Five stars. I'm a novice, bought a recurve bow on Amazon last week, wasn't working quite right. With Bowe's help, I realized one of the pieces was bent, so it wasn't working quite right. He had almost an identical one, so he assembled it and strung it for me, put the guide on - everything I couldn't get from Amazon in short, and I was all set. Then he spent at least an hour with me, showing me the basics of shooting and critiquing my form as I kept at it. He was really knowledgeable and patient. And he wasn't getting paid to teach. You also wouldn't get this from Amazon or YouTube. So yes, it's in an office park, it's a little Bohemian - as is Bowe - but it was great. Highly recommended. I'll be back. read more

Had a great experience at Bowe's & Arrows. Mr Bowe very thoroughly diagnosed the problems with regard to posture, position, sight picture, and release. He very patiently talked & walked me through everything until I was hitting quarter sized targets groupings. I then selected several new arrows which Mr Bowe cut to precision length to meet my specifications. I'll be returning to see him for all my archery needs. read more

After missing two shots at sika stags the day before I stopped in to have him look at my bow. He immediately found a number of issues with it and fixed everything on the spot. I stopped in at 4:30 on a Sunday. Bowe stayed there with me until after 6 (they close at 5) tuning and retuning my bow and coaching me until I was dead on. It was my first time at the shop and I'm only a few years into archery. I was extremely impressed with the patience he had and the amount of personal time he took to get me back to where I needed to be. I'm hoping that he's around for a long time because shops like this are a true rarity these days. read more

Bowe is a fantastic guy with a great shop. It's nice to meet a true professional in the sport; so rare. He really has a skillset & provides the recommendations that you won't find on Amazon or even Cabela's/Dick's. We came here after the Cabela's crew rigged our new compound bow indirectly -- a 20 minute rush job -- resulting in two wasted hunting trips. Hipsters and snobs - don't bother. I understand where other reviewers are coming from if they were thinking that everyone in this day in age should stray from their truth to keep language/business/lifestyle "PC". Maybe Mr. Bowe's truth isn't in alignment with today's cultural standard but this gentleman speaks his truth and DOES deliver exceptional customer service with his assistant, John, given you approach him in a respectful manner. He doesn't push a sale and takes the time to help a beginner out. I am a 20 something female who graduated magna cum laude from 2 private women's colleges. I took akin to him because of my time as a railroad conductor in Montana...it is the dark and dirty that sometimes comes with this generation's philosophy. Not necessarily my game or spit but I can respect anyone who knows thyself and stays true to thyself. Him and John stayed late to fit us to our bows. I gained a multitude of knowledge and perspective at no extra cost. If you're open-minded and know that your truth doesn't have to match the rest but that all can be respectful...Mr. Bowe is your kind of guy if you want to purchase from a true local archery shop and not sell out to the big corps. read more

Not great. Owner is kind of a jerk, very patronizing and he comes up with the prices (which are pretty high) off the top of his head. Not personable, confrontational, and all things considered not that knowledgeable. Save yourself a headache and some annoyance and drive an extra 20 minutes to go somewhere else. I can handle grumpy old timers much better than most, but this guy was mad at the world. Sorry Bowe, get your stuff together! Edit: just shot my bow for the first time after taking it here. Overcharged for used equipment & accused me when confronted. I feel fooled. Such a waste of time and money.

After reading some pretty poor reviews on Google I stopped by since I was in the area. The owner was really helpful and enthusiastic. I liked these hole in the wall small business. I'll be a customer again. I bought some youth arrows and as a novice archer the experience was very helpful. This isn't a big specialty store (far from it) but more a place for the experienced archer who wants to hang out and talk shop or order things. I wouldn't say "don't go here" but it is a bit like a guys garage hang out. I think it's a interesting knowledge center. (Good spin?) Def, check it out and see what you find. I wouldn't recommend sending anyone to Dick's etc for selecting a bow or arrows. You'll always need a specialty store for this sport. Personally the best in the area is Hoffman's past Gainesville VA. Totally awesome people. In Manassas there is Extreme (formerly B&B) for Hoyt but the people rock at Hoffman's. (Mathews dealer) Bowes has a very special interest in bow fishing and holds a tournie each year. Worth checking out. Don't blink or you'll miss this hole in the wall. read more

I read all the reviews and braced myself when I walked in. No its not a country club, but if you want your bow dialed in right... he is the man. I had never shot a bow before he set me up with my new compound bow and showed me how to shoot it. I was hitting bulleye dead on in about 10 minutes. Good guy I would recommend and will be back to get my arrows cut! read more

Listen to the other posters here. Horrible. I took my girlfriend there to pick up a rest for her bow. And the owner "Bowe" is just an ass. He offered to help her with proper technique. So we went ahed and had him show her how to properly use her bow. When it was time to leave, he charged me $75!! Anyways, we got her arrow rest for $15 and left. We will never be going back there again. read more

