I've tried to do business with them and have never been successful. They declined a brass repair of mine at one of their instrument repair locations which is now closed, but was very unprofessional about it. Last week my 13 year old and I spent several days choosing a new trigger trombone for him stepping up from his entry level trombone. We ended up choosing one on the Willis Music website with his middle school band instructor's approval and placed the order with Willis online late one evening. This was one within our budget and checked all of our boxes plus it was new...we thought we were going to need to take our chances on a used model. Credit card was charged. I woke up the next morning to my son still super excited asking when it would arrive, and that he had already been awake two hours watching videos and reading about it. I was really excited for him. Later that morning I received an email that the order had been canceled and a refund would be issued with no alternatives offered. They said it had been discontinued, but the manufacturer still makes this model just with a new backpack style case which is the one they displayed in their listing. They ended offering to get us that same trombone we had purchased (because it wasn't discontinued), but it would be $600 more than I had paid on their website the night before. They also assured me this $600 additional was a great deal. Such a scam and a waste of time. They certainly don't attempt to make things right in any way...unreal let down for my son. I wouldn't trust them and especially their website/online ordering. This also had our budget tied up in the authorization on my card for a week. We ordered a used trigger trombone on eBay, and will be taking it to Mehas Music to have it checked out, cleaned and any repairs.

They also run a fabulous program to rehab old instruments and make them available to students who cannot afford one on their own. We're lucky to have this gem supporting school band programs.

had an absolutely horrible experience with this company from start to finish…read more First, the scheduling was a mess. I called on a Saturday and was told I could be seen Tuesday morning between 8 AM and 12 PM. At 1 PM, I received a call apologizing and was told someone could be there by 2 PM. Nobody showed up. I then rescheduled for Friday morning, again between 8 AM and 12 PM. The technician didn't arrive until around 5 PM. When the technician finally arrived, he checked my breaker box (which I've never had a refrigerator repair technician do before), looked at my refrigerator, unplugged it, and told me to let it sit for 15 minutes and plug it back in. He then stated that if it didn't work, it was probably the circuit board. That was it. He pulled the refrigerator out but never removed the back panel, never inspected the components, never cleaned the coils, never checked the fan, and never performed any meaningful troubleshooting. I specifically left the back panel alone because the appliance instructions state it should only be removed by a technician. After paying for what amounted to almost no service, I decided to investigate myself because I couldn't afford to waste money on another service call. I removed the back panel and immediately found that the coils were extremely dusty, proving they had not even been cleaned or inspected. I also found that the fan was not running. The manufacturer's service manual was attached inside the panel, so I looked up the diagnostic information and retrieved the error code. Surprise--it wasn't the circuit board at all. The issue pointed to the fan. I was able to do more troubleshooting in a few minutes than the paid technician did during the entire visit. To make matters worse, I was overcharged by about $30. I was told over the phone that paying by card would be cheaper, so I paid by card. That turned out to be false. When I called the office to ask about it, I was met with attitude from the woman who answered. She claimed I was supposed to call separately to make payment in order to receive the discount. Not once during any of my calls was I told that. So to summarize: * Missed appointment windows and hours-long delays. * Technician did virtually no diagnostic work. * Incorrect diagnosis. * Didn't inspect or clean obvious problem areas. * Overcharged compared to the quoted price. * Poor customer service when I called to address the issue. I paid good money for someone to come to my home and do less troubleshooting than I was able to do myself with the manufacturer's manual. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this company to anyone. Save your money and look elsewhere. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Bass-ically speaking, these guys know their stuff!…read more When you walk in, you know you're in a die-hard Luthier zone. The smell of the wood, the shavings and sawdust on the floor, the parts hanging on the walls and the tables of work in progress says it all. I needed some tuning up on an Englehardt M1 3/4 upright of mine. I can play but I'm not a Luthier. My M1 is not the finest of basses. It's basic but solid. I knew that I wanted another set of strings on it and some tuning up of the bass itself. The previous owner seemed to get adventurous with some of his set up techniques and she needed a good professional workover. The boys cleaned up my fretboard, adjusted my sound pin, replaced my bridge with an adjustable used bridge and put on a set up used strings for me. The price for all of the work was about $600. Not bad. Now, if you're questioning the "used" bridge and strings.... A bridge for an upright bass is usually made from scratch. This can get a little pricey. The previous owner decided to "customize" the bridge that I had on the bass in a way that was not helpful. New strings can also get very expensive as well. I told the guys that I typically pluck but, on occasion, I like to bow. They set me up with a used set of flat strings that work beautifully for both. Not only that but the previous strings were chewed up and eating the fret board. Also, the former strings were more of a round wound type that were tearing my fingers up and would not bow for anything. The set that they put on there was perfect. In all, I was extremely happy with what they did. The best part is that they had it done in a just a few days. Now, this turnaround time won't always be that fast, but it was a huge bonus for me. Here's probably the best part of the experience. These guys are Craftsmen. They know what they're doing and they know how to explain what they're doing and why they're doing it. I learned more about the construction and inner workings of my instrument, during the drop off and pick-up, than I had ever learned before. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a very educational experience. Would I go back? 100%. This is the number 1 place that I would recommend, as it was recommended to me, and I had a great experience. They are professional, friendly and do great work. Whether you have a $500 instrument or a $50,000 instrument, the Luthiers at The Bass Cellar will treat you and your instrument right.
