Problem: Water was leaking from my air handling box primary line in my attic which caused some…read moreceiling damage. Action: Being a member of Service Champions I called them out to clear the clogs in the line which is part of the service I pay for monthly. Senior Tech Jason Gomez / Tech Donavon Saario both came out. Job they conducted: 1) Clear the line which was the p-trap under the sink. ($150 they charged, though was included) 2) During their inspection they noticed my air handling box primary and secondary lines were installed backwards, needed a swap. ($150) 3) Install a safe-T switch (water overflow switch) in line with my secondary line ($399) Issues: Overcharged / Lack of integrity & loss of my trust 1) Overcharged - The safe-T switch is a $40 switch that took about 15 minutes to install, the PVC pipe to swap over the lines another 15-20 minutes but about 2ft of total pipe *picture (Attic work) and cleaning the p-trap under the sink *picture, wouldn't that be part of clearing any lines? Materials, I say would cost total of $100 being VERY conservative. So they charged me $600 for about 1 hour of work plus parts. REDICULOUS! 2) Lack of integrity and loss my trust - After they cleaned my condenser (part of the service) we went to go over the work they will conduct. The senior tech joined the other tech and was trying to advise me, then being the experts that I had a refrigerant leak. They wanted to do this inspection that cost $699 same as the cost of what they told me it would cost for the above work, "they didn't want to nickel and dime me" and if I don't fix the leak, the coils can freeze over and a big block of ice can form and destroy my ceiling with water damage! They mentioned they didn't see any residue leaks from the condenser and it would most likely be in the attic at the coil. COST: $4,000 (if current equip is warranty) / $7,000 (if not) I told the tech after the senior tech left that I will just get the above work done, possibly call them out later. I had been a lead aircraft mechanic several years, so I did my quick research from the numbers they got and looking into the MFG manual for my system. System: Lennox ML14XC1-060-230A04 Fieldpiece Measurements (see picture) showed all my readings were on point, 78degree weather at the time if you guys are less technical and want to plug this into google AI. Basically though refrigerant was perfect to the temp we had, TXV was feeding my indoor coil efficiently without flooding liquid refrigerant back to the compressor. Delta T was 71 and 50 which 21 degrees difference is exceptional! They were trying to get me into a $7,000 dollar deal, note they get paid also on jobs (commision). We called and were a bit irritated we had to deal with a chat bot but it understood everything we said and made a same day appointment. We were very happy until 30 minutes before our appointment we got a call saying they had to cancel. Future calls a human answered so the bot is probably just a backup. Danny arrived the next day at 8:30 am. He was very pleasant to work with and was great at communicating the solution to our problems. First was our clogged bathtub. Our other plumber always had to go on the roof but Danny was able to snake the issue from the drain no problem. Cost to snake was honestly pretty shocking compared to my usual plumber and it would have been double from the roof. My usual place doesn't charge extra if they get on the roof. I did appreciate all pricing was up front and clearly explained. Next was my other bathroom's shower. The 63 year old valve has been failing more and more with cartridges being replaced in shorter intervals. Danny mentioned he can retrofit our two handle valve into a new single handle. In no way did he pressure us, just gave the choice due to my existing failing more often. It made sense so I agreed. It was a tedious all day job that he was probably regretting suggesting. He was at our house for 9 hours but got the job done. I am glad I replaced vs fixing the existing valve. It looks great and love the single handle. If we ever remodel we can replace the larger plate with a smaller one which was nice to know. Reason I am not giving 5 stars besides canceling our first appointment is the fit and finish. Our new expensive install was covered in dirty fingerprints. We had to scrub the newly installed handle and plate. The shower head pipe coming out of the wall is crooked now which it wasn't before and the caulking had gaps so I had to recaulk myself. Actually my wife recaulked it. I have zero real world skills. He didn't cover our bathroom in plastic before sawing the wall so every inch is covered in white powder. He tried cleaning up a bit with a shop vac but was ready to get home. I know it was late but for the amount of money I paid it should have been a cleaner job. In the end I am pleased with Graham plumbing and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend their services. Danny had a great personality and I would probably request him again.
