It took termination of services to get a correct superbill for my insurance after nearly three months without success, with the therapist cancelling all future sessions without having consulted with me, and claiming by email that she was offering a "discount" on therapy. Without providing a sound or documented reason why, the therapist is also pushing to have my son misdiagnosed by the city's early intervention program (the case workers from early intervention STRONGLY disagreed there were any issues) in order to continue billing us for appointments. This place only cares about lining its pockets, not advocating for your kids as they advertise.

After that they took him in alone. Each week we went he was more hesitant to go in. Last time we were there my son was crying and wanted to come out (I could hear well) and therapist really forced him to stay. For this age I think that is traumatic. I also heard other older children ( with learning difficulties ) crying during therapy but mostly nannies are with these kids so parent might not even know it. It should never be traumatizing! I am writing this after so long because I still feel angry to myself that didn't stand up for my child, I was an inexperienced parent.

But it remains true that initially she had him working with different graduate students from week to week, and she did not discuss this with us first. We were charged the full amount as well. 2. I did ask for the worksheets to be sent to me, after discovering the website we'd been directed to wasn't working, but was told no by some of the therapists/students we'd worked with initially. Linda only stopped in briefly to check in during our sessions for the first month or so, and I barely had a chance to talk to her. Then when I did get to see Linda more and talked about the website not working, she told me to search for worksheets on Pinterest instead. I was very disappointed that this was her response. 3. If working on one sound at a time is standard, and having two sessions per week is also standard, I respect following that protocol. But neither Linda nor any of the therapists/students we worked with ever explained either of these issues to me as a treatment plan. In fact, we were told to expect the opposite, that his issues were minor and could be addressed with once weekly sessions in a limited time frame. In our last session, Linda expressed surprise at "discovering" another articulation issue. She said something like "Guess what we found," while as stated in my original review, this had already been identified in my son's initial evaluation. Her own frustration was manifested in aggression and she went into her own world quite frequently. We worked with 3 city sounds speech therapists over the past 8 months. He had AMAZING improvement in the clarity of the speech and every single one of the therapists were so nice and fantastic! I was made aware of my daughter Londyn's speech disorder by her then teachers at Preschool. It…read morecame as such a shock because I was able to understand every word she spoke clearly. I immediately scheduled an appointment with her pediatrician and once again it was confirmed Londyn has an impairment. I spoke with several speech pathologists in my area, however no one seemed to fit, whether it was scheduling flexibility price or personality. I was referred to Having Our Say by Londyns preschool. From our very first evaluation, Shontaye was very professional warm and welcoming. She identified all of Londyns deficiencies and devised a plan best suited for Londyn to succeed. Shontaye worked with Londyn 2-3 times weekly for over a year. Together they worked on reading exercises and making Londyn aware of which sounds come from throat or the roof of her mouth. Shontaye also reinforced positive techniques such as reminding Londyn to speak like a turtle (because she spoke very fast) so that she can be better understood. That is actually a technique that we still use to date and I've made her current teachers aware of. Shontaye created a solid foundation for Londyn to be conscientious of her pronunciation and speed in which she speaks. Londyn has developed confidence and is less frustrated when speaking in public. Londyn has had two speaking parts at her school in front of large audiences and I believe that is all attributed to Having Our Say. Thank you for time flexibility in schedule and efforts.
