When I lived in the Cincinnati/Dayton area, I studied both piano and flute at the Toedtman School…read more I had the privilege of studying with John Toedtman when the school was still located on Mosteller Road in the beautiful mansion there. Although it was a significant drive from my home in Springboro, I don't ever recall complaining about the distance. It was well worth the trip. John is an excellent teacher and a stellar human being. The fact that he still performs, for me, added to the credibility of his teaching: he practiced what he preaches (literally). Although it has been many years since I studied there, John and I are still in touch and still exchange ideas, stories, and recommendations on great piano playing and teaching. The school is a music school for life and the teachers that I have met are stellar.

We stayed for two improv shows and very much enjoyed them!…read more The prices for 2 shows for 1 night of entertainment is incredibly reasonable. I don't see why people wouldn't stay for the second show for a mere $5 more! I do like that there is small stadium seating and higher top chairs in back so you're not staring at heads. My main problem was the lights went out on me 3 times in the bathroom. I walked in after someone, went to unzip, and suddenly darkness. I used my flash light on my phone to try finding a switch and tried pulling on a light string but that wasn't correct. It came back but still went off 2 more times in my should-have-been-a-minute-tinkle. Also, it would be cool if they served alcohol, even if limited, but I did like the prices of soft drinks. I feel like everyone overprices but they do not. Highly recommend for a cheap date night for laughter. Plus there's tons to do in the area before.

This was their initial foray into the Dayton area, so there were lots of bonus door prizes and raffles. In the end, you took your piece of art home with you, ready to grace your walls with your creative prowess. Like magic or something! My *only* complaint was that, at times, the instructions weren't completely clear. But as we understood it, this was a training session for the new artists. Our pictures still came out beautifully. Also, heads-up - there was one guy in the room. I really wanted my husband to join me, but in hindsight I'm glad I took a girlfriend. That would have been very awkward for him. A solid 4-star time, and we'll definitely do it again!

It allows you to check out a place you might otherwise have never visited which makes it super easy to surprise someone. Guys, make the reservations online and take your lady out to dinner or for drinks and surprise her when the painting party starts! Our facilitator was Rachel and she was awesome. She dumbed it down enough that even I felt like I was doing okay! The fact that they visit different places to hold the parties is probably the reason why there are so few reviews here but the night I went if we had all reviewed there would be twenty more 5 star reviews on here. We all had a good time and it was fun meeting new people and going outside my comfort zone to do something new. Will definitely do this again!

We chose CCAC for our wedding reception because it was in the same neighborhood as the church where…read morewe got married. When we started planning, Raine was the event coordinator. She was immediately buffaloed by straight-forward questions, and she just would not stay organized or save/file any documents we supplied at her request, so I ended up having to make a packet of all of her info so she could keep track better. I really felt like I was her secretary, but she was supposed to be working for us! A few weeks before the wedding she was letting us know when to have our vendors come drop off our orders, but she would change the timeframe day to day, which led to me having to keep updating our florist, caterer and table rental people. Working with her added so much work on my end since I had to keep updating the vendors on when they could come drop off our order when Raine shifted the timeline and then sending the same information over and over since Raine didn't save it the first time she requested it. Luckily for us, Raine was replaced by Liz about 2 weeks before the wedding, and our experience immediately improved! Liz seems to be someone who is on top of things and cares about her clients. Liz was great about anticipating our needs beyond what we had already considered. As far as the space itself, the CCAC ballroom is a little bare, but we were really happy with how it looked with our decorations. They have a great lighting system, so we were able to program the lights on different modes for dinner versus dancing. Our guests had the chance to go around to the art gallery and onto the roof where there are a few firepits, so it was excellent for our guests who weren't big dancers. I think having other spaces for everyone to go gave everyone the chance to stay through to the end of the night. I was really happy nobody left early! For the price (about $4500), I thought the plastic folding chairs that come with the rental were a little flimsy and uncomfortable, so I splurged on banquet chairs from an outside vendor. My main selling point with CCAC was that it was walkable from our church, so I really didn't consider anywhere else. If I had worked with Liz from the start, and if CCAC offered better chairs or a little lower price I think I would easily give CCAC 5*!

My daughter decided I should step outside my comfort zone and give it a try, so she took me to a class at Pinot's Palette in Kenwood for my birthday. Well, she was right because I had a really good time! Luckily, we went on a Monday, when there was only one other painter there, so the instructor could go at a slower pace. When we arrived, we were greeted and then ordered a drink before the class started. There was just one employee there who was the cashier, bartender, and our painting instructor. I would like to share my experience with Frank and Seta Music over the last decade…read more When I was back in college, I made my first purchase from Frank - a relatively inexpensive digital piano. Frank made the experience easy and seamless, giving me a fair price and excellent service even though I didn't have a huge budget and probably didn't look the part of a serious piano buyer. I will always appreciate that he took me seriously and treated me well even though I was a kid. That instrument served me well for many years, but as an adult years later I became interested in the amateur piano classical competition circuit. I knew I would need a higher quality piano that could handle several hours of practice a day, so I purchased another much more expensive instrument from Seta Music. Just like the first time, Frank made the experience easy as could be. He let me demo the instrument multiple times in his showroom and left me alone for several hours in private to enjoy the piano. Delivery was prompt, he was helpful to arrange financing, and everything went as well as it possibly could have with my purchase and delivery experience. During the many years I have been a Seta Music customer, I have encountered a couple of issues with my instruments that required service from the manufacturer. Frank and Seta Music stepped up each and every time, always making sure I was taken care of. I can honestly say that I feel Frank has his customer's backs, and that makes me happy to be a repeat customer. As a repeat customer of Seta Music who has also experienced the high quality of after-sales support that they give (even several years later), I can whole-heartedly recommend Frank to any serious pianist. He provides good products, good service, and ultimately will take care of his customers. That is exactly the type of business I want to support.
