Supervisor of Social Work @ Regis Care Center was instrumental in helping me with all that I needed within the area of social work. I was at Regis for short term rehab because of an amputation of the small toe on my left foot (March 2024), which had a previous amputation of the left big toe in 2012. I was at Regis to get stronger and functional to go back home; now under home health care as well. Ms Cruz helped me so much with even picking up my mail from my apartment's mailbox and bringing it to me at the center to making it easier to be released when I was strong enough to go home. The latest thing she helped me with was SSA (Social Security) wrongfully reduced my benefits because they stated that I was living at the care center but I was discharged on July 18th! So Ma Cruz sent SSA my discharge paper and a letter explaining that I was discharged on July 18th. I'm very grateful to her and some other kind, compassionate staff at Regis Care Center. I am currently a client at Regeis Care Center, and I can unequivocally attest that it provides exemplary care in nursing, wound care, physical and occupational therapy. It is also very well kept, from the grounds to the physical plant, which is quite well-maintained and CLEAN. I find most everyone professional, accommodating and respectful. In fact, most people I have encountered here have expressed that they "love this job." The primary reason for my being admitted here is for wound care. The wound care providers are like none I have ever seen. They are very conscientious and fastidious. I can't compliment them enough! The physical and occupational therapy provided is top-notch. Clients are not warehoused, nor are they left to linger between "sets." The entirety of the staff is mindful and take note of all of the clientele. This facility's ONLY downfall is in its delivery of food services. I am at a loss to understand how it can be so deficient when every other department is wholly on point. I dare say that if there was improvement in this department, they might NEVER experience a low census, as I would expect people to be knocking down the door to receive their care. read more

Rehabilitation is the only thing that is top Notch and immaculate N.p.Brenda Thomas has a Beautiful soul and She Saved My Life...and she deserves to be acknowledged and she deserves flowers Apart from that...this place is so nasty ,the aides some of them don't wear gloves... they leave you unattended in soiled diapers for long periods, they also had me sit on an unsanitary bed pan which cause me to have a sore on my bottom. My grandfather was just recently discharged and was at Regeis for about 2 weeks. It was an amazing experience. When we arrived in the facility they informed us that they will get my grandfather to the prior level of function but instead they got him much better. My family and I have been thoroughly impressed with the professionals at Regeis Care on Baychester Avenue. The team is caring, organized, very professional. The facility is very clean and seems well staffed-not easy in the current healthcare environment in the US. This is not my first experience with a loved one in rehab but Regeis has been our best experience yet. It is difficult and can be very stressful but Regeis makes you feel like you are in good hands. This location is by far one of the worst facilities I've ever had to deal with when it comes to care for my mother. From the lazy nurses to the lying administration staff. This place is the worst. My mother has had her cash and cards stolen her clothes taken and when these things are reported the staff get upset that you are reporting it. I've had to contact the department of health twice already about the privacy of my mother's personal belongings and filed a police reports about it her cash and cards being stolen from a bed bound sickly woman. and the misinformation given by the administration staff in regards to the patients in there care is downright unlawful from the social worker all the way down to the head of nursing and physical therapy no one in the business seems to communicate. So today I am writing this review in hopes that it helps someone never choose to send your loved one for care at this place they need to be shut down as a business. They scam insurance by not performing the tasks they are billing for and extended the stay of the residents by not helping them and if you don't have someone around and checking in at all times they will leave your family to just suffer. We scheduled a appointment a week in advance which is what was told we needed to do to have my mother get her hair done and feel some what normal in these stages of her life and mother's day is this weekend. We called this location all day to confirm this appointment not to mention the only day thye offer this service is on Tuesday to have it confirmed servral times that she was going to have her hair done they even provided the time of when she should be getting her hair done which was 3:30pm this was confirmed at 2:20pm to be called at 4Pm and be told that the salon was never opened and that they were calling to let me that it was rescheduled for next week. And no one seems to find anything wrong with this treatment. I can go on and on about it but I don't have the time. Boycott this location at all cost they need to be restaffed or shutdown. read more

At least warm and taste ok! At least Physical therapy and Occupational therapy staff makes up with their competence and diligence! *update 3 Today's lunch was amazingly good! Everything freshly made! First time I finished everything here in days! Today was orange glades turkey wings, rice with peas, red cabbage... I mixed the fresh onion and tomato salad that came with my usual tuna sandwich! :) dietician and dietary staff stepped up! Also meds where on time today at 9am. Was able to do PT/OT on time! Last update! Health services r great! Food is hit or miss... Lunch and brkst was a joke! All processed and warmed frozen food! Lately when bad,,, it is the worst! other local hospital food is better than here! and this is rehab / nursing home! go figure! Make the best of what we have to do! :) no complaints on health care! My father was just recently discharged after spending three months at your facility. The building is very clean. Bathrooms in order. No smell at all. Front desk staff very polite . Rooms very neat nursing staff pleasant and attentive to all my fathers needs. Excellent therapy department. I was a recent patient at Regeis Care Center (RCC) and I have to admit my experience was truly A BLESSING TO ME! I was transferred via ambulance from a hospital to RCC for "Sub Acute Care" 3 Days after I had "Multi Fusion Cervical Laminectomy (C3-C7) with Instrumentation Surgery!" 2 weeks later I was discharged and walked out with a Rollator and plans for Visiting Nurse & Home Care. I arrived at RCC flat on my back! However, because of the excellent care and treatment I received from RCC's 6th Floor Staff!! I became homeward bound in record time. Everyone was pleasant and willing to assist me anyway possible. Daily concerns from the operating staff about my pain level, medications, eating habits, hygiene, overall treatment, was discussed with me and adjusted in a timely fashion if necessary. RCC is extremely clean facilities, my room was maintained 3 or 4 times a day and the Décor is like the Regency Hotel... Home away from Home. To RCC Entire Staff, (Physician, Nurses, PT, OT, Nutritious, Administrators and Maintenance) I would like to express my appreciation for the fine care you gave me while I was undergoing my recovery from surgery. It is becoming all to rare these days to find a company that goes to such great lengths to satisfy its patients/residents. This place sucks. My dad came here walking and talking a few yrs ago. He can't walk or talk. When I 1st was visiting him, he was always aware if who I was and he still is. He's had seizures. His legs are bent. His hands are clenched. I was told by his physical therapist that he was supposed to have had something put in his hands so they'd be more straightened out. When I had a concern I went to nurses station and no one was there. I waited. When nurse came, I expressed my concern and she said she'd check but she had to go downstairs first. That was almost an hr ago. I travel for an hour to visit my dad which I try to do once a month. My dad was in the hospital twice (a month apart) from nursing home. He got better care during those times. I dont blame nursing home 100% regarding his care, BUT they dont seem to care. A male SW who I spoke to regarding my dad's care was rude to me. I was already given the heads up about this guy, by another patient who is also here. I know him from church. It's just a job to them. There was 1 person since I've been visiting who seemed to be willing to assist me. My dad is an Army Vet and should be treated better. They need to hire ppl with TLC and care about patient's well-being. read more

