Her guidance made me the best Mommy I could be for my son. He is now 5 years old and we moved out of NYC back to our home state of KY. I'm posting an update to my initial review, since Linda has replied to it…read more 1. As I stated in my original review, Linda did honor our request that our son work with her. But it remains true that initially she had him working with different graduate students from week to week, and she did not discuss this with us first. We were charged the full amount as well. 2. I did ask for the worksheets to be sent to me, after discovering the website we'd been directed to wasn't working, but was told no by some of the therapists/students we'd worked with initially. Linda only stopped in briefly to check in during our sessions for the first month or so, and I barely had a chance to talk to her. Then when I did get to see Linda more and talked about the website not working, she told me to search for worksheets on Pinterest instead. I was very disappointed that this was her response. 3. If working on one sound at a time is standard, and having two sessions per week is also standard, I respect following that protocol. But neither Linda nor any of the therapists/students we worked with ever explained either of these issues to me as a treatment plan. In fact, we were told to expect the opposite, that his issues were minor and could be addressed with once weekly sessions in a limited time frame. In our last session, Linda expressed surprise at "discovering" another articulation issue. She said something like "Guess what we found," while as stated in my original review, this had already been identified in my son's initial evaluation. I've taken the time to compose these reviews only in hopes of sharing information with other parents seeking assistance for their children.

At the time we started attending my daughter's ability to understand or communicate with us was extremely limited. Her own frustration was manifested in aggression and she went into her own world quite frequently. Due to the skill, compassion and diligence that Linda has brought to my daughter, she has become a completely different little girl. She is no longer frustrated to the point of aggression, she is frequently able to have long conversations with us about what she had done, her likes, and her dislikes. She is able to communicate her needs effectively to us and is present to us in the moment. Linda has just been such a gift in life for my daughter! 5 stars are way too little for this superstar speech pathologist.

My son had…read morelanguage delays undetected by the school - he is a very talkative engaged kid, which makes it hard to see. A year ago, I called Ilene to ask questions because things didn't seem quite right to me. In starting with Ilene, there was a nearly immediate improvement - he started asking siblings for a toy rather than just grabbing it, which reduced a lot of conflict in our home. Over the past year, his writing skills have improved substantially, so he is doing better in and feeling better about school. Remote sessions during social distancing are going well and seeing progress. :)

We have been seeing our speech therapist, Gabby, twice a week for sessions for approximately six months. Gabby is energetic, playful, and terrific with children, and my daughter (who is 2) loves her. We have also worked with Madeleine, Eliza, and Devon (as a secondary therapist in our daughter's sessions) and we think they are all wonderful. One of the biggest benefits for us was that this office accepts our insurance (Aetna) and submits claims on our behalf. I would also like to mention that our older daughter had a great experience in speech therapy here as well about 18 months ago. Ms. Chen does a great job finding the right therapists to work with children who are knowledgeable and caring. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone thinking about having their child tested for a speech delay!

My daughter's therapist is positive, engaging, and able to captivate my daughter's attention and effort such that she has been able to practice and make progress on the sounds that are challenging for her. This is a remarkable skill - especially when working on a skill that is innately challenging to a 3-4 year old. In the last year, the clarity of my daughter's speech has improved tremendously, and most importantly, she is a far more confident, happy girl as she is able to communicate effectively with friends, teachers, and family. She is happy attending and truly enjoys her speech sessions. Josephine and her therapists are professional, exceptionally well trained, kind and great at what they do. We feel so lucky to have found this gem and highly recommend this practice.

The office does not provide regular updates on my child's progress or return my phone calls, does not provide records when requested (likely HIPAA violation as a report upon request is not considered a full copy of records), and will not provide accurate billing necessary for insurance claims - a red flag the therapist has licensure issues. It took termination of services to get a correct superbill for my insurance after nearly three months without success, with the therapist cancelling all future sessions without having consulted with me, and claiming by email that she was offering a "discount" on therapy. Without providing a sound or documented reason why, the therapist is also pushing to have my son misdiagnosed by the city's early intervention program (the case workers from early intervention STRONGLY disagreed there were any issues) in order to continue billing us for appointments. This place only cares about lining its pockets, not advocating for your kids as they advertise.
