The store is clean and well organized. Reliable Parts fills a needed niche market in Tacoma-- they're the only place in town (as far as I know) that stocks all the little bits and pieces that make our household appliances go. When the door switch on my clothes dryer broke, making the unit inoperable, I tried to find a replacement at Home Depot first since they're nearby and are open late. Turns out the hardware mega-chain does not stock appliance parts such as the one that had failed on my dryer, but one of their associates recommended that I try Reliable Parts on G St. Sure enough, they had just what I needed! Unfortunately, there are a couple of major drawbacks to shopping here: For one thing, this store keeps bankers' hours (08:00-17:00 M-F, 09:00-13:00 Sat, closed Sun) making a trip here during business hours inconvenient for most. Also, I thought that the price of the part seemed pretty steep for what it was, so I looked it up online when I got home-- looks like the store's markup was about 4 times what the same part was going for at several internet retailers. If you're in need of a replacement part RIGHT NOW (and 'right now' happens to be during regular business hours) Reliable is the place to go; otherwise it's probably going to be worthwhile to find what you need online and wait a few days for delivery. read more

After going to Lowe's, Home Depot, and Sears, the manager at Sears was nice to let us know that not only would this place have what I was looking for, but they could even order these if they were out of stock. I am so over this UN Reliable Parts store and people. 3 phone calls from their various numbers and each one on hold for over 23 minutes each, that's an hour total. On top of that, I brought back a returnable part over 2 weeks ago and still no refund. Absolutely ridiculous for the lack of customer service. If there were zero stars I would give that rating. I just experienced the most rude, abrupt, ignorant, lazy, least helpful customer service EVER! I came with pictures of the inside and outside of a dishwasher as well as a stovetop. All I needed was new knobs and a new silverware rack. They said my pictures did not provide model numbers and they could not help me. I asked if we could possibly Google the information we have & come up with model #s. They were unwilling so I stepped aside and came up with the model #s. They then were exasperated to look up a total of four model numbers. The male clerk sarcastically said "maybe you could go to her house and look". She responded, "it's getting there". I was inside their store for a total of 15 minutes and ended up purchasing a silverware rack - only because I live far away & really needed it. They do not deserve my business and really do not deserve their jobs. I said nothing and kept being pleasant but I fully intend to report this. read more

The lady who answered was a absolute BITCH when i asked for help finding the part number. she wanted the part number, well that's why i'm calling. Never knew this place existed but I'm glad I found it. Needed a lid lock for my washer, wife has a day care so yeah it gets used daily. I've been here twice in the last years for parts and really appreciate their friendliness and professionalism. I've even had them agree that I should shop elsewhere for a couple parts they carried that were that were priced much, much higher than I could find them online. That kind of honesty keeps me coming back whenever I can. I think it's also important to support local businesses. A couple notes: 1. If you're active duty or a veteran, show them your ID. You won't be disappointed in the discount. I know I haven't. 2. Shop around online because since they're an "authorized dealer" for some makes, they have to charge a higher price.