Do NOT go here. What a colossal waste of time. This "store" looks like the back of someone's garage. The owner is rude - and the "store" has couches, TVs, empty food containers, and litter all over the store. It literally looks like he sleeps there. They have no selection and don't even bother to try to help. Go to Dawson's in Woodbridge instead, Dick's, or Bass Pro. read more

I bought my bow here. Rob spent quit a bit of time with me. He walked me through a couple of different set ups, tuned the bow and had me shoot until I was hitting the bullseye. He's a little gruff, but I kind of like that. His shop reminds me of the small garage shops back home. I'll definitely be back. Amazing!!! No this is not your typical shop, you will be surprised with the location and owner but in no way should you be afraid by the other reviews! On Black Friday no ordinary place would service my new bow, not only was this man willing to help he also stayed open late for me and my family!! He treated us like normal people not as people he was desperate to get money from, he not only serviced my bow but he also let me shoot to make sure everything was to my liking, he gave me pointers and even joked with my husband! They have their family dog at the establishment who was so sweet to my 2 year old! All in all I had an amazing experience here, it's a small town feel in the big city and I couldn't have left any happier!!!! read more

Long overdue review- I bought my first bow here many years ago and Bowe did good work to make sure it fit me and would do the job in the deer stand. I also was able to order a bow case for a later bow from him easily enough and the location isn't that bad. I brought my younger sister by on one of my trips there and he was polite and funny with her; nothing offensive whatsoever. I owe him a return trip just to say hello, and like many others I do like supporting local business and he is going to be way more knowledgeable than Dick's or another big chain shop. read more

I certainly do not like to criticize local businesses, especially archery shops, but I would recommend finding a different shop to visit. I decided to visit Bowes and Arrows after my peep sight came loose on my bow. A friendly young man greeted me and began to help me. I then met the older man, Bowe, who was not welcoming, grouchy, and at times rude. Basically, the shop has an uncomfortable atmosphere. However, my final bill is the main reason I would not recommend the shop. I purchased a tube of string wax, a peep sight, and asked to have the peep sight installed. The bill was over $65 when Bowe finished with my bow. He made repairs on my bow that I NEVER ASKED him to do without my consent, and then charged me for the repairs. Also, the kisser button on my string was removed WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Furthermore, repair prices are NOT LISTED in the shop. Respectable archery shops always list repair prices. In my opinion, the experience was absolutely unacceptable. While at the shop, Bowe gave me some informative pointers on my shooting form. I was thankful for the tips, but he definitely assumed that I was a first time archer. I believe any 21 year old, who takes archery seriously, would be heavily annoyed by his condescending attitude. To Bowe's credit, he informed me of some great public land hunting opportunities. Also, he told me of some areas that I should try to gain permission to hunt. I am from North Carolina, so I was extremely thankful for the information. read more

Took my crossbow to get re-strung today and thought the owner did good work. It only took about 35 minutes. My only complaint was it cost $45 which is hard to swallow when Cabelas does it for free. However, I have no problem supporting small local businesses.. read more

Robbie Bowe know a lot about archery and how to help you be a better shooter and hunter. He is rough around the edges so..... put your big boy pants on and get over it. Once you do you will find he has forgotten more than most "professionals" know about archery. As to pricing, he is fair... ask what things cost first and he will tell you. I was skeptical about this place after reading some of the reviews, but after spending about 1.5-2 hours there going over everything from proper form and technique to advice on bow hunting and fishing, I see that the other customers must have caught Bowe on a bad day or they are just too sensitive to handle criticism. I am a person who appreciates honest feedback, especially if I go to a pro shop for exactly that. Don't get me wrong, Bowe's personality is not for everyone, and many people could find him a little too rough around the edges, but he will give you his time and expertise to make sure you are a better shot when you walk out of the store. In the end, that is all that matters. If you are looking for a shop to help fix a bow or help correct your form, this is the place to go. I will be back very soon. read more

The owner Bowe spent over 2.5 hours helping me tune my bow and set my peep sight when I bought nothing from him to begin with. A lot of other reviewers wine about his personality and being rude, he does have a matter of fact way of talking to people but he is extremely helpful and knows what he's doing. I was told by a pro shop in Manassas that I need new strings and it would be $180... So I called around and got a better quote from Bowes and Arrows. When I get there the owner tells me my strings are fine and puts my bow in the press and repositioned the servings that had slipped around the cams, instead of trying to sell me new strings. Being a new shooter he help me tune my bow, re-adjust my peep and help me sight my sight and scope. He also cut some arrows that had broken tips and placed the correct diameter points. I bought a wrist sling and my grand total was $70!! The customer's service was the most welcoming to a new Archer then the other 2 shops I've been to in the Northern Virginia area. This will be my permanent Pro Shop. read more
