I can't say enough great things about the school. The grounds are beautiful, complete with a huge private lawn and playground for the kids to run around. The Director of the school, Susan, greets everyone by name each morning. My son's teachers - Miss Emily, Miss Peggy, and Miss Stephanie - are so terrific with the kids and incredibly experienced (I believe Miss Emily and Miss Peggy have been teaching at Dillon for over 20 years and Miss Stephanie is a recent graduate of St. Joseph's education and early childhood development program). The families seem to come from all over the Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy areas. Dillon is not the closest school to our home, but we picked it after a strong recommendation from the New York Parents League's Brooklyn Advisor, and couldn't be happier with our choice.

My daughter is graduating this year from preschool so she just has a few weeks left at the center. My review is about our relationship at the end. Usually, our agreement was until the end of August,…read morebut they told us we could still send our kids for a daily rate. For six days, it was quoted $954. I need to send my kids and pay that because I am a Contractor hourly worker. September 1st, they called us even before lunch and said they have covid + case we need to pick up our twins. And the same day was my twins' birthday. We prepare goodie bags, cake etc. I understand they couldn't cut the cake because of the emergency, but they gave all the goodie bags away, not even singing the happy birthday song to my twins. Nobody thanked them for goodie bags; as you can imagine, the kids were very upset. They were asking me, "why everyone's birthday cake cut but not ours." Going back to the remaining days, they told us the school had to shut down for 14 days. I just paid six days for nothing. I basically paid $954 for half-day because they refused to refund me. I understand the circumstances if we are their ongoing family, of course, I can't ask that for an emergency days' refund. But I only made payment for the 14 days shut down period. It's beyond unfair to pay $954 for a half-day. I paid for the service I didn't receive. The worst part is I only paid that money to be able to work for my hourly job. I spent almost my week's work and was not able to work for the time being. The school gave us a discount eight months ago, and with not refunding my payment for the last six days they found a way to get back that discount. Not to response: I don't think the department of Health dictates you not to refund people. It's in your hands to refund, and you think it's fair to get paid for half day of service, that shows until when you care about your families. I would love to support a small business, but your business does not care about my situation at all as person who lost full time job because of Covid. We should be on the same boat on this understand each other. Sadly that wasn't the case.
