At first, I did not think I needed hypnosis. After quitting my corporate job amid burnout during covid, I found Eric early on in my "gap year" where I was looking to heal and find new directions. I've done a few hypnotherapy sessions with other people in the past. Eric was so well rated on here and I needed help overcoming a trauma so I scheduled a consultation to talk to him over Zoom about his approach. Our free consultation was mostly him reading his notes/speech and every once in a while he would ask me an oddly-worded question, sometimes it felt like a riddle? And sometimes it felt like he was quizzing me to make sure I was paying attention. I was so thrown off by his communication style. He insisted not once but a few times that I get a referral from my doctor. This confused me as well because I've been to hypnotherapists in the past to help with my TMD and they've never asked for a medical referral. It's hypnotherapy and it would never be covered by insurance. To work with him you have to buy 4 sessions upfront totaling over $2k (I forgot the exact amount) which is extremely expensive. Sessions elsewhere have cost me $150-400 in the Los Angeles/San Francisco area. [Pandemic Review] Context: I am in my mid-30s, work for a fast-paced startup in marketing, live in the Bay Area, and not super familiar with alt medicine or healing practices. Essentially, I may be a lot like you. At first, I thought hypnosis could be a bit woo-woo because I am more the cerebral type. That said, I quite liked working with Eric (quite liked may be an understatement, maybe more like: I transformed). Doing hypnosis, I found I had more underlying anger and sadness than I had realized. And once released, only then did I realize how much it was holding back my life and affecting my day to day mood. At the start, hypnosis was unfamiliar to me. I found hypnosis helped make my anxiety go away. Also, I didn't realize how much anger I had and yet, hypnosis helped me release it. My favorite part was letting go of each of the baggage emotions: anger, sadness, fear, hurt, and guilt. Another benefit of the sessions was doing the Hawaiian process of forgiveness called Ho'oponopono as I found it to be therapeutic as well. When I first got the idea to try hypnotherapy, I was really unsure. It sounded really "out there." But I had struggled for 20 years with a very strong anxiety around driving on the highway - full blown panic attacks that held me back from ever using the highway to drive anywhere, so you can imagine how limiting that can be. I was tired of living that way, and figured, "what's the harm?" So I decided to try Eric out after reading all the great reviews. After four session with Eric, just about 8 hours of work, I can drive on the highways without anxiety. That is insane. I still can't believe it. I have been trying to get over this for TWENTY YEARS. I have tried cognitive behavioral techniques, I have been through two therapists, I have even hired a driving instructor even though I know how to drive just so someone would be sitting next to me with an extra set of driving controls. I really enjoyed that Eric puts you at ease. He is friendly and approachable, and not too invasive. He is not there to be your therapist - he is just there to help you overcome your own personal hurdle, for yourself. Whatever belief you need to rewrite in your subconscious, he will help you do it, without needing to be too involved in the 'counseling' of it all. Eric is kindhearted and a healer. I actually finished my last planned session and asked Eric if I could come back for four more to work on my weight loss difficulties!
