapist can help you with 2-4 sessions compare to years of counseling. Don't get me wrong. I do see the benefits on counseling; however, it just taking a lot longer and the effects are not as powerful. My wife and I saw all the other great reviews and figured we'd see if we could learn anything here that could help us function even better. We've since just laughed it off as that-bizarre-experience-we-once-had. But, I was thinking back to how curious we were initially after reading all the good reviews, how natural it must be after a good experience to write a good review, versus how tempting it is to just want to move on after a bad experience, and figured it would be helpful to share ours: The session opens with a lengthy monologue Rich gives about how human beings are fundamentally flawed as a species and the root cause of the problems in the world are human emotions. He talks about how he's discovered tools that can save civilization by helping people suppress their emotions. If you watched Disney's Frozen and thought "Conceal don't feel", that sounds like interesting parenting advise -- where did they get that? The answer is Rich. They got it from Rich. After making it through the opening monologue we were already a little worn out. I think it would be ideal if he recorded that and had people watch it online ahead of time. It would both give people a good sense of who he is before coming in/if he's a good fit for them, and allow them to instantly hit the ground running in their sessions. After that, he had a series of exercises to get information from each of us. They were very hypothetical, so it was hard to know which way to answer; we didn't know where any of it was going. He would sometimes say "it's not super important, just say the first thing you think" and "this will form the basis for what we do later, so be sure to think carefully about it" often within the span of the same question. We found the questions really difficult, not because they were inherently difficult questions, but because they were so ambiguous and circumstantial. Eventually, he switched and said I was holding onto emotion and logic too tightly and needed to let go. I said I was concerned that the atmosphere was one of lots of confusion. That it felt highly likely that I wasn't properly understanding what we were talking about. That if we could clarify what everyone in the room was saying we'd all likely be able to come to very different understandings. My wife also tried to say she felt there was a lot of misunderstanding that easily be cleared up if we could just take a breath and each clarify ourselves, but she felt she was ignored "and gave up." Instead, Rich launched into an exhausting 2-hour monologue about the need to control emotions, with stories about horses running to rivers, selling fried chicken to gas stations and a picture of a sentinel from the Matrix. There wasn't really clarity on what outcome he was hoping to reach from all the stories. Afterwards, he made a lot of compelling arguments as to why we couldn't think poorly of his session: transformation is not always comfortable; things can seem bad before you realize they're good. He'll refund your money if you go through his process and still don't like it. If you can't trust his process, you'll never be able to escape the bounds of your own logic. Feelings are the root of problems, so you can't write a bad review just because you 'feel' uncomfortable. But, I think feeling 'confused', lost, and both of us feeling not listened to is different (or at least need to be disclaimed on his website if that is indeed part of his process). Maybe we both needed to do a better job expressing ourselves, but it has to be at least in part due to the environment created in that office. Many of the other reviews are for smoking cessation. I could easily imagine that Rich has a set script he executes very well that leads to a lot of success. But, from our experience, he does not adapt well when things aren't easily defined and he has to work with nuance. read more

I came to see Rich after my mother died unexpectedly. I had never experienced significant loss before and was a mess.  I was struggling in my professional and personal life. I recently looked into hypnotherapy for motivational purposes. I tend to lose motivation when starting a new project and in other general aspects of my life. Hypnotherapy is this almost cray-cray therapudic option that I never considered until a close friend told me that a single session straight up, changed her life. Before that, 100% honest, I thought of the "doctor with a watch" - this *is* that (without the watch), but it might be time to correct your understanding of how strong and effective it can be. My friend had my attention knowing the thing she got help with was something we all identified as a problem, but were scratching our head like, "well, correcting problem x is just something *you do*..." Here's where hypnotherapy helps. This process of building a "specific device" that wraps up your weakness(es) or concerns into a mantra that answers their question, corrects their missteps, is totally amazing. And leveraging a trance-like relaxation state as a way to exercise that mantra totally makes sense. Here's the catch, though. I'm pretty sure in order for it to work, you've got to believe in your therapist... You've got to believe in their heart so your mind can open up and listen to their voice, and fully trust in allowing them to lead the way. This is where you want Rich Rios... his work is amazing. You'll see. He's not only a great listener (he'll say after a perk, "tell me more about that..."), but also an unstoppable detective in tracking down the root cause. Just literally won't stop until getting you there. So there I was, chatting with Rich, six hours had passed (over the course of two days - Rich still insisting on charging me the single fixed rate for one session, regardless) and just when we thought we needed to resume a following day, Rich says, "I've got it! We're ready to do the session." and wrapped up his notes. At that point we started the true hypnotherapy session and I realized that Rich's "notes" during