Monte Cristo B&B was a home away from home. Clean, cozy, friendly staff, amazing breakfast (still think about the quiche). I would highly recommend this unique place for an overnight visit or an extended stay. I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in San Francisco.

The bath was beautiful and even included a Toto Washlet "bidet", which was a nice option.

There was not a lot of choices for my situation. PGH showed excellent ratings on my search engines. It looks like they've converted two Victorian houses. They have fixed them up nicely. I was told there was 19 rooms. The landscaping is pretty and there are some parts of work in progress. What really won me over was a call to Dennis; the front desk person. I talked to him inquiring about a room. The only room they had available was room 22. The room was nice enough, but had a sour smell. I felt it might be coming from the carpet The manager said they had put some type of exterior flashing near my window, which might be the reason for the smell. The room was nice and faces the street. I say this because there is a train that runs on tracks outside my window; which I felt was pretty loud. I would suggest bringing some type of EarPods. I went to bed at 11:30 PM and I could still hear the train running. Also, I found it a little annoying that the private bathroom for this room was located down the hall about three doors down. I was informed that there were six other guests sharing the same hallway. I brought sweats instead of PJs in case I had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. I had to lock my door, then go to the bathroom and unlock that, re-lock it and go back to my room and unlock that door. I would bring lanyard to attach the keys (they attached to a large cumbersome metal key ring) which would have made this process a little easier. They consider this property a boutique which is fine but I would've called it a bed-and-breakfast. I liked that they had a glass of wine and some light munchies for happy hour in the pretty living room. A typical continental breakfast was provided in the morning. If you are bringing a car, make sure to email and reserve a spot since there are only 4 parking places in the secured lot. Of course there's going to be an additional charge. The stay was OK since I was going solo and it was close to my restaurant, my entertainment venue. I felt it was in a pretty safe neighborhood. looks like there is street parking available.

Why not make a weekend of it? So I decided to stay at a hotel other than my usual and booked at the Inn at the Presidio. The Inn is charming, comfortable, and clean. The common areas were very cozy - it was a somewhat overcast to rainy weekend and was very cozy indoors. While I didn't partake of the wine tastings in the evening, I did enjoy the very nice continental breakfast in the morning. There are restaurants walkable from the Inn, one of which I enjoyed the first evening I arrived, and the walk from the Inn into the Marina neighborhood was an easy 20 minute stroll to restaurants and the Presidio Theatre, for an impromptu late afternoon after other plans went sideways. Staff were unfailingly professional and lovely, including quickly addressing one hiccup with my room. It was a fun, restorative weekend, and I plan to visit them again.

It's much smaller than the Lodge, and I liked that instead of a formal front desk counter, they have a more intimate set up in a side room, with someone sitting behind a desk and chairs for you to sit in while you check-in. Arcene was wonderful, explaining the hotel features and making us feel very welcome. The Inn is in a historic building and it is extremely well-built. The walls are thick, so you never hear your neighbors. We stayed in one of the suites, which has a separate seating area with a sofa bed - perfect if you're traveling with your kid. The seating area is quite spacious. The bathroom is big, as well. There's a Nespresso machine and bottled filtered water. Mini bar prices are surprisingly reasonable. They have wine and cheese every night from 5pm-7pm, including sparking pink lemonade for those not imbibing alcohol. Breakfast is also included - bread, cheese, meats, pastries, fruit, oatmeal, and hardboiled eggs, along with orange juice and grapefruit juice. There's a back patio area with a fire pit, so you can enjoy the outdoors. Parking is behind the Inn, closer than over at the Lodge. While there's no restaurant in the Inn, there are a couple of restaurants close by in the Presidio and sometimes there are food trucks around the grassy area. You can walk to the Marina, about a 20 minute walk to several good restaurants and shops. The Presidio Go shuttle takes you into downtown for free and leaves every half hour from the transit station. I love staying at the Presidio, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The setting is gorgeous, and you can walk around the trails and down to the tunnel tops. Highly recommended!

There have been a few times when the app didn't work, but the concierge was very helpful in getting us in quickly. Absolutely horrible experience--please note that staying here comes with hidden costs!…read more I was looking forward to staying here because of the location and cheap price; $80/night in SF over the weekend is definitely a hard find. However, from the very beginning to end ranged from confusion, annoyance, to plain nightmare. The check in process was confusing and and cumbersome. I was given no check in information, and there was no front desk. The intercom at the front door did not even work, and I had to call their actual "front desk" who apparently said they did not have my information on file and made me go through these annoying steps just to find my hotel room key in a lock box. The most frustrating and nightmarish experience came the next day when I lost the hotel room key (a physical key). I called the "front desk" several times but received no answer then finally got one after about 10 minutes. When I told the man at the "front desk," he told that he would have to speak to the housekeeper. After waiting for another 10 minutes, he informed me that I would be getting fined $200 for the lost room key, which is plain ridiculous, since they didn't have a replacement key (other than the housekeeper's key). I understand a $25 or $50 fee for a lost key but $200 for a freaking key???! After waiting for about 40 minutes total, he finally walked over with my replacement key and begged me not to lose it since that would mean the housekeeper can't even get in (how laughable). What's worse was that the other guests were able to use their phone or a passcode to get in since all the room had e-locks. When I asked the man at the "front desk" why I needed a physical key, he said that not all of the e-locks were working--including the one for my room. What a load BS. A horribly dingy hotel that can't even get its most basic sh*t together. Stay at this incompetently run hotel at your own risk or better yet find much better options.
