In early April l contacted Scattered Acres about getting an introduction to horses lesson for some of my grandkids. Autumn promptly returned my call, asked relevant questions (ages, sizes, personalities) and worked with both myself and the boy's mother to set up a time and plan. The lesson itself lasted over two hours and included both Autumn and Lisa from the farm to guide the boys through a load of great learning; horse safety, riding safety, care of the horse, getting them saddled, mounting, gentleness but presence (confidence); it was just excellent. I was also very impressed with the way Autumn and Lisa divided up the instruction. The youngest boy can be a bit timid and Lisa was great about encouraging him and helping him along while still making sure he was really doing what was needed. It was a great example of nurturing a student along but not just doing it for them. Despite the occasional rain, the time flew by and all 3 kids had a great time and kept talking about how "cool" it was and how nice Autumn and Lisa were. As it happened both the Vet and Farrier were there that day and as a group we also took time to observe what they were doing. I could not have asked for a better introduction to the world of equines than the kids had that day. Just as important, both the boy's mom and myself (who can be adventurous but always extremely safety conscious) felt that everyone (including the animals) were always being handled in a safe manner. Whenever even a potential safety issue was seen the boy(s) were called out and constructively corrected. I had contacted six farms in the area, quickly narrowed it to three, and honestly feel Autumn and Scattered Acres was the ideal choice and stood well above the others. I have no hesitation totally recommending the farm, Autumn and Lisa.

The head lifeguard said no, the other lifeguards will watch him. Some special needs children require accommodations that caretakers like his father (me) are highly attuned to. The teenaged lifeguards would simply blow their whistles and scream at my son as they've done before. I am there to assist as needed so 1) we avoid the screaming lifeguards, and 2) so he can experience what all the other kids can do on their own. Obviously we didn't go on it. Thanks for understanding, SplashDown, we'll never go there again. Side note: Some of these lifeguards hate their life and shouldn't be there.

The bass caught have been small. Used to find the area by the water containment to be top notch. Now I use the walk our dock that's got a roof on it. This is a great structure to relax by the water, yet the fishing quality has dropped substantially.

This was a horrible experience for both my horse and me. I cannot and would not recommend this facility for boarding. Horse care is lacking, making money seems most important. One issue is that my horse was left in the stall many more hours than I was originally told she would be, even on nice days. I had many discussions with staff about this but it never improved. The most serious of my issues is that on THREE separate occasions I found my horse in her stall, during the day in July heat with NO WATER. That's 3 times. And it distresses me that there could have been more times she was left without water when I didn't go out and discover it. I of course brought this to management's attention, and although very apologetic, as I said, it happened THREE times that I know of. After the second time I gave the required 30 day notice. However when I found her the third time with no water I felt that for her safety and well being I had to move her immediately. I moved her out the next day, July 16. I was paid through the end of the month of July but was obligated by the 30 day notice to the 11th of Aug. I asked Tom, the owner, to compromise with me on only those 11 days. His response was that my horse was "content and comfortable" and he would "not entertain the idea of prorating" any of the 30 day notice. I paid it as my horses safety was primary. Although the barn managers are nice and personable overall I did not trust the care my horse was given. read more

This Barn has GREAT Amenities for the price! Nice BIG outdoor ring with lights, nice Indoor to ride in year round! Trails on the property. I like that both the Barn Manager/Trainer AND the Assistant manager live on the premises in case something comes up they can be there for you and your horse! They also have a lot of perks like holding your horse for vet/blacksmith, blanketing and worming your horse at no extra charge! Each boarder is assigned a HUGE walk in TACK locker upstairs to decorate as you wish! The Manger/Trainer Drew Van Hook can help break and train or even tune up your horse if you need him. He's always there to listen to any concerns you have about your experience there and is Honest, hard working young man. He has years of experience riding and training and has shown the Quarter Horse Circuit with success! he's a Great coach and is diligent in helping you achieve your goals in riding. Great environment, good communication, hard working/friendly staff, organized, and stalls are always clean. I started boarding my horse with Silver Eagle about six months ago, and it was the best decision me and my husband made. Prior to Silver Eagle, we had an awful experience with the owner and staff at at a stable in Warrenton, VA. After many months of debating what to do, our friends recommended Silver Eagle. Silver Eagle immediately made us feel at home and we are so thankful to be a part of the family. The owner, managers, and staff have done nothing but meet our needs and make our horse a priority everyday. Our family recently came into town for Thanksgiving and Silver Eagle was more than happy to let our family enjoy the horses and take them on a trail ride. Any concerns I may have, the managers always communicate with me very professionally to make sure that it will be handled. Silver Eagle is a 24/7 working stable, which is hard to find. We have two horses boarded at the Silver Eagle Stable. They are happy, healthy and safe. The care is better than we have found in other area stables and the value is unbeatable. Like most stables, there are some very critical boarders that never seem happy no matter where they board. You will find most boarders at Silver Eagle very content. Its hard to evaluate the quality of any establishment with a mix of reviews. You need to see this stable for yourself to see if it is a good fit for your horse. Most that see it, end up staying. It offers just about everything to include indoor and outdoor arenas, trails, lessons, clinics and training. The manager and assistant manager both live on the premises so two sets of eyes are present 24/7. read more

