Absolutely no taste and sick people need proper nourishment. I was admitted and for dinner they served me process meat with gravy on it. No fresh fruits were ever served. One of the meal served, I had no idea if it was boneless chicken or fish. Either way it tasted horrible. Most hospitals have peanut butter and je sandwiches prepared in case the patient didn't like dinner or if they were still hungry after dinner but not this hospital. Parking in the garage was an issue because I drove myself to the ER after work and parked in the garage. I live in Connecticut so there wasn't a family member available to move my vehicle right away and the hospital administration DO NOT offer free parking to patients that are there for emergency and subsequently get admitted.

*This review is for the cafeteria only.*…read more This is a large hospital and the area is sometimes referred to as Montefiore Country, since there are quite a lot of offices connected to this hospital for several blocks. Opinions vary on the actual hospital and while I'm sure some aspects are quite good, others are probably not. For example, if my intestines were hanging out, I'd probably attempt to put them back in myself rather than go inside this ER. In fact, you're probably healthier OUTSIDE Monte ER's than inside. If you want to spend an average of 12 or more hours, want to be uncomfortable, and risk sickness, then the ER is for you. But I digress. I sometimes work in the area and decided to change up my lunch options and try the cafeteria - knowing that it IS a hospital cafeteria in the first place. Depending on the time you go, you may or may not find seating - but there is plenty of it during a less crowded time. They do clean, but it's not as frequent as they should. It's very spacious, so you don't have to sit next to anyone if you prefer not to. There is also a charging station for your devices inside here. The food itself ranges, but most is decent - the problem is the selection. Montefiore is a Jewish hospital, so the food is always prepared Kosher. Plus Montefiore is on their "health" kick, so you won't get the best beverage selection inside (unless you find the gift shop) and only what they deem as healthy (water, oj, diet/sugar free soda, etc). They go hard sometimes on their vegan specialties, so even if you're not a vegan have fun. Depending on when you go, they have pre-made sandwiches available. Again, Montefiore prepares the way they deem it and not how a lot of others would normally like it, so be prepared. They do have a deli inside, but I haven't tried it yet to see the difference. The hot food menu is different daily and sometimes the options are decent. They also have a salad bar, but it lacks during less busy times. The staff is usually ok. They have more than enough condiments to satisfy most. It's a little pricier than they have any right to be, but due to the limitations of food choices in the area, it's sometimes a safe bet and worth spending the extra few cents to eat a little healthier (when I want to Monte, not when YOU want to) at times. Also some of the businesses in the area don't have adequate seating for lunch options, so this is where the added value (to me) is. Parking is horrendous. The area is busy and the main streets are metered. There is plenty of signage for alternate side and just general no parking, so unless you're on foot or use mass transit and are going to be in the area anyway, I'd never come here just for this place. Again, I sometimes work in the area, so it's ok for me. Monte's parking garages are often full and overcharge (even for employees). So say what you will about the actual hospital and it's surrounding facilities, but as far as their cafeteria goes, it isn't a bad choice in the area at times.

My son was literally on the floor. From all the pain he was in. Not to mention that the emergency room was extremely dirty and disgusting. Like someone popped on the chair and floor. Extremely toxic! And UNHEALTHY FOR PATIENTS.. Not one staff member or nurse nor doctor helped him or even asked him. If he needed a wheel chair? And sadly wasn't given pain medication until almost 2 hours later. Carefully review the camera footage from the emergency room. I will be filing a complaint with the board / dept of health. These issues should definitely be taken serious. And have a NYS inspector investigate. I'm sure they will find more than what they're actually looking for. Doctors don't update patients. Rudely dismissed when patients have questions . Also I would've never rated this hospital. But yelp is set up to give them sometime of star..

I checked into the ER around 10pm and was seen around 15 minutes later by a female doctor. (4-5 hours later) - At 3AM I explain that I wanted to step out to get some fresh air. ( it was exceptionally warm in the ER), I was told that I could not step out and if I stepped out that I would be charged again by a Doctor Elfar ..... because it was his choice. Meaning it was up to him if I could step out of the ER to get some air and comeback without having to go through the intake process again. Meanwhile, I was not told that my ER Doctor was changed, I was not notified of any results, essentially I received nothing not even a courtesy update. When I am seeking medical assistance from the ER and I'm sitting in the waiting room for over 5 hours, some information is better than no information. Stepping outside for a min won't change anything, especially if I am just coming back to wait for another 3-4 hours. (FYI- ER had less than 10 people)

Worked out for me as I opted for an earlier time which fit my schedule better. At the appointment I signed in at the desk and provided ID and Insurance information. The wait to be called in was 20 minutes. The next 20 minutes I had vitals done by the nurse and then an assessment by the medical resident or physicians assistant, he didn't clarify. Be aware you may not see the attending you scheduled with immediately. I work at a teaching hospital where it is common place not to see the attending until an evaluation is done by an intern or resident. My situation was relatively straightforward which I discussed with the MD for 5 minutes before we agreed on a plan for blood work and a return visit to review with the option of treatment with medications if the lab results warrant.

Complaint:…read more Montifiore Spine center is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with in the medical business. I got a call today, the day before my appointment with the PA Susan Paul, telling me Dr. Susan Paul has to cancel due to surgery. She is not a Dr. I called back and was told the only appointment available next would be a month away. Keep in mind, I made this follow up last week and multiple blocks were available. Now today, I am pushed back to a month away? This is unacceptable. My MRI results just came back, I have bulging discs, I am in pain, and this is unacceptable. I made a second call to request another PA and DR. This department has many medical professionals. A nasty phone rep named Tiffany verbally bullied me and basically told me I have to see Susan Paul and wait. She also felt she needed to tell me I have to deal with her only like my primary care. Keep in mind I have had 4 primary care physicians assigned to me in the last 5 months after Dr. Michealis resigned, so her logic is wrong. Tiffany continued to go "back and forth" with me in a very unprofessional manner which is contrary to proper medical decorum and customer service. I informed her I will be making complaints and notifications about this terrible patient care and service. She expressed no concern; offered no resolution, and said "ok." Her tone and attitude was bellicose. I have NYS patient rights and I will exercise them. Mintifiore"s spine center is absolutely terrible. It is no wonder Montifiore's repetition around NYC is the worst!!!
