9mm ammo and holsters
Jerry T.

I went to this shop as I heard some good things even if it's a bit further from me. I wanted a new 9mm for my collection and they did seem to have good stock in both new and used. Ammo sale was great though so i did stock up. I wanted to update my review. I gave this place another try since I was in the area. Again, I stocked up on ammo for such a great price and this time everyone was so energetic and helpful. Even if it's out of my way and almost an hour drive, I will for sure come back for any gun related needs. Plus the sales they have are great! I was recommend to join the FB group and will be waiting to be accepted!

Awesome shop and staff

As someone who moved from the Eastern Shore to NoVA, one of my biggest priorities was looking for…read moreplaces to shoot. As an avid clay target shooter, finding a place to go (besides my gun club) was important, since my club doesn't have a Sporting Clays facility. A few people told me about Bull Run, and I visited for the first time back in October. I was impressed with the facilities. The county government runs the spot, and it is nice and clean! Pricing is fair. If you don't have a gun, you can rent one for an additional fee. If you need shells or bring shells that violate the rules of the range, there are boxes of shells you can buy on the premises. The one drawback I personally had thag doesn't directly affect me is if you bring someone who's never shot before, they will be required to do a mandatory safety course. The course isn't terrible, and my friend who has to do the safety course said it was very insightful. But if you don't have to do the course, but a friend does, you're gonna be waiting a hot minute before you guys can shoot together. Nevertheless, as someone certified as both a shotgun firearms instructor and an RSO, I value their commitment to ensuring everyone at Bull Run is safe.

Very professional, attentive, and entertaining to boot!…read more I recently attended the Fundamentals of Home Defense Handguns course with IDS and I have to say my entire experience was a positive one!!! The confirmation email I was sent before the start of the course gave me all the information I needed before arrival so when I got in the morning there I was ready to rock. The course took place at a beautiful private range and the class size really allowed for hands on instruction and one-on-one when it was needed. Both Evan and Ben are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to home defense and the use of your handgun in that scenario. We had the opportunity to run through some scenario-based training and the course was a good mix of classroom instruction and range time. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to familiarize themselves with firearms, learn how to handle your firearm in a defensive manner, or is just looking for more shooting practice!

We were all there at one point. But if you are ever presented with a potentially harmful situation, do you know how to train your mind and body to assess and react? You may think you will have time to rack a slide and/or release a safety mechanism, but most life threatening situations happen very quickly. The foundation for this course is safe and repetitive gun handling skills followed by hands on range time. Don't get me wrong, you'll still need to keep up with training and practicing but this course definitely teaches you the responsibility and implications of carrying a firearm as well as the confidence to do so safely. I should also mention that the outdoor range facility is absolutely amazing. Finally, I cannot say enough about the instructors. Mike and Dave's resumes and experience speak for themselves. They are great teachers as well as great people - all while keeping it fun. I cannot thank you enough and I look forward to seeing what you put together for the follow-up course!

It's close to my home (30 mins which isn't bad when you're in DC Metro region). 2. The facilities were incredible -- multiple archery ranges, a air pistol and rifle range that has produced a few Olympic athletes and often used hu the local schools air gun teams, a catch and release pond for fishing, campgrounds often used by the Boy Scouts in addition to members, a rifle and pistol range, and my personal fav and the one I use often (besides the archery range) is the trap/skeet fields. 3. This chapter is very involved with the community. From the aforementioned youth groups like Boy Scouts and HS air gun teams often partnering to use the facilities, to the wide array of educational courses offered throughout the year. They also hold other events like an annual picnic for people with disabilities, partnering with Fairfax County as a one location to do your archery test for the Fairfax County Parks & Rec Deer Archery Program, sanctioned ATA, NSSA, and USA Archery tournaments, and NRA Women on Target. When you join it'll be expensive as you pay the annual dues + the initiation fee. But as long as you keep up to date on the annual dues you won't have the pay the initiation fee again. You don't get your full range badge, which allows you to bring guests with you, until you complete your 6hrs of volunteer work. It's not hard and there's plenty of volunteer ops you can sign up for online. I was able to knock my 6hrs out pretty quickly. And if you do an additional several hours of work after getting full range privileges, you'll be able to get a discount on your annual dues next year. I've been to all but the air gun ranges and each facility is lovely. Everyone that is a regular is also nice so just come in with the right attitude and you'll have a fun time.

The rifle/pistol and skeet and trap facilities are very useable. The indoor air rifle/pistol facility has hosted several international matches and produced one Olympic Gold medal shooter and one other member of the Olympic team. It is the local site for the area high school teams. I shoot once a week and serve as a RSO once a month at the rifle/pistol range. The controlled rifle/pistol range might be a different environment for shooters who have frequented public ranges that have few safety controls and rules, but IWLA a much safer environment than I have ever encountered on public ranges in the area. My wife and grandkids were always welcome and enjoyed their time at the rifle/pistol range.

He is enthusiastic about the subject, clear in his delivery, and works hard to adapt the material to the background of the student. Turns out that he is also a very personable guy, which makes the training easier. Burx introduces a wide array of guns to you, and you get to shoot any or all of them. This is really very, very helpful in trying to figure out what kind of gun would work for you in any specific situation. I'd say that if you are contemplating a gun purchase, get trained by Burx first so that you can make an informed decision. If you are relatively new to firearms, or want to improve your marksmanship, Burx is also the right guy to go to. He told me things about seemingly basic stuff such as how to hold the guns properly, which other people seem to ignore. The difference between getting basics like this right, and not getting them right are huge. For example, the guy in the next lane had immense problems getting any kind of grouping on targets at any distance because his grip was wrong.
