Our 7-year-old son received physical therapy at SSBL with Rosanna for approximately 7 months. When he started, he showed some body alignment issues and physical delays across several dimensions, which were affecting his enjoyment of many activities, sports, and social play. They were also beginning to impact his confidence. I'm happy to report that after working with Rosanna, he's now physically on par with his peers, and excelling in soccer--his favorite sport. A year ago, I would've never dreamt it. More importantly, we've seen how this confidence has translated to other areas of his life over the past year. We can't thank Rosanna enough for her patience, kindness, care, and commitment to our son and our family. Our son looked forward to every session and left feeling proud of his accomplishments and gains. We owe so much of this progress to the bond Rosanna was able to forge with him. Can I give 10,000 stars???? I have never been emotional when writing a Yelp review. But I have never encountered two people like Michelle and Rosanna before. They both possess a beautiful combination of intelligence, truly extraordinary expertise, and a deep warmth and love for what they do and the children they help. My five year-old daughter and our entire family are so very grateful that Michelle and Rosanna were a part of our lives. They taught us, challenged us, and comforted us -- all while helping my daughter achieve remarkable growth and development in so many areas. She now has skill sets that were either non-existent or under-developed. Equally important, she posses a newfound confidence when confronted with challenges, and she often finds joy in taking them on. My daughter is moving on to kindergarten. Sadly, we will not be seeing Michelle and Rosanna anymore. But I know her first year in public school, and all her years to come, will be even more enriching and rewarding because of the time she spent with Michelle and Rosanna at Small Steps. read more

My daughter has been in early intervention from 6 months onward, and I can honestly say that finding the therapists at Small Steps Big Leaps was transformational for her. The therapists here take what they do to the next level. They are incredibly knowledgeable, rigorous, and specific in the ways that they work with kids. There is no cookie cutter approach here. Each child gets exactly the help that she needs, in a way that is uniquely accessible. The therapists are creative, dynamic, and always kind, no matter what they encounter. They are also very articulate and able to help parents understand what we can do at home to help our kids grow in areas where they may be challenged. They really wrestle with a problem, and think and research new ways to help when something isn't working as well as they'd like it to. I learned things here about my child that I simply could not have learned in any other way. My daughter worked with Michelle and Rosanna from age 3-5. She came to Small Steps Big Leaps with a unique set of needs and a very strong personality. From the first moment, they seemed to understand and appreciate who she was. They engaged with her through imaginative play, effortlessly shifting from one activity into another in a way that was truly virtuosic. Because my daughter was having fun, she engaged more with the work, even when it was difficult for her, and she grew in profound ways that I wasn't sure would even be possible for her. She is heading to kindergarten with new skills and confidence. And I know better how to advocate for her. Michelle and Rosanna have set the bar very high for future therapists. Rosanna and Natalie have been godsends for us. My daughter was receiving speech and PT services at this sensory gym for a year before we moved to LI. We have gone to several sensory gyms and been through several therapists before landing here and it was a breath of fresh air. We saw great results with our daughter, she started identifying objects and greeting appropriately. He mobility increased and professed so much, she started walking. The space is quaint and clean, predictable and a very pleasant waiting room with plenty of books to read for kids and parents. Both Natalie and Rosanna collaborate to achieve goals with each child and they collectively work with parents keeping us informed through the entire process. They encourage participation from parents / caregivers and suggest many pointers to work on at home. Our daughter absolutely loved it while she was there, she still repeats so many games / songs she learned there and gets so happy when she sees photos of her friends and therapists. I highly recommend Small Steps Big Leaps for the quality of service and the sense of community we felt there. I still haven't found a place comparable! read more

We noticed my son had delayed movement milestones, starting around 9 months. This happened to be at the height of the pandemic, when PT could not be offered in-person. Rosanna, the physical therapist at SSBL, was able to perform a thorough evaluation, and put together a treatment plan, all through tele-health. She was flexible with treatment and conferencing, depending on the needs of my little one. Rosanna provided so much comfort and support to our family in a particularly challenging time. While one may not equate PT with tele-health, it translated so nicely! Cannot recommend the treatment and care at Small Steps Big Leaps enough! read more

The therapists at SSBL changed the course of my daughter's life, giving her the confidence, skills, and loving attention that kept her progressing strongly from age 3-5. Rosanna, Natalie, and Michelle are advanced clinicians in their respective fields, consistently attending conferences and workshops on the latest research and techniques. Each therapist is entirely up-to-date and scholarly about the theory and practice within their field. (I'm an academic and this means something to me.) While SSBL is full of kindness and fun for the children, the treatment approaches are coming from a place of the highest intellectual quality and professionalism. Rosanna, Natalie, and Michelle are able to explain what they're doing in detail so that the parent doesn't just watch or copy the treatment, but also understands the strategy and biology behind it. This was so reassuring to me. These therapists know what they're talking about and what they're doing. This is the only pediatric therapy center I'd recommend to a friend because of how secure I am in the effectiveness of the treatment children receive here. I'm so grateful. read more

Rosanna Lee, the physical therapist here, is wonderful! My son started seeing her after not making much progress with other PTs. He immediately loved Rosanna, who was so warm and encouraging, and her super-fun gym: colorful, interesting, geared toward little kids. He barely realized he was working most of the time, as she came up with games like climbing a mountain, swinging, crawling to pick up his favorite animals. Rosanna also went above and beyond in terms of coordinating with his speech therapist at his school, his teachers, and me to make sure he was getting where he needed to go. After seeing her for a year and a half, our son is so much more confident in his abilities, willing to try new things, and stronger. Couldn't recommend her and the gym more highly! read more
