I first heard of Tommy's when my father purchased a Hurricane Sandy flood car (2009 Mercedes…read moreML350). It did not run when purchased as all the complex computer systems had been fried. The whole car essentially needed to be rewired and all the computers had to be replaced. Tommy's was not only able to source the correct parts, but within two weeks had the entire car rewired (which is no small task). They were even able to repair the automated rear liftgate with no trouble. This type of work demands a tech who is patient, organized, well trained, clean, and determined. Judging by the excellent state of the vehicle today I wouldn't hesitate to assume that this shop has all those qualities in spades. Their pricing on this was very fair and under what I expected it would cost. On sunday my 2001 Saab 9-3's motor failed on the highway. I am good shade tree mechanic but have no formal training so I needed a shop familiar with higher end imports to give me a final diagnosis on what had failed. I had it towed there sunday evening and they called me by lunch the next day. I had asked them to perform the diagnosis expecting to pay their fee. It turns out they didn't even need to go into the motor and were able to figure out it was a total loss quickly. Instead of what most shops in the area do (charge you for just looking at the vehicle and outright ripping off customers) they were honest and did not charge me a dime! This is the true test of one's character, to be honest when they could have profited from a lie, and has solidified my belief that this garage is one of the rare good ones in this county. I stopped by for a quote, and from the start, J.T. was very transparent with us and told us that pricing would depend on how perfect we wanted the damage to look after the fix. He gave us a very fair price for an intermediate fix, which we decided to go with. Later on, we got a phone call that the fix was quicker than they thought, and they were knocking the price down even further. It's hard to come by this kind of honesty. After unsuccessful visit to Hyndai Plaza (they wouldn't work on me until mid/late Dec) I scanned the Internet, looked for car shops near me, and called Brandywine Auto Repair. After explaining my situation to Mr.Alex he invited told me he would check my car within a day even though he was busy and had other customers. Unlike the dealership, he diagnosed the issue immediately which was a beginning of the engine failure. He correctly pointed that it was something that was covered under my 100,000miles / 10yrs warranty and recommended that I try go to Hyndai dealership again. I found another Hyndai dealership, different from the first one, a but further out the area. Got the car towed there and Mr.Alex was right. The issue was a known factory defect and I got my engine replaced by Hyndai, under the warranty. Mr. Alex helped me and was there, professionally and humanly when I was in a very bad spot. Far from home with a broken car. He was very professional, and if I didn't, by accident found him I do not know what would happened. Mr Alex did not want to charge ma a single dollar for his help, advice and time. All he asked me was to give him a call once the things are sorted out to hear how it went. I lived in the EU and USA, visited many many car shops in my life, but I have never, ever experienced such a level of professionalism, service and honesty as with Brandywine Auto Repair.
