When I called to ask about the charge, I was told it was a non-refundable deposit to "hold the appointment" for up to three months, since I was supposedly taking a time slot from a therapist. That explanation didn't make sense to me, as there was no active appointment being held after I canceled. When I questioned this, the representative became defensive and dismissive rather than helpful. I was also told I had agreed to these terms, which I do not recall doing. I ultimately disputed the charge with my credit card company and the chargeback was approved. I want to be clear that I can't speak to or judge the clinical quality of the providers themselves. However, the office's billing policies and customer service practices clearly need improvement. I completely understand policies around missed or last-minute cancellations, those situations do take time away from providers. However, charging a non-refundable fee for an appointment canceled well in advance feels unfair and misleading. Based on the interaction, this seems to be a recurring issue rather than an isolated one.

Although Susan has the potential to provide excellent therapy, her financial drive overshadowed her craft. Unfortunately we chose to discontinue working with her when my husband and I felt that she cared more about our money than she did about our child's progress. Prior to starting therapy with her, a word to the wise: read the contract very carefully. Susan has a registration fee (a steep registration fee, that is) that will not be returned unless therapy ends on her terms. I would make sure prior to starting with her, that you and your family choose an end date to work towards and if need be extend your "treatment plan." Also, BEWARE: her make up policy is also very rigid! Regardless of federal holidays or her vacations, you are required to make it up (she once asked me if I was cancelling on Christmas). A very interesting policy too: even if you give her two weeks notice, you have to schedule an additional 2 sessions after your last session! Oh and get this - she wants you to apply the registration fee to that! So FYI: you're never getting you're registration fee, which for me was $500 since both of my kids worked with her.

This business is a real gem in the Inwood community. In my experience with speech pathologists their dedication is phenomenal, whether being flexible to a family's schedule to providing acute advice. In short I would recommend Premium Therapy highly to any parent. Addressing a negative review I read - Dealing with speech development issues can be a taxing event to any parent and it is very plausible for one to direct their frustration where it is unwarranted. With that said I want to put forth the following as my experience with the staff: i) the multi-lingual staff has always afforded the parents the ability to choose the language to carry out the sessions in, ii) Based on my conversations with other parents that bring their children here: The manifestation of traits that would benefit from consultation by a specialist are communicated as feedback rather than a diagnosis, and iii) ) I've never seen a child diagnosed with a condition other than a speech related matter.

My experience with Premium Therapy Speech Services was rather disappointing. I took my child there…read morebecause when I asked the pediatrician what I could do about my child's speech delay she said I should have him evaluated. After calling the first time I was promised a call back for an appointment but after a few days I had to call back myself to ask again. Communication and organization was really not great. When I took my child there, I have to admit the place looked nice and people were welcoming. Well, appearances can be deceptive. After the paid evaluation took place, I had to call three times (again !) to get a report which was useless because it didn't take into account (and admitted so) the multilingual aspect. After that bad experience I researched a little bit about speech therapy and found out that a child's vocabulary had to be evaluated by adding the words in all languages. Anyway, to make a long story short I took my child to another therapist a couple of months later and my child has progressed a lot. He started Pre-K in a bilingual school in September and his speech has improved a lot in both languages. PS : Any reviewer who claims any business is the best in the 5 boroughs either is lying or hasn't seen a lot of New York. It's fine for a pizza place but a child's speech development is serious matter.
