In town for work and I'm a nail snob. Found Relax here on Yelp! and saw the good reviews and came down for a gel mani and spa pedi. Both times the pedicure was by far one of the best I have ever received in my life. Legit. They're THAT good. The spa chairs are like the Rolls Royce of massage chairs and the glass of moscato was a nice perk, as well. The salon is eat-off-the-floor clean and the technicians all take their time and do excellent work. The "worst" part is their extensive pedicure menu but only because it's hard to decide which one actually sounds best. They all sound amazing. I've tried 3 other nail salons in the Memphis/Bartlett/Cordova area. This one has been the highest quality for gel powder refills!

I needed an emergency appointment. I called and the gentleman who answered immediately found someone who could accommodate me and told me to come on in. I arrived 10 minutes later and I was greeted and checked into the system. I was immediately led to the pedicure chair with warm water waiting for me! The lady at the front wrapped my nails for me while a gentleman named Hugh did my pedicure. I was in a time crunch and they completely accommodated me. But without rushing, they did a great job. They use plastic to cover all bowls including pedicure and manicure bowls. Also they use a fresh set of tools and files per client. That is very important to me. I will be returning. I have been to this salon twice. Both times I had a great experience. I will say that my experience today was superb! Rose was my nail tech doing my pedicure. She was so nice! She asked for refills for my wine whenever she noticed I finished my first glass, and she was talkative, but not to the point where it's annoying. They are friendly at this nail salon and have a great staff. First off they have you check in as soon as you arrive. They have no pricing posted anywhere. I asked for a full set of acrylics which they said was $35 but then they wanted $15 more for gel polish. Outrageous pricing and the front desk staff were rude. read more

I was a walk-in today for a full set and a pedicure. I I was told to sign In and then signed into their system on the pad and sat down to wait. Three ladies walked in after me without an appointment also, and signed in. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the desk attendant verified the needs of the three ladies, that came after me l, and then walked one over to the pedicure chair. This is the only place I will get dip on my nails. Service is always fast but thorough. Everyone is nice and always offers a drink. Love this place. I can definitely recommend Nina & Leslie. I'm sure everyone else is awesome too though. Tip: bring cash to tip because you can't tip on a card. They do have an ATM, but it charges you so best to bring your own. If I could give this place no stars I would. If you're African American avoid this place. They workers are rude, not all but most. I had a appointment for dip on my natural nails at 5:30pm I had to get the dip that was currently on my nails removed as well and I was out by 6:00pm. They rushed on my nails and they looked terribly bad. When I said something to the lady servicing me she got an attitude and continued to do my nails how she wanted. I will never give this place another coin, and it sucks because I actually enjoyed getting coming here at a time. As I mentioned I had an appointment and tried scheduling with Tannah and was told she was not working and would be doing front desk, however when I was receiving terrible service Tannah was not working the front & in fact was servicing someone else. I have short nails because I lift a lot and these girls do not ask question or give me their "unasked advice" they give me their advice on what colors or designs that I've had in mind. one lady I had mainly complained about my length. I got them done one week by her and came right back with an appointment with Anna. (She's literally the best). 3. I think there needs to be someone there that speaks better English in the front. It's such a long ass talk trying to figure out what you want (Anna and the other 2 girls understand English very well) 4. I have had appointments in the past and ended up waiting for over an hour. You guys should be blocking out at least an hour when one of your ladies has an appointments with a specific person. Emphasize you want whatever specific person! 5. Like I said Anna Angie or Anne they've been amazing to our family smile even when we've messed up the nail in the salon 5 seconds after it's done. They're the ones we like to tip big! 6. This is my first time at this spa! Overall, had a good experience. Leslie did my nails and my toes. I could tell that she knew exactly what to do and was a pro! One thing that I love about this spa is that it is very relaxing, which is why I see how they got their name! I also like that when I pick a color I do not have to worry about matching my toes with the same color if I am getting a shellac. They automatically find the color for me and I do not have to stress about finding a match to the color to my toes! What a fabulous idea. Very clean, nice staff, they offer many different and unique services, and they're very quick. Anything you get done takes the time stated on their website booking app (which is also very helpful because I hate making phone calls!). Very crowded. The person who was working on my wife's nails was very aggressive and very snatchy and jerky with her hands and feet. She was also very unkind to my wife. When it was time to check out and pay, that person walked up behind the clerk and stared over their shoulder to see what tip my wife would be leaving. Based on the poor quality of service my wife left a very small tip. The person who has been working on her nails made an ugly face at her in a very petty and immature manner. These are the types of things you can expect at this location. It is very common and in keeping with the culture of those who work at the types of places. That culture is always rude and always attempting to cheat you somehow. I would recommend finding another location with a different "culture" that is not only good at math, but also good at basic kindness/honesty. read more

I was in Memphis for business and needed a mani pedi. Reviews were great on this salon so I gave it a try. There was no wait, plenty of technicians, friendly staff and super clean. They use liners in the pedi bowl, sterilize all the tools in bags for each use and even the bathroom was spotless. Had an excellent plain mani pedi with Opi product which is the bulk of the polish. They do gel and dip as well. Will definitely return when in Memphis needing my nails done. read more

the front desk girls are the WORST. they have so much attitude and are so incompetent. they are not good at their job and double book people. they are rude and act superior. the other girls that used to work here were so much better. they wasted my gas when I made an appointment and made me come back later bc my appt was valid even though I got a confirmation email. no costumer service and the boss is complicit with them. they will tell you if you ask to talk the boss he is doing paperwork but he is sitting in the back. the boss vincent is also RACIST!!! never asks people of color for a drink but always goes to white people. read more

Update: My nails lasted for 4 weeks and looked amazing! I also came back to get them redone from Nashville while on another business trip. While on a business trip in the area my nail broke. I looked up to see where the nearest nail salon was to my hotel and it lead me here. I left this salon pleasantly surprised. The guy you did my nails did an amazing job. The service here is nice. The people who work here are nice. The nails are not. I have now had 3 bad bad bad nail experiences here. My dip or shellac is always bumpy and uneven. This past time I had my nails soaking off in a glove and my hands got really hot and have been peeling since. Just not worth spending $100. Nice people- but bad nails. Sorry also I heard that VSL employees have started migrating over here, which explains SO MUCH. I used to love Relax. I cannot justify going there ever again. read more
