The staff there was amazing, considerate and patient. We ended up with an extremely nice viola for less than what I had initially figured. They made sure it fit my wife to a Tee and everything was of good or excellent quality. The instructor I had brought with me was very impressed and said afterwards to me she had never been treated so well nor was a potential customer treated so well in all of her years teaching. Yes it was a 100 mile one trip for us from Columbus one way but worth it. Will be back again to buy a viola for myself soon.

To hold the strings in place? Then he told us 'You know you have to cut that down, right?(what a douche bag)' We told him that we have a luthier that will cut it for us. Apparently, that just offended his soul. He points to a frame on the wall and said, 'You see that? That says I know more than anyone else in the city!' It was an Associate's degree from the University of Indiana (Juilliard for meth addicts). The rest of the experience was basically him telling us how he doubts our project is professional (although we make more money than probably 70% of musicians-- not to be arrogant, I just know how this business is), how all the great symphonies come to him, and all the local schools bands. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this guy absolutely knows what he's talking about. However, if you play anything other than stuffy classical music-- find it somewhere else or online. There are PLENTY of places that'll cut a bridge for you. I guess he's just opposed to new customers.

I went in looking for ukulele strings, and browsed their ukulele and guitar section. They didn't have the strings I was looking for (although I didn't have my hopes up), they were mostly stocked with a limited selection of D'Addarios. They had only a couple cheaper, entry-level ukes. Their guitar selection was more robust with your typical selection of American-brand low-to-mid-level guitars. Willis had what seemed like a make-shift humidified room for their more expensive guitars, and that had a few entry-level Martins and some other pretty nice guitars. Overall, it's a pretty solid local music store to have on the eastside. It can definitely save some local musicians from driving down 275 to get to the Guitar Center and Sam Ash. It can also be a treasure trove for someone getting into music. But if you're more experienced and looking for something specific, it'll be best to call ahead and check if they stock your item.

I had a HORRIBLE experience at this location. I never post reviews ever (thus the length and…read moredetail) but was so mistreated here that potential customers should be aware before entering. I have been to countless music stores and this has been like no other visit I have ever had. I will do my best to explain what happened in an objective manner. From the moment I stepped foot into the store, I felt unwelcome as a customer and was not treated as a customer in the slightest. I am a professional award winning pianist with over 23 years of experience. I have owned upright pianos, grand pianos, and digital pianos. I know exactly what I am looking for in an instrument after having owned so many throughout the years. When I examine pianos, I treat the experience very seriously and meticulously. I have recently relocated to the Silverton area, and went to Willis to search for a piano to furnish my new home. I entered the store and encountered a young woman with colorful hair and a man (Kevin Schwallie). I immediately expressed interest in both digital pianos, upright and grand pianos to them, but was met with resistance and antagonistic comments. I tested out some pianos, expecting to either be free to do so on my own or having a sales associate explain the features of each instrument, but instead I was ignored and told not to touch the grand piano. I have played on pianos worth more than 6 figures in my music conservatory, let alone the ones I have performed on in concert halls, and yet I was ordered not to touch the grand pianos. That immediately extinguished my desire to purchase a grand piano from this establishment. The sales associate Kevin was extremely rude and discriminatory. I felt severely judged and insulted. Is it the store's policy to offend interested customers? I hope Kevin is reprimanded for his atrocious behavior and learns how to be a hospitable representative of Willis music. My experience at this store would have been so much more enjoyable if it weren't for his micro aggressive comments and veiled disparagements. I hope he is more welcoming to incoming customers and has a more approachable, friendly manner towards them instead of the insolent, uncivil, disdainful way he treated me. To make the whole experience even more revolting, my father had accompanied me and even he was extremely appalled. How disrespectful Kevin was to my father and I! I can still hardly believe and process what happened. I have visited countless music stores and have never been exposed to such impertinence. I have never seen my father so eager to leave a music store before, and we left fuming, not desiring to waste another second in there. I will certainly not bring my business here. I appreciate music so much I would love to support my local music store with all my heart, but I am sad to say that I am most seriously displeased, disappointed, and unimpressed. I sincerely hope that Willis Music Store will review this and improve the quality of customers' experience in their establishment, beginning with the behavior of the sales associates.
