My adult child just completed 6 weeks in their PHP and IOP Program…read more Per my child, they said that out of all the 4 programs(Fremont, Gilroy, SF) my child attended, this one was by far the best PHP/IOP Program. At the intake appointment you get a packet full of information about the program, what to expect, your start date, and the schedule. Then on your first day they get a big binder where each day are given packets to put in their binder and other forms. It's basically like their bible/handbook/manual to keep and refer back to in case they need a reminder/refresher on coping skills, CBT, DBT, wellness plan, healthy boundaries, etc. Family Day is once a week where family can join in their class and find out about what their family is learning and also participate. It's really an eyeopener. Don't skip out on Family Day, you will definitely learn something about yourself! Lol Such an organized and informative program!

The staff from the front desk to the nurses were all wonderful, very devoted & compassionate. My mom felt very much at ease there. They kept things very clean & she said the food was good. We both appreciated the doctors & social worker who helped facilitate everything. I felt like they wanted to be sure she was truly ready to be released before they signed her out, which was important. The communication with me (updating me on her progress) could have been a little more frequent, but when I did speak to people they were knowledgeable & helpful. A couple articles of clothing didn't seem to make it home with her, nothing expensive though so not a big deal. Overall it was a big relief for her to be in a safe, clean place filled with caring & attentive staff. Special shout-out to J.S. who helped advise me the best way to get my mom admitted. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Scrivner to anyone needing this type of mental health care. It's so important to get the right care, don't be ashamed to reach out to find help when you need it.

If you can relate well to spiritual healing, it would be a mistake if you choose not to see her. Christen is technically a doctor who looks at your soul, and pinpoints the problems. As easily as a primary care doctor who examines your throat and writes prescription for a cold, she taps into her intuition and finds an answer for you. Although, I know a good number of highly intuitive people, I'd never met someone of such great intuition whose gifts are so aligned with her profession as a healer. Christen has a ton of tools in her tool belt, and can quickly get into the root of someone's problem. In her work, she leverages both her psychology degree, and spiritual training. If you add her intelligent mind, generous heart, great intuition, and gifts on top of that you won't be surprised why she is so successful at healing. Being an intuitive person who can evaluate what she hears to a good degree, I never heard a single comment from her that didn't resonate. In the course of 3 months we made so much progress with discovering the cause of some of my deep problems that rooted in early childhood or had ancestral roots. Navigating the subconscious mind seemed as easy as getting directions on Google Maps. When I finished working with her, I was at a stage in my life that I'd always struggled to be in. Something that would have been impossible by getting traditional therapy alone. I can not thank her enough.

One of her greatest gifts is being able to pinpoint the core wound that's triggering a dynamic (like cancer or self-doubt) and release it from the mind-body-soul experience. These tools help me increase the healing that happed during the session and become a bridge to the next session, so I always feel held and loved in a powerful way.

They would extend sessions under the pretext of "needing more time to reflect and appreciate the moment," which felt unprofessional and disrespectful of boundaries. The billing practices feel predatory, in addition to consistently billing more than what we've agreed upon to, Kevin attempted to have me pay for a series of non-refundable sessions. I've never encountered a therapist who pressured a client into paying thousands of dollars upfront when we don't even know if it's a good fit to work together yet. They are scam artists preying on emotionally vulnerable people, pure and simple. Additionally, this was the only therapy experience I've had where the therapist dominated the conversation, talking about 75% of the time or more. Sessions often felt more like listening to the therapist's reflections and stories than being guided through my own process. There was also pressure to give perfect ratings in surveys and to avoid providing honest feedback, I'm not sure if they are evaluated by their practice from these scores directly. This made it difficult to share genuine concerns or trust that feedback would be received constructively. Lastly, Stacy Clark and Kevin Cornelius did not have the skill or emotional presence to hold difficult emotions. They will simply take a long time to repeat back what you've told them rather than understand and dig deeper on the why and how the behaviors arose. Overall, I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking a professional, client-centered, and time-respectful therapeutic experience.

