Didn't find the ideal hiking boots I wanted yet I was very impressed with the layout and interior design of this store. I like how they resell almost like new used items and their library of books for sale. We bought some hiking books of the parks & nature trails in Virginia and browsed both floors. Most of the items I saw and wanted were outside of my price range and items I would not use so much or need. Definitely a store to check out for outdoor recreation, camping, hiking, and sportswear.

This afternoon I was at the REI store training with Semper K9 with my service dog, initially I was by myself (no one was around me) looking at bike lights for my sons friend, I removed my mask because I was unable to breath, my heart rate was elevated - which is usually an indication that I'm about to have an anxiety attack. I was with my service dog, which is the exact reason and purpose for her training. I was approached by Jacob and when the dog trainers came by to talk with me and ask how I am doing, I had my mask covering my face with it lifted on the side to help with the airflow and help my ability to breathe. We were approached by the "visiting manager" Kevin and he asks me to put my mask on or leave the store. I explain to him my mask is covering my face (it was angle on the side to allow airflow) but I can't breathe, And That my heart rate is elevated due to anxiety attack, I even try to show my Garmin fenix 3 HR, my bpm was at 160, my resting heart rate is normally at 68. He was only interested in telling us that due to equality and inclusivity practiced at REI I needed to continuously wear my mask or I can leave and utilize curbside. The Semper K9 trainer attempts to educate Kevin but due to the lack of understanding and analyzing words, Kevin had already decided we were trying to get away with something instead of utilizing his critical thinking skills and understanding what the guidelines from the CDC actually are. ...I shop at this REI quite frequently and Its always super chill and the customer service is always awesome but I'm guessing every one is on high alert because the "visiting manager" is on deck creating an atmosphere of stupidity. It's frustrating that people can't use their critical thinking skills to make good and common sense decisions. I would argue that avoiding an issue where I may need EMS by simply allowing myself to breath, calm my self and reduce my heart rate by simply removing my mask for a period of time is a much better alternative than the other. I'm not infringing on anyone's liberties or rights by lifting my mask and avoiding an anxiety attack, all I ask is that others not to infringe on mine. And lastly, equality and inclusivity was used rather fast and lose by Kevin; let's dissect this for just a moment... I was treated unequal and not inclusively when I tried to alert him of my disability, even after the attempt of explaining what was happening. I was dealing with my exact disability by having an anxiety attack and the "visiting manager" was not at all able to react appropriately. I was asked to leave and use curbside... seriously? I'm not asking for special treatment; i didn't need anyone's help or assistance and when Jacob finished, I assume he alerted others that I was not following their equality and inclusivity rules. Everything about the altercation was inappropriate and mishandled. I treat all people with kindness and grace, I simply ask the same in return.

Heading in to grab some new hiking boots for my friend.

Looking for hiking boots. The selection was okay, although they were out of my friend's size in some brands. The salesman, Will, was exceptional and he patiently walked us through our options and made suggestions that would help ensure a comfortable next trip on the trail. She chose Merrell Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots. I'm sure I'll be back for my pair soon!

This store is warm and inviting. There's a good selection for the things that I need to get at an REI. The online pickup is very quick.

Not quite as big as the fairfax or baileys crossing store but still enough to excite all outdoor fanatics.

I went into the store Saturday, January 18 and spent about $900 on weightlifting equipment…read moreincluding one major item which needed to be shipped to my house namely a Nike squat rack. I received notification from Dick's Sporting Goods and also FedEx that it had arrived at my house today however what I found was simply too posts which make up part of the unit but that was all. So in other words I received something that was totally unusable and didn't compromise the majority of the parts that were supposed to arrive constituting the whole unit. I'm including two pictures attached here. One is an actual picture of what the unit is on the website and the other is what arrived at my house. I called the online store location since that is where it ultimately came from and they didn't know what they were doing and it took me forever to get them to understand what the problem was even though it's a very simple scenario and they told me that I would either have to repack everything and let FedEx pick it back up and wait for a new order to come in or I could wait for them to contact the manufacturer and see how long it would take them to replace whatever pieces are missing. I got no idea of how long either option would take. So I spent time repackaging everything for a future FedEx pick up. I called the Woodbridge Dick's Sporting Goods store to give feedback to the store because they are the ones that I paid for this and they are the ones to put the order in and I have to say that I didn't get any empathy at all. I'm sure that I wasn't in a good mood when I spoke to them but they weren't at all helpful or nice about it. They weren't rude either. All I can say is, after spending a little bit less than 1000 bucks, I really thought I would get better service and results than this. I'm hopeful that UPS does come and pick up what they sent and then brings me a new box that contains all the parts so that I can actually have what I paid for. I don't know how long that'll take no idea but hopeful. I would advise anybody to be very careful shopping there to make sure that things are done properly.

I was visiting the store to make a return/exchange. Upon entering, I attempted to walk to the…read moreregister to tell the employee (Shams) that I would like to make a return. Instead of a polite greeting, she rudely said, "you have to get in line." I was confused and she repeated it with the same tone. I didn't mind getting in line, however there was only a woman entering the line from the other way. Nonetheless, my only reason for entering that way was to announce I was returning something because I lost my receipt. When It was our turn, Shams looked at the shoes I was returning and asked if they had been worn. They had not. I actually purchased 2 of the same shoes, just different sizes, and kept the other one. I said they hadn't been worn. She replied, "no one is gonna buy these" with an attitude. I said, "excuse me?" Still with an attitude, she said, "nothing." At the end of the transaction, I asked for her name and she said (again with an attitude), "Shams, why?" I told her so that I can leave a review of her service. I have shopped at Dicks several times and have never been met with such a nasty attitude, especially upon entering the store. I hope Shams can be coached or refreshed and on what customer service should look like, because what I experienced was below standard.
