This store used to be lovely. But now it's under new management. I purchased a very high-end recliner from them and it is malfunctioning. Every time I call, they say that they will address it and call me back and get the Repair engaged, but they never do and so I have to call them over and over and over again! I will absolutely not purchase anything from these people any longer! I don't respect or appreciate them wasting my time and not supporting their product! I'm gonna report them to The Better Business Bureau and to the manufacturer who supplied this product. Because they are misrepresenting how they will support the product. I'm also planning to work with my credit card to get my money back because they are not actually meeting the purchase agreement for this product. two years ago I purchased my zero gravity chair. I loved it. My comments were so positive that three of my friends purchased the same high end chair. I had the warranty. I went into the store to arrange repair. The lumbar support wasn't working. I waited for my appointment. They never showed up. I went back to the store and rescheduled. The technician showed up and said he couldn't fix it. The manager came out and said he would get something done for me. He later contacted me and said that Relax the Back was not going to repair it. Working with this store started out fantastic we thought. Our salesperson seemed thorough and helpful. That is where the good experience ended. The order was put in back in late October. After not hearing anything or no contact for several weeks my husband went into the store the week before christmas and he was told that the chair would be in the day after christmas. Then again after not hearing anything we had a friend go in jan 25th as we are out of town, only to find out that they needed some form filled out for embroidering font. They have had over 5k of our money all this time and can't even pick up the phone to follow up with any issues that come up. And at one time they even said the chair was in, which it was not, so a wasted trip. And they said they sent emails which were never received yet they sent us emails about "how was our service". At this point I would never want to entrust this kind of money to a business that appears to tell lies or is just so incompetent S to not know what is actually going on with their orders. I would not recommend these guys as we still don't k ow if we are getting our chair anytime soon and they have made no efforts to make things right on a professional customer service level. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a very friendly employee (over the course of our conversation I discovered she was the ergonomic specialist). I explained my current situation and she presented a litany of potential solutions. That level of customer service is above and beyond, regardless of the business. I'm beyond thrilled with my new chair, and my back feels spectacular. Is Relax the Back expensive? Yes, without question. I purchased a fancy ergo chair that I designed myself. The service was great for most of the experience. They do not have many of the material choices in their store for some reason. So took a gamble that my selection would look as it does in the sample book. For a chair that costs over $2000 I would expect great service. When I called to see if the chair had arrived. Some rude man answered, and said something about "another pain want to know if their order arrived" and hung up on me!! When I picked up the chair, the first salesperson, a young Black woman had no clue how to adjust the chair, when another older gentleman offered to help, she walks off and doesn't even bother to stick around to learn. About a year ago I bought a PureContour Dual Pillow by Relax the Back at their Bellevue location. I spent a good amount of time with the sales person to find just the right pillow. I have some neck issues and needed something with good cervical support. This pillow fit the bill. The sales person was very helpful and said if anything goes wrong with this pillow bring it back and we will take care of you. It worked very well for about a year and then began to break down and no longer provide the support I needed. My neck began to ache again to the point of needing to do something. Since It cost $129.00 plus tax and was supposed to last for 3 to 4 years, I decided to go back to the store to ask for a replacement under the warranty. I believe the person's name is Chelsea and she was very unhelpful. She discredited everything I said and then just looked at my pillow and said "there's nothing wrong with this" we cannot honor the warranty. Since they don't seem to stand by their word or their warranty, I will never buy another pillow or anything from them again. Overall: A pretty dire shopping experience... We wanted to try the Lafuma outdoor recliner, so we visited Relax the Back. On getting into the store, there was a Lafuma staring right as us amongst other recliners, massage chairs, Tempur-pedic beds/mattresses, office chairs and desks. J decided to try the Lafuma straight away. Before his ass touched the seat, a salesperson, Jake rushed over. He was quite helpful, albeit a tad irritating. We also tried the Human Touch zero-gravity chairs. Jake was still hanging around giving us the spiel about the chairs. He hovered awkwardly as we tested the chairs. Jake then tells us that we'd just missed a promotion where they gave away a free Lafuma chair for every leather recliner that they sold, but he could extend the promotion for us if we'd like! (1 star!) We asked for a quote, went on our happy way and decided to come back the following day to place our order. We arrived around 3:00 pm and didn't leave until 3:50 pm - there was some error/system problem in the ordering/payment process. It was getting very tiresome. There were two people in the store and neither of them seemed to know what they were doing! The expected time of arrival of the chairs