I originally wrote a glowing review back when I was a mere 21-year-old new to the world of therapy…read moreand all it had to offer. Let's start with the good: Transferring between therapists was painless if you feel like another practitioner is better suited for your needs. They're also very responsive via email, and while everything is online now, they're still very proactive in making sure to let you know of any cancellations. It is very clear that Mabel cares about her employees and will prioritize their health should they run into any difficulties in their personal lives, while making sure clients continue to receive the care that they deserve. Communication and scheduling are top-notch which is crucial (and I'd argue the bare minimum) when receiving mental health services. Here's where I felt the standard of care I was receiving felt not up to par: I suffer from BDD, which a complex disorder that requires nuanced care and language that does not insult my intelligence and also offers me advice as to not make my mental pain any worse than it is. There have been several instances where I felt my therapist's personal biases (I have worked with two here) have affected their approach to difficulties I was facing, which is never a good thing. If you want a specific example: Unrelated to my BDD but still a distressing change, I've experienced a nearly 80 lb. weight gain during my transition from my late teens to my early 20's, with 55 of those pounds driven by a sudden increase of chronic stress, anxiety, and dysregulated cortisol levels. As you can imagine, it's something that I've had to grapple with and grieve as I navigate a body that feels even more unfamiliar than it previously did. However, I was constantly told that "bodies are meant to change as we transition to true adulthood" or some flavor of that, which was very invalidating and quite frankly, insulting to my intelligence. Projection when treating my BDD also occurred --- and I know that's a buzzword that's susceptible to misusage, but it should be known that this is a very, very complex disorder and not all patients should be treated as if they're poisoned by social media or the beauty industry. It is very important, if possible, that you find a licensed clinical psychologist who has extensive training in ERP and is very familiar with the diagnostic literature. Some of the language that the therapist used in the early stages of me working together with them before I complained of not feeling seen or heard still affects me negatively today, which is probably the opposite of the desired effect of therapy. (I'd imagine that most people would not appreciate being called "illogical"). It seems like the bulk of the reviews are about Mabel (the owner), and I never worked with her personally so I can't speak on that front. The therapists that I have worked with here are good people and they really seem passionate about what they do, but passion can only get you so far when it comes to helping potential clients. I currently am getting my needs met elsewhere, but I just wanted to share my thoughts to help those who might be looking for a new therapist, especially for those who suffer from BDD. I didn't have a solid reference point for what specialized BDD care looked like, but once you experience it, you can't really go back. That being said, there is a chance that you could benefit from working with one of the therapists here, but as a generalized piece of advice I recommend shopping around elsewhere if you are financially able, so that you can find the best provider for YOU.

I found Mabel by chance a couple of years ago when I was not in a great place. I had tried out…read moreseveral therapists, but formed an instant connection with Mabel. She is warm, personable, empathetic, and compassionate. I remember hoping on a consultation call with her to let her know about my situation, filling in a form online about my background (other therapists take at least 1-2 sessions to get this which I feel is a waste of time/ not very efficient), and by the time we had our first session, she already knew a ton about me! Mabel is practical and relatable, and I place a lot of trust in her expertise and guidance. We dont always have breakthroughs every session (nor should you have that expectation for every therapy session), but I always walk away with something to think about, and a renewed sense of calm. She has seen me grow over the years, and Im truly grateful for her help.

I met her in my early 20s when I was in undergrad, suffering from trauma stemming from years of abuse. She wasn't even taking clients at the time, according to her voice messaging system, but she called me back and took me on. From then on, I found the best advocate one could hope for in a therapist. I eventually moved away and we discontinued working together. Then, I was having a rough patch and didn't have insurance, but we worked something out. She worked with me through this difficulty until I transitioned to grad school. We didn't talk for a few years. Fast forward three more years (six total, since I'd last worked with her) I'm back in California and in need of a great therapist. Now I'd seen many therapists during the six year gap since we'd worked together. I saw 5 others upon moving back to California, prior to working with her again. I came back to Dr. Williams after so many years because she's genuinely the best therapist I've ever had. She's supportive, smart as heck, perceptive, nuanced...and just amazing. She supported me through Trauma with EMDR when I was younger (and sometimes now). Now she's supporting me through a mood disorder. I highly recommend her...and I speak highly of her to everyone I meet.
