The Reeves Theater & Cafe is located in Downtown Elkin. The building was open in 1941 and showed movies. in 2013 it was restored and turned into a live music venue. The historic theater is beautiful and all the seats are pretty close to the stage. On the sides are box seats so more elevated then the center seats. The acoustics are amazing here. I attended a the Martha Bassett Show which was a live taping of a radio show and different people come to perform. The theater is unique in that it has its own cafe. I didn't get there early enough for a meal but they have pretzels, popcorn and bakery items. The staff at the bar was so friendly and made it easy to order. Make sure to check out what is happening at the Reeves Theater when in Elkin, NC as you will not be disappointed.

I grew up going to the movies at this theater. After I moved away and returned 40 years later, I marveled at the beautiful intimate renovation into a local music venue. My husband and I felt privileged and thrilled to grace its stage several times per year for three years with The Elkin Big Band, he being the band's rehearsal director, arranger, and alto sax soloist; me being the featured vocalist. Ticket buyers for the Big Band's shows told us often - at shows and out in the community - that they loved our part in the shows. We thought we had a friendly, professional relationship with the owners and staff. We were in fact donating our time and experience to the theater, the band, and the shows. When Elkin Big Band bari-sax player and self-appointed manager - because he threw his own money at it - became jealous of my husband and harassing toward me because heaven forbid a woman know and speak her own mind - he lost his temper one day and kicked us out of the band via email. This email was filled with character attacks and fabrications that served him to hurt us and black list us musically in this small town. The Reeves did nothing to stand up for us, I suppose because this control freak ortho nurse practitioner bari sax player band manager also happens to throw his money at The Reeves Downtown "School" of Music. We have been stunned and wounded by this treatment. We did not deserve it. But it's happened and has altered the satisfying life we built when we returned to my home town to care for my mother. It happened to us because Michael Beres, Debbie Carson, Chris Groner, and Erik what's -his name wanted it to happen, most likely to put one of the other local women, including owners' daughter and girlfriend - who perform in other capacities on the Reeves stage - in my position. Fine. The theater belongs to them, they certainly will do what they want. But it doesn't make the throwing under the bus-kicking to the curb treatment of Rick and Teresa Jasper right in any way, shape, or form. Surprised at all involved in this dirty dealing. ____________ Response to Ms Carson-Groner. My cause is to tell the story. The facts. Slander is what Beres and company does best.

Arrived to this unique old theater that has been converted to a music venue and diner. Clean facility. Nice clean rest rooms. No top shelf alcohol but a large variety of wine and IPA Beers. Wine choice and Beer served cold. We sat on balcony. Seating was comfortable. Sound and acoustics were good on the balcony. Had several other bands scheduled for month. Would recommend for a night out. Staff was friendly and helpful.

When in Elkin... go here. Go here to eat. Go here to sip on a drink. Go hear to listen. Go here to share time with friends. Go here to enjoy your evening. What an absolutely unexpected gem. The food was fantastic and open mic night was righteous!

I can't really think of anything bad about Reeves. The space has been completely gutted and rebuilt from its hey day as a dual movie theater into an impeccably beautiful concert hall. The acoustics are really great, which was a surprise to me. The front of the house is a bar and cafe with a great assortment of libations. I highly recommend Reeves to anyone in the Elkin area for a fun night out.

I was skeptical of the acoustics at first but once the band started playing I was more than impressed! Great spot to see a local band or performance. Seeing Big Daddy Love perform here felt like a perfect fit- 4 person band with a sound true to Appalachia (not only the literal perfect fit for the stage but for the venue culture as well) The cafe and bar have great offerings at reasonable price that make it a great spot to stop in for lunch or to grab a drink for your show.

This quaint little cafe is located in Rhonda, a few miles west of Elkin. When I pulled up, honestly my first impression was, "Oh. Not sure about this one." However, the reviews on Yelp were very good so again - don't judge the book by its cover. I went inside, cautiously, and was greeted by one of the employees. The cafe is small and the booth I sat in seemed somewhat unstable. I ordered meatloaf with green beans and a side salad. I actually enjoyed the meatloaf. It was very moist and tasty. The green beans were also very good. The salad was...well, if I go back I would probably select a different side as they had plenty of good options. I was hoping that the rolls would be homemade but they were not. All in all it was a nice experience.

Dori and I were looking for lunch one day while visiting Boone, and ended up in FARM, mainly due to visiting Boone Belles right next door. What was an accidental encounter turned in a fantastically spiritual experience. Like all my write ups, I am giving my opinion based on the type of restaurant, service level expectation and the price. The business model is to feed everyone who walks in whether you can pay for it or not. You can eat for free, pay $10 (or as much as you like), buy food tokens to leave in the token jar (passing on a meal) or work off your food in the kitchen or helping out... again as much or little as you want. The atmosphere is what your would expect in a cafeteria with folks servicing you off the line. The food is fresh farm to table and you only pay $10 for your meal, of which they have few options and basically tell what you can order. ... the food for the price was exceptional. There were folks from all walks of life from well off families to homeless folks off the street. The tables are tight and few in number, but not so much to be instructive. They are close enough to do one of my favorite things, meeting people and hearing their stories. So eat, meet and move on to make room for others. You really can miss it if you do not know it's there...look for it tucked away between Boone Belles and the Horton Hotel. In summary, if you are looking for a different dinner adventure, a good meal for services and price, and want to do some good in the world please check out the FARM Restaurant.
