I stopped by for a quote, and from the start, J.T. was very transparent with us and told us that pricing would depend on how perfect we wanted the damage to look after the fix. He gave us a very fair price for an intermediate fix, which we decided to go with. Later on, we got a phone call that the fix was quicker than they thought, and they were knocking the price down even further. It's hard to come by this kind of honesty. They sold me a diagnostic check costing $209. After that was done, I was informed that it needed to go to stage 2, costing an untold amount, and it was unclear. They told me I would need to leave the car overnight, when over the phone Ty had made it sound like what I needed would take a few hours at most. The saving grace was the mechanic who told me, moments before I took their custom-wrapped shuttle vehicle to my apartment, who shot straight and told me it would cost more than the car to have what they intended to do for stage 2 diagnostics. I was not made aware of the potential costs before being ushered to the shuttle to my apartment. I only found out because I had to retrieve things from my car and spoke with the man doing the actual work. I verbally chewed out Brown, and to his credit, he accepted the ire with a calm manner and spoke kindly, which I really respect, but to be fair, he never made it clear what the stage 2 diagnostics comprised of and what the projected cost would be, allowing me to assume things were still heading in a clear direction. The reality was that the mechanic had never done this sort of computer work before and would need to build a custom reader. I did not find out until I spoke with the mechanic about what was actually happening. What made this so frustrating was that I told Brown I was down to my last dollar and borrowing money. I do not feel as if the best effort was made toward transparency of cost when it really mattered. I'm used to speaking with an honest, hardworking mechanic.

After unsuccessful visit to Hyndai Plaza (they wouldn't work on me until mid/late Dec) I scanned the Internet, looked for car shops near me, and called Brandywine Auto Repair. After explaining my situation to Mr.Alex he invited told me he would check my car within a day even though he was busy and had other customers. Unlike the dealership, he diagnosed the issue immediately which was a beginning of the engine failure. He correctly pointed that it was something that was covered under my 100,000miles / 10yrs warranty and recommended that I try go to Hyndai dealership again. I found another Hyndai dealership, different from the first one, a but further out the area. Got the car towed there and Mr.Alex was right. The issue was a known factory defect and I got my engine replaced by Hyndai, under the warranty. Mr. Alex helped me and was there, professionally and humanly when I was in a very bad spot. Far from home with a broken car. He was very professional, and if I didn't, by accident found him I do not know what would happened. Mr Alex did not want to charge ma a single dollar for his help, advice and time. All he asked me was to give him a call once the things are sorted out to hear how it went. I lived in the EU and USA, visited many many car shops in my life, but I have never, ever experienced such a level of professionalism, service and honesty as with Brandywine Auto Repair. Proceeded to charge me $1,300 to replace the rear main seal on my car which began leaking the same day he replaced it! (Picture shows leaking oil the day he gave it back). I took my car to the official Volkswagen dealership and they told me that West Chester Transmissions did a terrible job performing the service and caused my vehicle to leak oil from a variety of other seals and fittings. West Chester Transmissions told me they wouldn't give me my money back after ruining my vehicle. I now have to bring a civil suit against this business because they ruined my car. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE! THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR PROPERTY!
