We were connected with another charming and helpful designer, Jeri Lynn. She spent at least 30 minutes with us, patiently giving us the info we needed. I have no problem giving a 5 star review for this carpet installation but this could have easily…read morebeen a 2-3 star review if not for Sharee and the people at Floor Coverings International (FCI). The initial home consultation with Paul was great. He had tons of samples and showed us many options and gave recommendations based on our needs. There was never any pressure to buy and he spent quite a bit of time going over the whole process and answering all our questions and concerns. We decided a few days later to go with FCI based on our meeting and the fact that their prices were competitive with the other quotes we received. Then things turned South. We were told it would take about 2-4 weeks to get the carpet from the factory. After a month, they contacted us and said that the factory was still back ordered and it would be another month. They were very apologetic and ended up removing the cost of moving the furniture from our bill. The carpet order finally arrived and we were set up for an install on November 3rd. The installers came out and had most of the old carpet ripped out and the new carpet pad laid and started to bring in the new carpet. They started to unroll the carpet and lo-and-behold - not the carpet I ordered! I took pictures and called Erick and explained the situation. He was very sympathetic to our situation and even offered a good discount on this carpet if that was an option for us. It was a nice carpet but we were set on getting the carpet we ordered so declined the offer. We had to live for a month on our 1st floor with only carpet pads for flooring. Not fun! They reordered the carpet and installed it on December 5th. The installation went without a hitch and the carpet looks great. Here's the best part. Sharee negotiated with Shaw Carpets and got them to pay for half of the cost of the carpet. Even though this whole situation had nothing to do with the people at FCI, they offered to cover the cost of the other half. How great is that? Would I recommend this company to my friends and family? You bet! If I need more carpet or flooring in the future you can be sure that they'll be the first ones I call. Thanks Sharee and Erick! It was great doing business with you.

Pretty bad experience. Really all around a huge lack of communication-folks were being moved on and off of the project and I had no idea for the majority of the project. They told me I needed a subfloor which I had anticipated and left after an initial installation date. I heard nothing for 2 months and then received a call trying to set up a new date. They did waive my late cancellation fee after my patience had run out, but I did not get my deposit back. Not enough money to fight for it but enough of an issue to not recommend them here. I did really like my initial installer and the dude who sold me the floor in the first place, so that's why it's not one star. read more

So CAUTION, if you get any type of plank flooring, expect it to sound like they have lined the floor with sand or plastic bags when you walk around, because according to Flooring America, that is NORMAL??? I'm so bummed we spent so much money on flooring and just as much on installation for an install that is sub par and no one at the company cares. It is like pulling teeth trying to get them to respond and we have been very patient. This has been ongoing for months. I really wanted to love my floors, but every step is a reminder of all the money we spent on crappy product and crappy installation...do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

Old To Gold was responsive and quick with the quote and although their cost was higher than other companies we talked to, they could get our job done much quicker, which was great as we wanted to get the floors done before we moved everything in. Other companies were quoting us a month out or longer! The job itself was quick and everything went well. There were a few dark spots on the floor that they were able to sand out and finish nicely. We also had them interlace some new planks in a spot where the floors had been removed and never put back. Finally, we also paid them to sink and cover the nailheads that were exposed when we ripped up the carpet. We were able to cut some of the costs by removing the carpet and tack strips ourselves. After they finished the job I did notice a few drips of finish that had hardened on some of our newly painted trim and our side door, which was not a big deal but some might have been more upset about that. Everyone I spoke with at Old To Gold including the manager and the guys who came to our house was professional and polite.
