We discovered Remcon through google reviews and evaluated them with 3 other design build firms. What led us to select Remcon was how Simo presented Remcon and what to expect. Realistic is probably the best way to describe what we heard. We described what we wanted and he shared from the start that he wouldn't BS us, and that he would make recommendations based upon overall vision and budget. During the renovation, he was always on top of the job. We ran into a few bumps where construction didn't go exactly as planned (standard on every job) but once we told Simo, he made sure to connect with the construction folks and they fixed it. Working through a renovation with what felt like unlimited amounts of issues popping up, is and could be an extremely stressful situation. This is why, for obvious reasons, it's critical to work with a company and a project manager, who has both the reputation and experience to work through this journey together. Remcon, and especially our project manager Simo somehow managed to exceed our expectations. There is a lot of moving parts when dealing with a renovation, and what could potentially be the most important factor in finding the right company and PM is to find someone that invests their time and care into the project like it's their own house. Tackling through issues coming up, explaining situations on why more money is needed on a particular job , details plays a huge role for the two sides to understand why a particular solution is needed on a specific problem. There will be bumps along the way. Remcon and Simo were able to not only makes the bumps easier to cross, they educated our own knowledge about a house renovation, and led the charge in making us feel at peace along every step of the way. I'm a repeat Remcon customer. After this experience with them remodeling my bathroom I will not be calling them for any future projects. Communication doesn't seem to be their forte anymore. It took them 3 weeks to get me specs needed for sub flooring for my HOA to approve, after having to repeatedly ask for it. Demo started 10/9 and things moved along well. By the end of week 2 everything was done except plumbing. Which was nice as the contract says to expect 3-5 weeks, although Cara told me verbally to expect them to be done by the end of October. But as they reached the finish line....they started dragging their feet and left me on the back burner. Tuesday week 3, final plumbing was in. I was also told final touch ups would be done that day, they were not, and at that point I already gave them the final check for completion of work. For the rest of the week they came in one day and did paint touch up/paint clean up that got on the tile, it's a small bathroom. After looking over the work I realized both sink faucet handles were loose and the medicine cabinet wasn't properly sealed to the wall, they said it would be handled. Thursday week 4, trash that was sitting in my home for over a week was finally taken out, and that is all that was done that week. Tuesday week 5 I had to reach out and ask about them finishing, again, as nothing had been communicated to me at that point yet. Thursday week 5 they finally tighten the faucets and seal the medicine cabinet. ***So to simplify that between weeks 3, 4, and 5 they were only in my home 5 times despite telling me someone will be there everyday working. I would also caution working with their recommended vendors. Rock tile -if you're buying accent tiles and they order them in for you you have to pay for whatever package size it comes in no matter if you just need one or two 12x12 tiles (mine came with 5). No refunds, so inspect your invoice carefully as this is sent to you after you make your in store choices and after Remcon sends sq ft needed to them. Beautiful tiles though. Very satisfied otherwise. Shower doors--when I had my consult I said I didn't buy the door yet but was working on it. I was told I could either get one or that they "had someone", which made me believe it was internal, so I thought that would be a better option. I found out at the end they were not internal. Discount door and glass is the outside company--which is a joke of a name for the price they quoted. You pay them for the door and install. So if you don't have an endless budget, save yourself some money, avoid the stress and delays and get your own door at the beginning so you're not caught off guard at the end, as that process isn't even started until the very end. I wound up having to hire a handyman for that part since I didn't realize my quote didn't include that labor, as I thought it was an internal job. All in all after all the headaches, the extreme slow down to finish, and what felt like constantly having to follow up with them to find out when things would get done, what check I needed to leave that day, etc.. the bathroom actually looks good and that's one of the few positive things I can say. We recently had reconstruction work carried out in our retail space by RemCon. We needed walls moved and rebuilt and ceilings installed along with a host of miscellaneous side items to have our space enlarged. This involved some flexibility on their part as we discovered additional tasks along the way, all of which were met effortlessly by their team. Let me start by saying that I don't write a lot of reviews but wanted to take the time to recognize the exceptional work of REMCON. This is the first ever renovation that my wife and I invested in so naturally, we were a bit anxious to make sure we didn't make any mistakes in our hard earned investment. We actually have been planning for a renovation for over three years and wanted to make sure we hired the right contractor. You hear, watch, and read about so many renovation horror stories that the entire process can keep you up late at night. We finally decided to go for it and planned to interview and receive bids from several contractors. Our street actually had several home renovations done by REMCON so we decided to interview them first. We found that our neighbors really liked their work and was happy about the finished product and the budget. Our first meeting with REMCON was with Lia Vyas who immediately put us at ease. We described our vision of adding approx. 