our conversation were actually the entire script for the session, which he then gave without a single hitch. People, I'm telling you, I almost cried during this session it was so moving. It was tailored so personal, and just for me. After that, I catch myself applying all the advice, easily finding applications of the various mantra's we created throughout the day, because again, it covered everything that we talked about. Friday, 8/23 was my first session with Rich and I was extremely impressed with his attention to details and not trying to rush the process for a newbie. I found him on Yelp. I had never done hypnotherapy, but came in open-minded and ready to listen, follow instructions and hope for good results. Personally, I came with the help to stop smoking (30 year smoker), which I found was one of the most common issues. I knew of 2 others who quit successfully with hypnotherapy and thought I would give it a try. Rich was very patient and stayed beyond the initial 1 1/2 hours without charging me overtime. He was very professional, caring, calming and made me feel very comfortable. He recorded the hypnosis session we did towards the end of the meeting and sent it to me that same night so I can listen to it 2x a day at home. He recommended 2x a day, but at least 1x nightly for 3 weeks for the best results. Rich even sent another relaxation recording when I had mentioned that I had issues sleeping/insomnia. Before our meeting, I expected to have to attend several sessions and pay $100's of dollars with the "hope" of it may be working for me. I was pleasantly surprised that Rich suggested just the initial session and to feel free to contact him for support in between. I attended my hypnotherapy session today and was totally amazed. Rich was extremely professional and his office was comfortable - in a condo type complex I think. It was clean, comfortable and professional as well. The amount of time we spent on the interview was impressive. I asked why it was called an interview when that word sounds so cold. It was more like a get to know you session. He advised me the word interview was required by the professional association he works with. (I think that is what he said, I am paraphrasing.) During the interview, Rich was able to help me pinpoint a few different areas I wanted to work on. Then the hypnosis session itself lasted about 30 minutes, I think, and I even get a copy of it to use so that the hypnosis will bring me to success. I feel the value of our session was worth so much more than what I paid. If I were to put a price on it, I feel it was worth about $400 for both parts of the session. Hypnotherapy, it's probably not what you thought. It's not voodoo or quackery and nor is it only for the clinically doomed "kray kray", at least not when practiced correctly. If you have a specific problem, a "real" manifested problem or one hidden and created by your mind, hypnotherapy can be effective. This is true especially for issues that have not responded well to other forms of treatment. Perhaps you don't have a "problem", but would like to improve your life, relationships, reach a goal, etc. Rich has a natural talent and developed skill for hypnotherapy. With his great intuition, you reveal the subconscious underworld related to your goal/issue/problem. It's unbelievable how the way we think act, react, feel and perceive is often so intimately rooted in life experiences without our knowledge. Rich is a phenomenal hypnotherapist. I've tried hypnotherapy twice previously with two others and didn't make any sort of improvement on my issues. I found other practitioners to be too regimented in their practice and very cookie cutter in their approach. Neither seemed to have any real understanding of my psychology, which really didn't help me. I like to say that with healing arts the modality is the paintbrush and the healer is the artist, and that the skill of the practitioner is far more important than what the choice of modality is. In my case, I had really severe anxiety regarding one person in my life, and I often had trouble making any sort of decision because my fear was so overwhelming that I would mentally spin around for hours in extended panic attacks which led to even more prolonged periods of depression. I've tried multiple prescriptions from psychiatrists with little effect, so I was really blown away at the changed that resulted for me. Rich was extremely, extremely helpful in helping me change the way I thought about my situation. I've been using his customized hypnosis tape for two weeks, and it's been beyond helpful with my depression and anxiety issues. I went to see Rich about 2 or 3 years ago when I bought a 3 session package in one of those coupon apps. Didn't know what to expect but I always wanted to try hypnotherapy. If you were to ask the awesome psychotherapist I had seen weekly for 10 years to describe me in one sentence, he would probably say, "She's a tough nut to crack." And he would be right. I'm highly defensive and stubborn, and I cling tenaciously to my negative, skeptical, mistrustful pessimism. My awesome therapist with the patience of a saint would also have to admit that he let me wriggle out of things quite a lot. Who can blame him? I'm an exhausting pain in the ass. Rich Rios deserves a round of applause for not putting up with any of my BS and easily deflecting all my carefully crafted tactics designed to avoid talking about scary feelings. He called me on my excuses and shone a light on my own contribution to my general unhappiness - miraculously, without pissing me off. Rich is highly engaging, super smart, has a very unique perspective, and I think he is very good at what he does. He worked with me for a ridiculous amount of time, and I was quite shocked when he charged me almost half of what the last hypnotherapist charged - for a far shorter and vastly less comprehensive session. It speaks to his integrity that he would spend an entire evening with someone and only charge for an hour, because he simply wanted to help someone who was struggling. It would seem that Rich is very invested in helping people just for the sake of it, not for