I have been at the barn for year and half and can gladly say that I love spending time there. The barn managers and staff are great and friendly. They look out for the well-fare of my horses since my work schedule sometimes takes me out of state for a week or so. I cannot imagine boarding my Horse anywhere else. I never have to worry about her care. When weather changes or the farrier is running late someone is always there. SES is like an extended family. I will say it rained the morning I went and for some reason that equates to spiders coming down from the trees and riding through their webs that you couldn't really see coming.... let's just say my first lesson of 33 was to *breathe*. Luckily, my instructor was in front of me and caught most of the webs before I did. Lol. Afterward, they were okay with me walking the grounds a bit which are beautiful and I watched some of the kids take lessons and chatted with the horses in the barn. It was really enjoyable. I'll be back.

I came to LBF feeling intimidated because, although I've grown up riding Western, I'd never ridden English nor tacked a horse, even though I worked at a horse farm during college. LBF insists you tack your horse, get him or her out of the paddock, etc. It's a real experience that teaches you to respect the animals, the sport and joy of riding. Britton is awesome to work with; she's kind and patient but doesn't let you off the hook. She expertly manages to keep your self esteem afloat while forcing you to improve. The farm is a surprise--it sits at the end of a nicer housing development and you'd never know it was there unless you were looking for it. Mark, the owner, is very cool and laid back, trusting of his riders and instructors. There is one arena, there is no indoor riding. It's not the fanciest of farms but that's just perfect for a novice like me who is already feeling a bit unsure. The last thing I need is a group of prisses casting sideways looks my way because I'm unschooled in picking hooves. I highly recommend this farm and Britton in particular. It's a great addition to your life. While it's a bit expensive, compared to other riding clubs and farms it's a steal.

This is mainly a field boarding place so if you're looking for a large (we're talking HUGE) field for your horse, you need to check out this place. The people and atmosphere is nice and a really big plus. I have been to many barns in the area and have found this barn to be the friendliest and most inclusive. Everyone is welcomed, everyone is friendly towards one another, everyone is like family. There is little to no drama. There are no show-off know-it-all Dressage Queens. There are no flashy, snobby Hunter princesses. There are helpful equestrians of all disciplines (about equal numbers of Western and English riders) that truly love and care for all of the horses here. It's a diverse barn that has everyone from trail riders and gaited horse riders to Hunters and Jumpers and everyone in between. Everyone is welcome!! It's a diverse group! About five years ago, as the CEO of a growing company of 20 professionals, I was struggling with how to address some growing pains and spice up our upcoming quarterly retreat. A friend recommended Adventure Links, so I scheduled a meeting with Anna, the CEO. Anna came to my office and interviewed me to understand my business, our challenges, and what I hoped to accomplish. And you're absolutely right that you gave Khol some extra vet care in the beginning which I knew about. It's also true that some horses thrive very nicely at your place. Khol IS in his mid-20s which is a typical age for a retiree. My objection isn't an overpromise of the care I believed I was paying for, and in fact I do appreciate the extra care that you gave Khol when he had a problem in the beginning. My hindsight wish is not only that I would have visited him within the first 4 to 6 months to see with my own eyes, but also that I would have been given a call to say that Khol was not thriving. He was seen by a vet when he arrived at his new farm and was clinically diagnosed with a body condition of 2 on a scale of 1 to 9, where 1 is complete starvation. He weighed 1200 pounds vs his healthy 16.3 warmblood weight of 1600 pounds. His blood work came back fine which indicates that his poor condition was due strictly to starvation. I'll tell you what broke MY heart was your statement when Khol left that you were going to miss "those big sad eyes of his." From the time I had bought him in April 1998 until the day I saw him leave, Khol had not spent one day sad. When he got to where he is currently ---without my even mentioning it --- the caretaker said to me "I don't know how to say this but I have never seen such a sad look on horses face." Khol is where he should be now, and I'm sure many of your herd will live out the rest of their days happy and fat at your place. For those owners whose horses thrive, your farm is the right choice. I would just urge you the next time you have a horse go downhill as drastically as Khol did, that you please alert the owner and give them the opportunity to rethink their choice. And to any owner considering your farm, I will again implore you to do as I say and not as I did, and be sure to visit your horse in the first 4-6 months.
