We used reliable to install a fan and they installed it on an already existing dimmer switch. Fans cannot be installed on dinner switches. When they left and we turned it on higher, it burnt out. We have called them and they have refused to do anything to correct their mistake. Now we are out the 300$ and have to buy a new fan. I wouldn't recommend this company at all. Real electricians would have known that and never installed it without changing the switch first. read more

On May 5, 2023 a Rep from Reliable came to my home to see if I could put in a Generator and was told yes when he measured my driveway. On May 17 is gave Reliable a deposit of $5,209 and was told I would have it installed by July/August. After numerous calls they finally sent the corrected paperwork to my HOA for approval of the installation. They then sent someone to remeasure my driveway to make certain that the tank cleared all PBC codes and I was told that I DID NOT have enough room on my driveway to bury a 250 gallon tank. That was in June. The original Rep came back a few weeks later and said that we would see if this could be done another way by putting in two 110 gal above the ground tanks on the side of my home. I was called and told that new permits were being applied for so this could be done and I told them that I spoke with my HOA and even though PBC allowed above the ground tanks my HOA did not. She told me that they would allow it since it was an emergency. That was in August. I called Reliable five times and was told that a manager would bet back to me and never received a return call. They still are sitting on my $5,209 and if it is not returned to me within the next two weeks I will proceed with legal actions to get my money back. So much for being Reliable. We had a quick connect breaker lockout system installed yesterday by Reliable. The two guys that did the install could not have been nicer or more efficient. During the course of the work, they had to relocate one circuit to our inside panel to make everything work and that was done quickly. At the conclusion of the work, we hooked up our generator to test things and it was flawless. They supplied us with a brief video showing all steps that need to be executed the next time a big storm rolls through here. Also, additional thanks go to Amy in the office, she kept us up to date on the ordering of parts and scheduling. We could not be happier, great outcome. read more

Rob Smythe salesperson visited my home for a whole house standby generator quote. Provided a verbal quote. He said he would send the quote and contract by email and never did. I followed up by text twice and the first time he said he would sent it. Never did and I have checked my spam folder. He lost a 20k sale due to no quote and RES was my first choice prior to this poor service. Order placed elsewhere. Don't use Rob Smythe for your quote. "Reliable" is a term they misuse. After waiting 2 months for an inspection of our home, we never hear from them again. The last conversation was "I will email you a quote in the next two days". Two weeks pass and I call the office leaving my name with the owner, Robert Biscardi or his G.M. John, no response. One week after that, I called and left a voice mail during regualr business hours. I set up an appointment for the same day I called and was told someone would be out between 12 and 4, No show, Then I get an email with an apology and they say I'll be first on their schedule the next morning - never showed. Extremely overpriced, prompt and polite but very expensive, all the parts were 5 to 10 times what they would be at the Hardware store or online. Labor was done quickly and professionally but again extremely expensive. They were instructed TWICE that some of the lights were 25 feet above the floor and needed replaced. My wife was assured their trucks were fully equipped and would be able to fix the light. When the technician arrived he said it was not his truck and that they would have come back he did not the necessary equipment. read more

When I called to get a ballpark estimate for replacing my electrical panel, the representative wanted too much contact information upfront. That made me uneasy - as that "smells" like a marketing/sales ploy. Then he started in on information suggesting a rep would have to come out to my home to provide an estimate. I can tell you from decades of life experience that is the sign of a company I don't want to do business with -- it is the hallmark of pushy sales techniques and overselling you, if not outright lying. I told him other companies (BBB A+ rated companies) I've talked with provided estimates over the phone, and I was terminating the call. Bye bye. RIPOFF What an idiot I am - as I forgot I used them once before - when they tried to scam me by telling me my spotlight outside needed replacement when they didn't (see prior review). However, this week, I got an estimate that was $1,000 - 5 times what others. Their competitor completed the work within one hour for $150. No wonder they charge $89 for sending a repair man out. The appointment process was excellent, they contacted me when they said the would and even better arrived exactly when they said they would. Kevin S. was prompt and courteous and seemed knowledgeable. Problem is the price they wanted for simple electrical work was crazy. I had another independent (aka - one man operation) who for $350 did all the work they wanted more than $1,000 for. It took him about 2 1/2 hours. Granted he didn't try to sell me the LED light fixture that Reliable did but I didn't want one to begin with. Seems to be a good operation they are just really pricey. read more

