Sure, we have Kebab, Donair, and Shawarma places in most cities but they just aren't the same kind of fast food heaven that Europeans are blessed with. Lisbon's Palacio do Kebab was amongst the top of the many kebab spots I visited on my recent trip to Portugal and Spain. The meat was cooked right, the wrap was grilled, the veggies fresh, and the perfect quantity of sauce. The service was outstanding. One of the staff was asking us and any other tourists where they were from with genuine interest. One stand out was that the hot sauce is actually spicy! Got to love when hot sauce is actually hot. My mouth was on fire and I loved it. Lastly, the price was right. Not the cheapest I've seen but pretty close. Good value any time of day or night.

After this lunch, we were both full until a late dinner. So this led to another visit the next day. We went for the Indian portion of the menu, and again, we were not disappointed. I had the chicken Tikka Masala and an order of Pilau Rice. The curry was sweeter than I'm used to (he warned me it was a sweet dish), but it was still awesome. The rice was perfectly cooked, and also had cooked onions which was amazing. So fresh and flavorful. She went with an order of Aloo Gobi and a salad. As an Aloo Gobi aficionado, she claimed it was one of the best she's ever had, and the side salad was large and made from fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, and cucumber. While I was here, the guy suggested an order of bacalhau fritters. As you may or may not know, bacalhau is known as one of Lisbon's many traditional foods. Having never tried any types of fish cakes, I took his suggestion and ordered one. Initially, I wasn't impressed but ultimately the salted cod fritters eventually grew on me. If I must describe it, these fritters reminded me of fish sticks except maybe just a tad on the fishy side. For an abundance of food and the cheap price, I'm glad to have found such a place!