266 sq ft to the rear of our house plus completely renovating the downstairs living room and kitchen. She was confident and understood our vision and provided great feedback and recommendations. What we really liked was that we never felt that there was a hard sales pitch. We had several more meetings about refining the vision and discussed budgets. Lia was very understandable about budgets and was flexible to change the scope of our project to meet our desired budget. We did have to remove some desired features to stay within budget but in the end, were very happy about what could be accomplished given our budget. Her customer service was appreciated so we selected REMCON to do our home reno. Lia became our Project Manager and from day one, she was on top of everything. REMCON's architect, Patricio Saldivar was amazing. His attention to detail and ability to listen to what our vision was and adapt it to detailed engineering plans was impressive. He understood the city permit process intricately and was able to get our city permits ahead of planned schedule. After the permits were issued, we started demolition and construction and Lia was like a conductor orchestrating a well-oiled symphony of construction teams, electricians, plumbers, dry wall, painters, kitchen cabinet installers, floor installers, backsplash, and clean up crews. Her attention to detail was immaculate. We held weekly meetings to review progress where she explained the accomplished work and planned work. We did not experience any major setbacks, nor did she recommend any change orders that would have increased our budget. Every question that we had, Lia addressed and fixed almost right away. She even helped us select home material products. Overall, the project completed ahead of schedule and on budget. We never felt pressured to pay for change orders. Customer service and attention to detail was what I enjoyed. The contractor-client relationship was based on trust and we couldn't have been happier. All of the sub-contractors that supported REMCON had a great demeanor, and they seemed happy to provide great service to their clients. REMCON has a great customer service-oriented culture. We especially are indebted to Lia Vyas for her leadership and management and how she superbly executed the vision that we had for our remodel. I received a comment back from someone at Remcon that I just noticed, indicating I must have them mixed up with a different company. This is not the case unless we have more than one Remcon in San Diego. They wanted more information but indicated they did not have me in their system so it must be a different company. Sigh.... I have spoken with them numerous times and even had them to our home for estimates. So, here's more info: 1. In 2014 or 2015, a female designer (from another country originally) came out and spent a long time at our home. We felt quite good about the company after her visit, but then we got bad feelings after calling back with another question. We felt they seemed too busy to do the work. We ended up not doing the project since we ended up moving. 2. In 2017, after we moved, we had a phone call from the owner who was cold calling for business. It was a random call but I thought this was because our name was on file from our previous encounter. Since we really liked them before, and they obviously now are hungry for business, we decided to give them another try. It was completely random that the owner had called us and had no idea who we were or that we'd tried to use them previously. We scheduled someone to come out and provide a quote. 3. A large young man came out to provide us a quote and things seemed to be going well and he seemed enthusiastic. So much so, that we also showed him two additional projects in addition to our master bathroom. That man spent over two hours at our home and we never heard back from him. We called to try and find out if he'd lost our contact information and there was no answer each day we tried calling. We thought perhaps they'd gone out of business. We never heard back. We still have their business card! So, should you still think we have mistaken your company with someone else, I assure you we have not. I have even been to your office to look at cabinet samples. While I am not trashing your company, and we twice had very good feelings about selecting your company to do the work, you did not follow through. I cannot vouch for your work but your business practices are questionable. We had the best experience with the contractor we selected and I hope whomever reads this review finds the right contractor for their needs. I assure you, Remcon, we are done trying to beg your company to do our remodeling. We are very pleased with our contractor who communicated well, had skilled workers and who did everything he said he would do for the quoted price. This was not our experience with Remcon as we could not even get a quote even after they spent so much time at two of our homes getting quotes. read more