was between July 16-20th. On July 20th, we didn't hear anything, so we called them. The chairs HAD arrived, but they will be calling us WITHIN TWO days to arrange a delivery. Why they couldn't have arranged it when we called, I have no idea! We waited and waited and Wednesday 22nd we finally got a call saying they could deliver on Thursday 23rd during a 2 hour window. They arrived 15 minutes into their 2 hour window and they took around 30 minutes to set up. However, they forgot the outdoor recliners! They offered to make another delivery the following day... Although we got two free Lafuma outdoor recliners and free delivery thrown in, I would not recommend this place for a good buying experience. It was just a place that we could try out and buy the human touch zero-gravity chairs (which, by the way, are awesome). If I trusted online stores for these kinds of purchases, I would buy it online and it would have saved us the hassle of dealing with this store! As I entered the store I thought it was interesting and probably would have taken a deeper look if the saleperson who was a woman didnt treat me like a piece of meat. The employees were too "relaxed" to help. I went in a couple weeks ago for a back massage tool and the two employees were reclining in chairs. That's cool, it is a relaxation store after all. But they were both reluctant to get off their rear ends and actually do their jobs. Then the lady told me she liked an alternate product better but she had NO salesmanship. They didn't have the color I wanted (no biggie) I decided to go with the second version anyway (no thanks to the saleswoman). **This is the kicker** when I was ready to make my purchase the lady said, "I'll put that back for you." and halfway leaned forward to take the unwanted massager from me... ... After a moment I realized she wasn't actually going to get up and take it from me, so I walked over to her to give it to her. It was about the same distance as walking to the shelf and putting it back myself, but I have the feeling she wanted to use it while she was "hard at work." What a crack up. read more

I bought a Tempurpedic Neck Pillow here in May 2012 with the help of a saleswoman. After a month-and-a-half of use, I began experiencing neck pain that spread to tingling in my fingers. After online research, I realized I should have been sold the SMALL pillow. Instead the woman sold me the queen medium based on the size of my BED! There was never any discussion about my height, weight, etc., just what kind of bed I had. Expensive products demand informed expertise. I am retired with back issues and purchased a chair for over $3,000. Unfortunately, it only lasted about two years because of inferior quality foam. It broke down with body weight. Per the manager of the store, it appears that the company no longer uses this foam and seems to have known it was defective. They now are using a memory foam material to solve the issue. She continued to say that there was a disconnect in our conversation to avoid a solution. The disconnect was her customer service. She said that I would have to pay an additional $300 from them to get new foam. In my opinion, $3,000 chairs should last more than two years. I said there was not a mark on it--if the delivery people came and saw one single sign of wear I'd pay for their time and keep the chair. So I bought a chair approximately six years ago for $1300. I travel 50% of the time so the office chair has light use. The arms are splitting.so I called the store to find out how to invoke the lifetime warranty to repair the arms. Guess what, the warranty is only for the chair not the arms...but wait didn't I buy the chair with arms???? The arms only have a 2 year warranty and cost $80/arm to replace. Reading some of the negative reviews listed below, they are clearly referring to the old management. They only sell high end items. I learned from my own experience as a customer that while the prices on some of the items in the store may seem high at first, given their quality and reliability, they are a good investment. I went to Relax the Back to get a kneeling chair, I found the manager to be very knowegable and that they were willing to work with me to find the right product for my needs. They let me try several styles and said that they have a 30 day period to try it out and if its not the one then I can bring it back and try a different one or get my money back. This is perfect becaue it will take me a week of sitting in it to really be able to tell if this is the right chair for me with my back condition. Thay seem very open to working with me to ensure that I end up with the right product. In my opinion the customer service is well worth the cost, These guys seem to only carry the higher end stuff, but if your back is as tempramental as mine, then the cheap stuff won't due and isn't worth the pain of discovering it won't due. read more

We recently purchased two office chairs from Relax the Back. We didn't exactly know what we wanted except that we wanted to invest in good quality, ergonomically sound chairs. Amber was extremely knowledgeable and very patient with us and did not pressure us at all. She listened to our needs (mine very different from my husband's) and expertly guided us to our wonderful new chairs. My husband reports his Lifeform chair is like sitting on a cloud (only much more supportive). I love my Humanscale. Because they are custom-made it does take a few weeks from order to delivery but Amber kept us apprised via email. The delivery went well and was on time. All in all a great purchasing experience. I can't say enough about the attitude and service we received from this mattress company. They had promised a certain delivery date. When their delivery vehicle needed service they rented a truck especially to get our bed to us on the promised day. When they forgot to leave the mattress protector they mailed it the next day at additional expense to them.