monetary gain. I'd like to clarify the recent posts regarding the "relaxation track" for those who may not understand the reference - you are sent kind of a generic demo MP3 when you schedule your first appointment. He then records your hypnotherapy session during your visit and sends you an MP3 of that. What you wind up with is a custom track that hits on your individual key issues. I've never actually listened to the demo track so I can't comment, but the recording of my session is great. It's very fluid and cohesive, and I genuinely believe it's helping me to make progress with my veritable cornucopia of issues. In summary: Rich is a really good guy with loads of insight, who is in it to help people. He's got the fortitude to pin you down if you need pinning down. Well there is $440 and 6 hours we won't get back. The actual session felt like it was always almost going somewhere but never really got anywhere. We needed to write this really extensive essay based on all these questions ahead of time and we both gave it a bunch of thought to find Rich hadn't even read mine before the appointment. This meant much of the time was spent just filling him in on things he could've gotten by actually reading the assignments he set us. It felt like he did a lot of talking and very little listening and we left feeling disheartened and frustrated. On top of that, he promised to send us a deep analysis and exercises we could do once he came back from vacation. He was back 5 weeks ago and still no report!! At best this is an alpha male who will interrupt you a bunch and at the worst it's a total scam. Please be warned! He told us we could have a refund if we weren't happy so I'm guessing that's why you don't see more negative reviews on here. Run awaaaaay! read more

I have recently changed things in my life to reduce stress (including quitting a job that was no longer healthy for me) and have discovered meditation along with many other new things. I have listened to several different meditation and guided relaxation recordings and really find them relaxing and refreshing. I recently received an MP3 file from Remedy Hypnotherapy and put it on my iPhone and used earphones to listen (I find this the best way since it helps block out any noises that you might hear that might take your focus away). At first the narrators voice was hard to get used to, the drawl at the end of the words was throwing me off but after I listened a few more times I was able to get into a good relaxation and if I listen at night it put me right to sleep. The first few times I followed all the visuals and came out refreshed and relaxed. I also listened when I went to bed but I don't remember the end since I fell asleep. So obviously it works. I would be interested to try other recording for various issues but for general relaxation and to just de-stress your system or take a step back and reboot yourself this is the perfect way to go, get your MP3 and you can have it with you anytime you need it on your phone or iPod. I would LOVE to have an actual one on one session but do not live in the area so the MP3 is the perfect way to do this at home. read more

I LOVE THIS GUY. Rich is a super nice guy and a great therapist. He truly cares for your need & well being. I came to the session did not know what to expect. But I was going through some difficult time in my life and felt really suffered. Gave him a call and had long talk with him. Then I schedule an appointment based on my initial warm introduction he gave. The session is very personal & emotional. Rich listened carefully & patiently to every word that I said. I felt really understood by him. He also take notes and gave out advices helping me to have a better understanding of my problems, where it is coming from, where it is headed and how he can help me to be my better self. Rich helped me to untie the knots of my problems one by one, showing me a different approach to to face and deal with them. He was extremely easy to talk with. At the end of the session, he gave me a 45mins hypnosis session based on everything I told him and my concerns. His voice was smoothing and warm. The session was peaceful and afterward I felt too relaxed. Since I am easy to fall as sleep so Rich took extra time to slit my session into half and send me. Now my homework is to listen to the session everyday for 40 days. He also gives me little exercises to practice at home so that I can handle my emotion better. He also told me to call him every time I feel stressed out so he can talk with me and calm me down. And he did. I am totally amazed with Rich. He is definitely the best therapist ever (my gf visited many therapist and all of them was uncaring, only after your money). Look no further. Come to see him now, it will help you turn your life around just by talking with him. I felt connect with him in many different level. Tonight I had my first session with Rich and was extremely impressed. I didn't know what to expect because I am new to hypnotherapy and all I knew about Rich was the information from this yelp page and his website. I am SO happy I called and made an appointment. Rich was professional, caring and made me feel very comfortable even while talking about very personal, private issues. He was the first medical professional I've seen to actually take the time to fully understand the the body and mind components of my health condition and even stayed an hour later than expected in order to be thorough. He recorded the hypnosis session we did towards the end of the meeting and sent it to me so I can listen to it every day at home. Before our meeting, I expected to have to come in regularly to meet with Rich on an ongoing basis and was very pleased to learn that you don't necessarily need more than one session. Just from one session he was able to hone in on issues I have struggled with and sought professional (MDs, therapists etc) help for for over 10 years. He also let me know that even if I don't end up needing more sessions that he was always available for questions etc. I'm looking forward to listening to the tape Rich so carefully made for me and reporting back on my experience! read more