Thanks to Remcon, I went from an outdated bathroom with an awkward dividing wall, two toilets, two pedestal sinks, and tub shower to a luxurious bathroom. I absolutely love my new bathroom! I went based off of Yelp reviews and after meeting Sibella the following day after calling them, I was confident I was going to be writing a 5 star review. I usually think through purchases a long time, especially with a large one like this. But I immediately trusted Sibella and the company with this project. Professionalism and a sense of how the company operates well were apparent when meeting Sibella, and she didn't put any pressure on me... no sales talk! This is very rare and I really appreciate it. I was told the company makes a great effort to all communicate and be on the same page through emails and texts strings. This was true when working with Lia and Sibella. Lia is the project manager I worked with and was very knowledgeable and responsive. She always never had an attitude when I pointed out details i desired or if something needed to be fixed to how I want it. I'm very meticulous and they definitely came through with quality and attention to detail. If that wasn't the case, I would see the small flaws everytime I go in the bathroom, even if my guests never noticed. They were very fair and kept exactly to their quoted price, as well as their projected timeline. Often companies don't keep to their promises and you are stuck with higher cost or a longer project time. Luckily Remcon will save you from that unexpected frustration. What I learned through this process is if you have particular taste, expect to pay more in material than you think...but it's worth it! If you pay Remcon to remodel your kitchen, which I highly recommend, you want the labor cost to be worth it. You will have a very nice product that will keep it's value longer, contrary to having them install cheaper material well. I definitely will use them for my kitchen down the road. I was looking to remodel a bathroom and was very nervous about the process. I interviewed 4 companies and ended up going with RemCon. I am very happy I chose to go with them for so many reasons. I worked with Sibella and Lia and got both great design ideas, as well as support from them both. They kept their word and finished the project before they estimated, including helping me work with the tile company who ordered the wrong tile 3x. They were patient with me while I made decisions, and were great in telling me when my ideas would cause problems down the road. Every employee was friendly and wonderful to work with. We had Remcon renovate our kitchen, powder room, and master bathroom last summer. I wanted to live with the reno for a bit before writing a review. We had a couple quotes and I feel Remcon was the most thoughtful. They took lots of measurements and put together a thorough quote that was useful for budgeting. Our reno wound up occurring during the height of supply chain issues that was a result of Covid. Cara was our project manager and was great at navigating those disruptions. She helped us source available products and pivoted well when things wound up back ordered. Cara was great at keeping things moving during the supply chain saga so that our project remained timely. The remodel itself was beautiful and we are very happy with the result. If we noticed any punch list items, Remcon quickly sent someone to handle. We had a fireplace chimney demo'd, and an electric fireplace installed inside. It was a small project but it required so many little pieces done; demo, framing, drywall, roof repair, stucco repair, flooring, tile, electrical, paint. Simo was great to work with, on it all the time, always knew where and what was next. The subs who did all the little repairs were all pros, everything was finished perfectly. I contracted Remcon to remodel the 2 1/2 bathrooms in my townhouse, as well as to do some other updates to the upstairs (new linen cabinets, replace carpet, upgrade bedrooms, etc.). It was a pretty large project, and I was able to move out of my house while the work was being completed, which saved some time and money. I was very happy with not only the result of the renovation, but with the process of working with Remcon. Simo was my project manager, and he was fantastic. With all the horror stories you hear about contractors, I feel like I got extremely lucky. From the moment he came out to see the place and give me a quote (by the way, Simo made time on a holiday because that worked with our schedule!), he was a true pleasure to work with. He always worked to get me the best quality at the very lowest price possible. At every stage, he did everything humanly possible to make me happy and help make sure I get the results I want. The contract was very specific and laid out everything that would be done. They do quote the labor separately-- and then whatever materials and finishes you choose are purchased directly from the vendor. I think this makes a BIG difference in helping people save money. Unlike other designers and contractors, they don't take a "cut" or a "markup" on everything you purchase. They get a significant contractor's discount and pass on ALL of that savings. In addition, Simo took me shopping! We went all around town looking for tile, plumbing fixtures, and everything else we needed and he was helpful in choosing things that would look good as well as making sure all the specs would work. At every point, it was clear that Simo was doing whatever he could to help me save money and get what I wanted. But the best part was Simo's responsiveness and communication. We were in constant contact by phone, email, and text, and he came over almost daily to make sure the project was going smoothly and things were being done correctly. He always tried to work around my schedule for meetings and necessary appointments. Tony was the lead working on the project--he was a super nice guy who paid attention to detail and did a great job keeping things moving. All the guys on the crew were great, and that's important when you have people hanging out in your home. Remodeling is stressful, obviously. There were various issues and problems that came up, but Simo was always reassuring and would do whatever it took to resolve everything as necessary. I was able to feel fully confident that everything was being done right and that no one was trying to take advantage of me, and that made a HUGE difference. Plus, Simo is just a super nice guy. We just finished a big remodel, and Remcon made it enjoyable! Like many others, I started teleworking when Covid hit. There's nothing like staring at your walls 10 hours a day to make you get ideas, lol! I decided it was time to remodel my kitchen, maybe move one wall to open up the space (yeah, I watch too much HGTV), then why not do flooring, and my small bathroom as long as we're at it? My house was built in the 60's. We bought it freshly flipped in 