They use styrofoam in their meat packaging which means repackaging by the customer if you plan to use sous vide cooking methods. I can only assume sous vide isn't in their vocabulary because this packaging is idiotic. read more

Extremely high prices for beef. I was shocked to pay 16 bucks for an 8oz cut of rib eye. They didn't even cook it for that price. I am in need of a new meat supplier as walmart and safeway aren't very good. But this was not be it. Their chicken prices were reasonable but their beef prices are insane. read more

I've been meaning to try Matt's since we moved to the area. Finally stopped in this week to buy a couple of ribeyes. I was really looking forward to grilling them for dinner that night, but they were by far the worst ribeyes I've ever purchased. Service was friendly, but not inviting (e.g. "which of these ribeyes would you like?"). The shop was clean and well-organized. As for the ribeyes, the cap portion was decent, but the eye of the steak had very little marbling and was very dry and chewy. We each left half of the eye on our plates, sadly throwing away the most expensive meat (per lb) that we've purchased in a long time. I'll continue shopping elsewhere (anywhere else). read more

We entered their store we're only six were allowed at one time. Everything was clean and sanitized the meets are on display under glass. We got the special for beef for $300 and the meat is delicious. We also purchased the meat sticks which were the best we've ever had. I am NEVER buying meat from a grocery store again if I can help it. their customer loyalty cards are great. $20 off a purchase is a great deal. burgers: just the right marbeling..the best burgers I have ever had chicken: all of it is the best, I am partial to the thighs. Without the fat, they are juicy and amazing. Great on the barbecue. beef steak: just wonderful. I can't put it strongly enough: just do it. We splurge for the rib eye when we have family. Much cheaper than taking everyone out....and you can't get food like this anywhere. breakfast sausage: got some for free with a big order. Delicious mynfamily loved it even though they are link people. hotdogs: made right there and my family is no longer eating another including Hebrew National. snack packs: again, free with a big order. Get one. The cheese is high quality and you can sample their many flavors of summer sausage, pepperoni and jerky. their prime rib was why I came to them in the first place...it truly is amazing and the best you will find anywhere. we haven't tried their pork, but it looks beautiful and they have choices. Good freezer meals available like chicken cordon blue. I am confident this place will not sell anything that isn't the best quality and worth your time. the helpers are sweethearts and wrap it up the way you desire. They let you browse and give good ideas without the hard-sell. Please tip the helpers. I don't want them running off to another job! it is a bit more expensive, but the best is always more expensive. Great work! I had 3 hogs killed, processed, cut, cured and wrapped in a very professional way for a fair cost. Everything was done per my request as I had outlined on the cut sheet from the chops to steaks to the hams and bacon cure and they even make a hot Italian sausage and brats. I was in the store on August 5th.The store was clean, employees wore masks and practiced social distancing. The selection of items was great. Bread, dips, rubs and wonderful cuts of meats. We grilled and the taste was incredible. I bought some t-shirts that were a little over priced. They're good advertising so I think they should be priced lower. I've used a few of the butcher shops around the area and Matts Custom Meats has been great. This will be the third year getting our meat butchered here. They use vacuum seal wrapping which is great because I think it lasts longer and you can see the meat getting a feel for color consistency. I can count on them to butcher per my request and they are professional. The place has gotten supper busy which is a testament to how fair and good they are. read more

Took my bear in to matt's meats and am very disappointed. The cost ended being double than what they originally told me. They are very deceiving on the way they bill. What should have been 200 ended up being 400. I called butcher boys in Vancouver to see what they bill and asked them out the door price of what it would be and it was more than half less than what matt's charged. I recommend anyone taking wild game in spend the extra 20 minutes and go to Butcher Boys. read more

I've been using Matt's for several years now and couldn't be happier. He's professional, friendly and just generally a nice guy to deal with. Several other people I know use his shop, too. On top of all that, he travels nearly an hour to come up to butcher my animals. Just know that he's in such high demand that you have to plan ahead for an appointment.
