I truly wasn't expecting too much. From the outside, it looked a bit underwhelming, but I kept my…read moremind open and was I blown away!! This little boutique hotel is tucked away at the end of a very busy touristy area, overlooking the water and surprisingly very quiet and private. When you get inside the property, it transforms into a little hidden cottage somewhere in Europe or maybe it was just the nice front desk lady that set the mood hahahaa Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted. And yes, most everyone is always nice and friendly but this little Scottish lady, Gail she was the best! She made us feel like we picked the right place to be. She was funny and asked us questions to help make our stay even more enjoyable. Her recommendation to Copeta was spot on as we wanted just a little snack before our dinner reservations. Thanks Gail!! Now off the room, The Inn does not disappoint!!! Every single detail has been well thought out and the quality of amenities . The minute I walked in, I was literally blown away. We were welcomed with welcome drinks and a personal note, chocolates and flower. I loved this! Storage had plenty of space to stuff your luggage in with robes, iron and laundry bag for your convenience. Mini frig and bar avail too. Bathroom is huge and filled with Bvlgari products, great smell and plenty to use. The shower pressure is what you want after a long day of being out and if you wanted to take a bath, it's big enough to fit two adults. Included is a makeup mirror on the wall and also a full-length mirror. The bed is super comfy and pillows were different ( there are diff pillows in the closet if needed) but I had the best night of sleep away from home ever! We stopped by to get some wine and cheese before heading out to dinner and tho it was small the quality again, The view from the balcony is unbeatable. Beautiful sunrise with the best breakfast and enjoying a nice glass of wine over the moonlight was truly magical. Idk how we're ever going to top this stay. We were lucky to have Gail check us out again and she was just such a delight. I can't say enough that this is how customer service should be. I can't speak for others, but for me, I don't want to feel at home, (because I loved being spoiled here) but I do want to feel welcomed and part of and not just another customer. I want to learn about why you love this area and I want you to share all your favorite things so I can enjoy them too. Thanks for making our stay that much more memorable, Gail. Con: if I HAD to make any suggestions I would say to upgrade the bath towels. They were thin but most of all pretty rough like they'd been drying in the hot sun all day hahaha not a big deal but just in case you wanted to know about my least fav thing.

Our room view was beautiful! The water was calm and views from the room of the Bay were breath taking! Complimentary breakfast provided by the wonderful staff was a setting fit for a queen and king! The front desk, it didn't matter who was there they greeted us everytime. This place is classy but makes you feel the hospitality is down home. If you are looking for great hotel for your stay in the bay this is the one!

The EBLS is a treasure of an 1873 inn and lightstation just north of the Richmond bridge in our beautiful bay. Most guests stay one night which is enough to get the tour, the history, and to hear and see their amazing antique diesel-powered F2 diaphonic foghorn. But we chose three days for a full escape from the world. No time for phones or internet. We napped, played games, ate, befriended a lost gull, looked for seals, porpoises, and whales and found some. And we enjoyed the hospitality of Rae and Danielle, whose talents as innkeeper/boat captain/chefs/tour guides and keepers of esoteric knowledge made each day a delight. What a great place. You wake to the sounds of gulls and the bay's current, but there are no cars to be heard and you don't have to do anything. We can't wait to return in the future.

It was more than we could ever have imagined. We enjoyed the most perfect autumn weather. So that was an absolute stroke of luck. Tides were in our favor and the boat trip to and from the islands were comfortable. Innkeepers Danielle and Rae (seven months new to this gig) are/were incredible hosts, tour guides, chefs, and comics. We were the only guests spending two nights and so glad we opted for that. Enjoyed a beautiful view from our second-story room - West Brother Island and the raucous comings and goings of the island birds was incredible. Breakfast, happy hour, and dinner were more than enough and so delicious. And we enjoyed the company of other guests - many Bay Area locals but also from San Diego and Illinois. If you're a wildlife and nature lover, put this a the top of your list. Not only a wide range of birds, but also Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, and Harbor Porpoise were seen on our visit.

Once a grand mansion for some turn-of-the-century San Franciscan elite, it's now home to a bunch of uniquely decorated rooms that each feel like you've stepped back in time (think grandma's floral wallpaper, elaborate drapes, and an occasional doily). If you can, snag one of the rooms with a deep soaking tub--best decision ever after a long day exploring the city. And don't miss the rustic in-ground hot tub in the back garden--it's a dreamy place to unwind under the stars. Plus, the small rooftop terrace is a total hidden gem with sweeping views of the San Francisco skyline--perfect for a sunrise coffee or a sunset glass of wine. All in all, a wonderfully quirky stay that's totally worth experiencing!

However... as of 2026, I don't even know if it's open for business anymore. The website is dead, and people are saying they can't even get a hold of anyone. The building was sold in January and the business status is murky. All I know is, Marty and Connie were the beating heart and soul of this establishment. Unfortunately, people do age and eventually pass. I don't think that either of them has passed, but from what I heard, there was a sudden medical issue and they're not coming back. I hope that the new ownership can get it together and bring back this amazing place to continue as a gem of a place to stay in SF, but... not holding my breath. :-(

Yoshi showed us around when we arrived and give us a tour of the various rooms. The rooms feature wonderful Victorian pieces, my wife was in seventh heaven admiring everything! We asked if we could change rooms as the Pink Palace had better views, and Yoshi easily accommodated us - nice! A private parking lot is in the back; you don't have to park on the street. Our room was on the top floor and looked out over the Carquinez Strait. During our stay we loved watching the trains on the opposite shore, the changing tides, Egrets, Bay fog and the distant Carquinez Bridge. It was wonderful enjoying waterfront views without having to drive to the coast. The room featured three armchairs, table and chairs, nightstands with lamps, TV and mini fridge. Three complimentary water bottles were provided. Lovely art prints adorned the walls. The rooms have no air conditioning but they have portable units they can bring in on request. There was a good wind (as is often the case in Benicia) and that was sufficient on this day. The breakfast was amazing: hard boiled eggs (and an offer to make scrambled if we wanted), muffins, Bacon, cereal, rolls/pastries, bagels, cheeses, ham, milk, OJ and mango juice as options. Benicia is a quaint explore, lots of artisan shops. Look in on the One House Bakery for some delish sweets! Just a great stay, wish we could have extended. Look forward to a return visit!

As you'd expect from a Ritz Carlton property, the service throughout the hotel is excellent. Our check in was seamless with a complimentary glass of white wine to take with us to our room. We were fortunate to have a room on the 6th floor of the main property with a fantastic view of the the ocean and the golf course. The weather was warm and the sky was clear, so it as especially beautiful during our stay. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. I'd call it a mix of an upscale beach theme with mid-century modern styling. The bathroom was enormous with a massive tub and shower and high-end toiletries. The bed was so comfortable, with perfect pillows and a mattress that was just the right balance of soft and firm. I slept so well here. It also comes with a mini bar and separate fridge, a coffee station, as well as a separate seating area. The property is stunning, with a walking path along the ocean. Taking a stroll along this path is a must-do during a stay here, weather permitting. We didn't get to enjoy the pool, though its situated in a greenhouse-like structure off the main property. There is also an upscale restaurant, Navio, for dinner and brunch. The Conservatory for breakfast and lunch along with the Ocean View Terrace for drinks. Overall, we had a lovely time here, and I hope to be back in the not-so-distant future.