2014. We are a few blocks from the beach, but the house was dark colors-reddish flooring, dark cabinets, granite countertops. I wanted beachy, sandy colors and design. I started looking for help managing this project. I tried interior decorators (too busy, and no contractors to do the work), then design companies. I had three bids, but after speaking with Simo Pinto, project manager from Remcon Design Build, a decision was made. Simo explained things about flooring, limitations to the bathroom design, and what my costs would be. The bid was significantly lower than the others, probably because he didn't promise me things that would cost excessive amounts. I would much rather be told no rather than yes if it will cost significantly more. I'm a bit of a cheapskate We committed, and the work began. Simo outlined what would happen, contractor by contractor, on a calendar. I knew my payment schedule. We went to cabinet stores and countertop manufacturers to find what we liked, and what was cost effective. I shopped nonstop for finishes, flooring, and paint. I sent pics to Simo as I found things so he could approve or redirect me. Each contractor who came to my house was professional, neat and talented. When I complimented Simo on his employees, he just said to wait, there were even more great people to come - and he was right. I'd say choosing floors was the hardest part, but paint came in a close second. Every decision seems sooo important, when you consider the cost, lifespan, and how it will look with all the other new things. Simo was supportive throughout, providing guidance, calmness, a sense of humor, and reassurance. One day he even brought his dog over to play with mine! The project took the designated time, and while Thanksgiving had to be cooked in the grill (hey, it's Southern California!) Christmas and New Years was spent in my like new, beautiful home. I usually don't write reviews but for this experience I just had to. I had an appointment for get an estimate to remodel my house. I've never done this before and when I spoke to Jasmine on the phone and told her what I looking for and explained that I am just starting this process she understood and told me that they would be able to someone out to give an estimate. I wanted to do kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, and possible additional rooms/backyard remodel (if the additional rooms weren't possible). The person who came yesterday was very unpleasant to deal with. When he came I greeted him and I showed him around the house mainly with the places that I was looking to do the remodeling, except for one of the bathrooms. His remark the whole time as I was walking around my house was "Hmm, this is interesting". When I brought him to the backyard to show him for the possibility to build any additional rooms his response was I'm not sure. I asked what about a backyard remodel and he just said "Yeah, we do that. We do everything." I ask then if we do a backyard remodel than what would the estimate be. He was like I can't tell you. I asked him well then what about the kitchen, bathroom and flooring with an estimate as to what our square footage was and he was like I can't tell you. I told him that I understand that prices change depending on what type of material you use, appliances, so on and so forth and he still shot me down and said that he could give an estimate. He was like well I'm not sure what you're trying to do and I explained to him that I would basically like to gut out the old bathrooms and kitchen and basically build it as new and it some possible walls would be able to be taken down to make the kitchen more open. I told him I understand that some walls might not be able to because it is the foundation that is holding up the house. He still shot me down and didn't give me an answer. He told me that I should have already asked for a loan or looked into refinancing before I reached out to his company because he couldn't get him an estimate if I didn't have a budget. But when I was on the phone with Jasmine I explained that we were just planning on doing a remodeling and we just looking at different places/companies to see what the estimate would be. Why would I get a loan out for something that I am still looking and getting estimates to see what work could possibly be done on my home in the first place. He was barely there for 20 minutes, the whole time his phone kept ringing, he didn't have the courtesy of putting his phone on vibrate. The whole experience was a turn off. I thought that I would be able to get an estimate and insight to even see what would be possible for my home. read more

Very pleased with the final product by Remcon. Within hours of calling for a quote, Simo was at my house writing up a bid for enclosing a home office. The project was relatively simple: enclosing a corner of a large living area into an office space by means of installing some framing, sound-proofing insulation, drywall, installing French doors, some electrical and of course texture and paint. Two weeks later, the project was done-- on time and in a craftsman-like manner. Happy to finally have found a company that does good work, hires skilled workers, and gets the job done right without needing to be baby-sat. We would recommend Remcon to our clients. read more

Getting 2 stars because the project manager was responsive via texts and able to provide a quote based on photos I sent over without an an in person consultation. It took 2 weeks for me to finally receive a quote. The quote was unrealistic and unreliable. I was told it will cost $20k for a 7ft long single panel wrought iron / tampered glass railing for our house. I understand that the post COVID pricing for home improvement has gone up and there is also a longer lead time. However having contacted other contractor, we were told this quote is inaccurate and does not reflect industry pricing. So my guess is that either they are making up prices or they are not charging an actual pass through cost, or they are not working with the right vendors to source materials. Either way, will not recommend them for home renovation. There are many quality contractors in San Diego and they are just not competitive pricing wise. read more