THE WORST!!! Despite having an issue that required fairly quick resolution, I scheduled a Saturday appointment a week in advance as my work schedule could not accommodate earlier. I agreed to pay a higher charge for the Saturday appointment. Friday at 5 pm, I was contacted to advise that they had no electrician that could come on Saturday. They could care less the inconvenience caused to me and offered nothing as an alternative. I advised that it was their responsibility to ensure they had someone to fulfill the scheduled appointment and I was told they could not make someone work beyond their 40 hours. REALLY??!! read more

I'm glad I checked around. No offense Reliable, I'm sure you do great work. I was checking around looking for a quote for some electrical work to be done in my home. I spoke to someone who said that they could come, and check what needed to be done. They initially charge $89, but that is also put towards the work. If you don't use them, you lose your $89. Sorry, but to pay almost $90 for work you don't know if they're going to do or not, did not appeal to me. I did however find someone to do the work, and did charge me $50 for a quote, which was considerably less than what your company did. So I opted to go with them. read more

Very disappointed. Paid over $1500 to change kitchen high hats to LED , change batteries in existing smoke alarms and fix one exterior flood fixture. Flood fixture Never fixed. Smoke alarms still chirping and they only changed 4 of the 6 high hats. A complete ripoff ! read more

Everything about this company is professional & knowledgable. I highly recommend Reliable. I had a problem that had been occurring for the last 2 weeks. I thought it was fixed yesterday but it happened again. It caused me to be without cable and internet for 3 days and my garage power to be off ruining everything in the garage fridge. It was on today but suddenly went out at 3:30 pm. I called 2 other companies both said they couldn't send out anybody until tomorrow. The first one said there was an 89$ service fee & 150$ after 5pm then the cost of the repair. I was calling what I thought was another company but it turned out to be Reliable Electric Services. And I'm glad it was. At first I was nervous because there were a couple of negative reviews on here. But the rep who answered the call was way more thorough in the information regarding their company & services. Very clear and fair. He said there would be a 89$ service charge that would apply to the repairs if I chose to go through with the recommend service options and their truck is fully equipped with parts.When I called the company I originally wanted to call they had to call me back and no info about how they work. The owner called me back saying he couldn't make it until tomorrow, when I explained that reliable was sending someone within 35 minutes and I was nervous because of bad reviews, he told me not to trust the reviews and when I told him about the call he said that they sound really up front and $89 for the service call that applies to service was a great deal. Well he was right! Rick, my technician showed up as expected, immediately introduced himself & reiterated the company's policies. He found my problems quickly. Told me that they were easily fixable. I have very mixed emotions about this company. The service people who came out seemed professional and knowledgeable. But, the follow-up was not as satisfying. Originally I was going to install a whole home generator, but when that proved to be too involved due to code constraints, I decided on upgrading my electrical service to accommodate a portable generator. Reliable Services made the plans and did the work. When the city came out, there was additional work that needed to be done in order to put the service to code. This was going to be another $3,000. OUCH!!! I would've expected the professionals, Reliable Services, to know what the codes were, and had I known the expense up-front, I may have reconsidered the job. So, I let the permit sit open (unfinished). While Reliable offered to do the job for $2400.00, I later found a licensed electrician who was able to bring the job up to code for a fraction of the cost- $600.00; and it passed inspection (although there was a minor issue with the work Reliable did which they were unresponsive to). So along story with a happy outcome with little thanks to "UnReliable" Services. read more

I called to get a rough estimate on adding an additional circuit to my home. I have been quoted 150-250 in the past by other electricians but I had waited to do the work. The lady answering the phone wouldn't give me an idea of the pricing as she didn't want to "under-quote" the job. She informed me that there was an $89 service fee that would be collected just to examine the proposed project. If I decided to proceed with Reliable the $89 would be applied towards the total cost of the job. Having priced the job out before(with another electrician) I thought "I would charge for a house call too, just to make sure I wasn't giving free advice from my techs" and scheduled an appointment. The tech that showed up was on time and extremely professional. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and explained my options very clearly. He then returned with the quote... $650 to do a job that I had been quoted at 250 by a previous electrician. Luckily I found my old electrician and have contracted him for the job at $250. What a waste of $89!! I feel like I was duped into paying this fee by the shifty responses of the phone personnel. Too bad, I'll take my money (the rest of it) elsewhere! read more
