Reed and Hertig always has the best values in meat. Particularly when doing a cook out or party, they're always the source for meats!

I was not particularly impressed with this place. Maybe my expectations were wrong or too high, but…read moreI thought I would be walking into a normal, but higher in a butcher shop. What I found was a bunch of prepackaged and frozen meats. Not what I was looking for at all. Also, the gentleman behind the counter was very dry and really seemed like he was irritated to have to be working.

189 dollars for a frozen 20 pound "organic" turkey when paying for fresh. Yikes!…read more Knowing I would be out of town for a medical procedure the days before Thanksgiving, I ordered an organic fresh turkey that my husband could pick up two days before Thanksgiving. He brought it home in its box and put it in our refrigerator. The morning of Thanksgiving, I removed the packaging and the inside of the turkey was solid ice. I had to use an ice pick and running water to remove as much as I could. Since our guests were coming at 2:00, it was clear that there was no way this turkey would be cooked on time. By 4:00, the juices were still running red. Finally at 4:30 the thermometer showed 165. We let it set for a half an hour and cut into the breast. It was so dry on the outside you couldn't swallow it. The only edible meat was in the lower thigh area. My husband has been in twice asking for an explanation, assuming they would want to make this right. The young man said he didn't know anything about where the turkey came from or how this happened. My husband asked for the manager to call him. No call within a week, so he went back. Still no manager, but another customer was in there extremely unhappy with his service. At this point, my husband asked why the manager was never there and the other customer said, "Oh no, she's never here." The young man at the counter said he did pass on the information to her, but she was too busy to call him. This is completely unacceptable service, and we are left wondering: if our turkey wasn't fresh, maybe it wasn't organic either? No one could tell us where it came from, so it's hard to know. We will never shop here again.

Added a side of baked beans 9/10 for both the beans and sandwiches. Great portion sizes, the sandwiches were overflowing with meat. The sauce to meat ratio was perfect. Not too sloppy, but not dry either. Wishing there was a bit more coleslaw flavor but the pickles and onions made up for it. Coming from a Texan missing some homemade bbq, I will be coming back here again!! 10/10 service - We were told 20 min, we got everything in 5. Staff were incredibly nice!

Quick Snapshot - Fast service, excellent food, and reasonable prices…read more Detailed Review - If you find yourself in the Hillsboro area, this sandwich shop is well worth a visit. The café itself is simple, clean, and cozy, with a small outdoor seating area available. Their menu features a variety of sandwiches and burgers to choose from. On a previous visit, I tried the elk burger, which was excellent. This time, I ordered the roast beef sandwich, and it did not disappoint. The bread was lightly toasted, the portion of meat was generous, and the sandwich itself was hearty and satisfying. Service was quick and efficient, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch. While the space is modest, it is well-maintained and comfortable. They also operate a butcher shop next door, which has become one of my favorite places to purchase quality meats--I plan to review that separately in the future. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