Remcon remodeled my master shower & tub, it looks great! The rest of the house stayed relatively clean during the process. Project duration: Jun 5 - Jul 10. However, my husband & I felt we didn't receive an excellent level of service, maybe b/c our project was small in scale. I attached photos, for reference. On our hard copy contract, I would've preferred a list w/ detailed costs for labor & material, instead of a project total. I've asked for this from vendors before. This is the first time such costs were provided via email string. Initial payment responsibilities between Remcon & ourselves were unclear. Separation of function within the team seemed unclear. Communication was also a challenge in the beginning. We worked w/ 5 people, by text msg & email. Initially, it was hard for us to track who was aware of what information, what was current. We were given prices on items from 3 of the 5 people. I would've preferred only 1-2 POCs for the project, maximum. We could've saved time/money, if our ideas were reviewed by a designer before construction. We were told for a project this size, we would design it ourselves. The team was receptive to concerns and the end product is what we hoped for, but overall the process was still more stressful than expected. Of the projects completed on our home, this was difficult to endure. I'm glad that it's finished. read more

So I Chose Remcon design build, to give me that Open floor concept in my home and boy did they do a great job! I got to say, with Sibella telling me they do quality work and use good material and she gave me the quality cabinets and flooring and work that I wanted. Also Remcon's team, Lia very intelligent when it came to problem-solving my electrical upgrade and my pre-existing floor damage, Jose very hard work when it was demo and clean up time. We hired Remcon to complete a fairly involved remodel of our not-so-uptaded 1960s house. They did a 200SF addition connecting our house to our garage, put in a new kitchen, new powder room, remodeled two bathrooms, removed two load bearing walls, moved other walls around, installed Panoramic doors, new flooring, paint, etc. Ronen and Roy were great to work with. Because of the complexity of the project, there were definitely some bumps along the way but they were able to give us good options and solutions to the problems that arose. The best part was that the project length was way under estimate so we were able to move back into our home much sooner. Our contract said 5-6 month sand they finished in less than four! We would definitely recommend Remcon. read more

After interviewing several other contractors for a small (but important) room renovation, Remcon came through for us. They transformed a small office/wine closet into a comfortable guest room with built in desk. They offered clear communication, followed the agreed upon schedule, cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. Would recommend them without hesitation. read more

I love this company. Such good people. Simo and his helper came to my house and helped me figure out if I had load bearing walls and didn't even charge me. He had great design ideas for me on what to do as far as remodeling my kitchen. He's super professional and he does everything by the book to code. His work is amazing. Long over due review. We bought our house last year and we knew we wanted to remodel to make it our style. Sibella came on time, gave us couple of ideas of what we can do and she took a list of all the things we wanted to do. After some back and forth we got the proposal. We didn't want to be managing contractor day to day and given how professional Sibella was and reviews others have posted , we went with them. As for pricing, I would say they are on the high end of the spectrum but it comes with benefits I would talk about later. As the project started, there was a hand off between Sibella and Lia (our project manager). She is very chill which is really useful in this kind of job where there is so much stress :) Both communication and punctuality with Lia was amazing, I usually texted her if I had questions and she would respond within few hours. We also change our mind of couple of things thought the process , again they were very professional , they wrote a change order saying what needs to change and we again signed and moved forward. Our project wav fairly large, there were few items here and there that was lost but then as soon as I brought it up, Lia get on it and got it done. All the crew really great, very professional ,come on time, do the job and clean after themselves. After we paid in full, we found issues here and there, I would text Lia and she would send someone to fix the work, this is the part that one is paying premium for, knowing that Remcon would come back to fix their work if there was an issue. Things that can be improved: - a bit more coordination between Sibella and Lia to make sure all details are captured (and we had a lot of them) - Lia had a lot of good ideas but she doesn't want to persuade you one way or the other when you ask her a question. I would say given her experience, I would actually appreciate it if she tells me what not to do or what not to care about , that way the project go faster Would definitely recommend and hopefully use next time if I am in for another major remodel :) read more

We used Remcon to design and build our California room and are absolutely THRILLED with the results. Ronen offered creative suggestions when we were uncertain with what we wanted. Roy constantly checked in to ensure accuracy and quality during all phases of the construction. Luis did superb craftsmanship with multiple phases of the build. We changed a few things along the way and Remcon was able to adjust their plans and give suggestions to make it look just right. We would absolutely use them again for the next remodel! read more