(First off, its actually called Regeis Care Center) The first reason they get 1 star is because of the Director of Social Services; his name is Alvin Neu. You would think that at an organization where elderly are transitioned to after serious health issues and prolonged hospital stays that the staff would be aware of the dire need of family members to get prompt and helpful information about their family member and their property, not the case with Mr. Neu. A simple apology would have helped the matter and I would not be here writing about him. Instead, Mr. Neu seems to not want to take responsibility for his actions or job, which is a huge concern because he works at a nursing home, a place where respect and responsibility are probably important traits to have. Regeis Care Center promotes itself as a high quality center, its one of the top recommended "Rehabilitation Centers" aka Nursing Homes in the Bronx, for some good reasons. It is clean, they do have new facilities and modern equipment. It helps that they have a young and pretty face (aka the Marketing Director) representing itself at the hospitals to talk to family members. BUT I visited a few of the most recommended facilities and noticed that Regeis Care Center did not show me their "dirty laundry". What I mean is, the best judge of how your loved one will be treated at a facility is based on how their long term and most immobile patients are treated. If the ones that are the least capable of taking care of themselves are clean and seem comfortable you can safely assume your family member will be treated extremely well. Regeis only showed me the pretty rooms with the flat screen TV's that residents live in for the first 2 months of their stay. On the other hand Beth Abraham, showed me their "dirty laundry" and though sad to see humanity get to this level; everyone was dressed well, clean and attended to. 5 stars to Beth Abraham! read more

It gets one star because I hit it by mistake. The worst place to pick for long care for your family. The doctor is never then, the Social Worker is never then or can't be found when requested. They offer a barber who is never then. But they take your families money on time. They also don't keep up with the patients visits unless asked they let Medicare or Medicaid lapse without checking. In my opinion Regeis Care Center is one of the Best Rehabilitation Centers in the Bronx, with an excellent and caring staff, in a newly renovated building, that is clean and warm in spirit and filled with love. My mother was an extremely independent woman who was struck down suddenly with a disease that no one could properly diagnose. Living 800 miles away there was no way I could leave my mother alone and she wanted desperately to stay in New York close to her doctors while they figured out what was going on. To make a long story short my mother ended up staying at Regeis Care Center for 9 months while we worked with her outside doctors to diagnose her condition and make arrangements to bring her home. During that time the staff was absolutely wonderful in making sure my mother was clean, fed, mentally and spiritually cared for. Whenever her condition changed I would immediately receive a phone call from the head floor nurse followed by a phone call from the nurse manager. The phone calls would not stop with a message left on my voice mail, they would call and call everyone in my family until they received a person to talk with. I would return and visit my mother each month for a long weekend and the staff would always greet me with a big smile and an updated progress report on my mother and upon leaving making sure I understood the importance of returning and coming back to see my mother. It was heart breaking to see how many people dropped their loves ones off at Regeis Care Center and never returned for a visit but it was also so heartwarming to see the love the staff poured into each patient to make them feel loved, wanted and cared for in their new home, espcially the patients whose families forgot them. Regeis has a beautiful garden that the residence can enjoy weather permitting under the watchful eye of the staff and wonderful social activities every day. They made sure my mother's nails were done and her toe nails clipped, the Chaplin would come by to invite her to Bible Study and Sunday worship and the Psychiatrist would come by once a month to check on her mental status. It was wonderful to see how the entire staff from the Security Guards to the Director of the Facility knew everyone's name by face and treated them with respect and dignity. The first night when we arrived at the facility and the nursing assistant greeted my mother by calling her mommy and assured me that she would take care of her like she was her very own mother it eased the worry and concern in my heart in leaving her alone in this place. Each month when I came back to see my mother and if a new staff person was on her floor would look at me with concern because they had never seen me before I knew that she was being protected. If I ever had a question about process or protocol the staff was quick to return my calls and to make sure all questions were answered in a timely manner. When it was time to take my mother home Regeis would not allow my mother to be taken from their facility without the proper home care established with an Agency. A check list had to be met and they were extremely serious in making sure that my mother would be well cared for at home the same way if not better than the way she was treated at their facility. My mother and I pretty much interacted with every department and pretty much every staff person at Regeis and I have to say Five stars is just not enough to give this wonderful facility.
