This restaurant was fantastic foodie start to our stay in Lisbon! I'm traveling as a group of 4, and one of our group had this place bookmarked thanks to Eater.com's list of best places to eat in Lisbon (this restaurant is 32 on the list) and we discovered it was located just the next street over from our Air BnB.
So finding the restaurant can be a bit hard cause there is no signage on the seat. You go up to these stairs, next to a kebab shop, and then the restaurant is located on the 1st floor, almost like a hidden secret. We lucked out as arrived just 30 mins before closing but the host said the kitchen was still open and led us to a table.
A quick intro about the food - I thought this was going to be an Goan Indian restaurant, but the menu didn't have anything like a fish curry, goat chacuti or vindaloo. So this is more of an Indian restaurant, than a Goan Indian restaurant. However the menu had so many amazing choices, that we got a bit gluttonous and ordered the following dishes:
1) Masala Papad as an entree - really lovely! I've never eaten papad served with tomato/ onion/ coriander and whatever masala powder they sprinkled on top of the papad, it made it delish!
2) Butter chicken - beautifully buttery, mild and with great cashew flavors.
3) Bombay Aloo- a bit too much oil, but fabulous tomato taste, good pieces of the potato
4) Chicken Dopiaza- probably my favorite- the curry taste was incredible and the chicken was tender
5) Shrimp Bhurji - the curry taste was amazing, but shrimp unevenly cooked - some bites the shrimp were overwhelming tough and over cooked
6) Tandori Naan - excellent! We got x2 between four of us, and that was just the right amount
7) Jeera Rice - fantastic taste and recommend
8) Mixed Vegetarian Rice - I wouldn't get this again mostly cause of the artificial colors used in the rice. Plus don't like eating eating raisins in my rice
Drinks
9) Bottle of House Red - got charged €9 for this, but pretty decent bottle
10) Mango Lassi - a bit too weak and watery for my taste
11) Water- small bottled water, no tap available
12) Beer - the usual Cobra Indian beer, nothing local served
Dessert
13) Sreekhand- decent, but was melting rather than cold. The favorite of my two American friends
14) Bebinka - the only Goan dish on the menu, this is a massively delicious seven-layer custard, caramel and coconut cake.
Our bill was around €73 and change so massively inexpensive for the amount of food!
