I had keyhole bunion surgery in 2021 on one foot, then the other. Initially, aesthetically the end…read moreresult was good. Be aware that this surgery may not fix the root cause of your bunions, which was the case with me. So I expected a return of the bunions, hopefully years later. My left foot was never pain free after the surgery. I was told by another podiatrist that I had a nonunion of the osteotomy and that there was nothing to do about it. I asked my orthopedic surgeon to take a look. Well, he found that my toe joint has collapsed and that I have avascular necrosis of the bone, basically the bone is dead due to lack of blood flow. I had an MRI to determine the extent of the damage and to determine next steps which may include fusion (best case). If the lack of blood flow caused more extensive damage so that fusion is not an option, I don't know what next steps will be. Be sure to do your homework and look at all options for your bunion surgery. I would not recommend this cosmetic surgery that can do damage that is awful to repair. My right foot has different problems--I have a bone spur growing upward from the toe joint. I haven't had it examined by a competent orthopedic surgeon yet and I don't expect good news. Lila R.

He botched it and now I'm left with SEVERE painful nerve damage. He tried gaslighting me when I tried to express my concerns about it saying I couldn't have any pain because he didn't see any redness or swelling. Really bad bedside manners. He would often ignore me and address my husband who was in the room.

I am currently a patient here. Medically speaking, they take care of you, basically. The nursing…read morestaff were attentive to basic needs like meds and snacks and water, and most were nice people. The hospital itself SUUUUCKS! They seem to be trying to cut cost everywhere. They no longer offer the large reusable drinking cups. Only small Styrofoam cups to fill the garbage with. I reused mine. The usual plastic wash basin, wet wipes, toothbrush, tooth paste, vomit tray type comfort items are no longer available even for those unable to use a bath or shower. I had to get someone to get me some from Walmart. NOW, the food! A meal plate has an extreme amount of shrinkage! Lets just say the amount of food would not provide a meal to my 3 or 5 year old much less to an adult. I had to use the vending machine or have food brought in, in order to keep from having hunger pains between meals and over night. Oh and the food flavor was horrible as well. An EKG was done, but it was unnecessary for my problem. The tech said they are performing one on EVERYONE they can. It was so obviously the hospital was padding the bill because I had no complaint or symptom even remotely related to my heart. I had to ask if it was to pad the bill and they could not confirm or deny that fact, just that it was policy, not orders from the treating physician. More proof of padding the bill. But after doing it they agreed it was really unnecessary for my problem. I will be reporting that as a fraud waste and abuse being an unnecessary procedure, Like changing the oil in a car for a flat tire. As far as the bed, all hospital beds suck. But mine felt like I was sleeping on a hard floor. And good news germs, check out the pic, my room was only cleaned every two to three days. That's not much considering all of the foot traffic that comes in and out of the room. I had a universal precautions class when I worked at a hospital. They taught that shoes, hands, and clothing can easily spread all those things in a hospital and compromise patient and staff health and safety. Shoes pick up human waste, blood, chemicals, dirt and yes germs. They fall off at random points and can at times travel quite a distance as well before dropping off. Due to my poor health I'm sure I will be in a hospital in the future, but not this one! It's gone down hill fast. I was discharged with an undetermined diagnosis. NEW I had to go to the hospital again Dec4. I went to Floyd for the same issue and the ER was full but I was only there 2 hours and was discharged with a diagnosis and ortho referral. Thanks Floyd.

I completely agree with the other 2 "1 star" reviews so I'm not going to repeat what they said…read moreexcept the part about Dr La Point. Talk about horrific bed side manner. Plain rude! He thinks way, way too much of himself. I have been having calluses removed from the bottom of my feet for about 25 years. I am just prone to developing them. Other doctors have just removed them within minutes and off I went until the next time. Dr. La Point made such a production out of it that the calluses were the only thing he didn't pay attention to, he led me to believe that I had an issue that would take many visits and could even lead to surgery. I was dumb enough to buy that. yes please be warned. he will put down every other Podiatrist to promote his agenda. he charged me for fake inserts and took x-rays that I did not ask for and has been hounding me for the payment of the x-rays for months because I didn't want to pay for them. after the third visit I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I've never experienced anyone like him.

The first thing…read moreI noticed was an underlying unpleasant odor that they were trying to mask with one of those essential oil dispersal devices. The overpowering aroma from that gave me stuffed up sinuses and a headache within about 10 minutes. While I was waiting to be taken back, what I assumed to be a lab tech dressed in scrubs brought a batch of syringes to the counter behind the reception desk and just laid them out on the counter and started filling them with no concern for a sterile working environment. The hallway leading to the examining rooms wasn't the cleanest I had ever seen for a medical facility and there was no indication that any attempt was made to clean the surface of the X-ray machine I had to place my bare foot on for imaging. The exam room was kind of a mess and when the doctor entered and looked at my X-rays he told me what a mess my ankle was in and if was a 12 year old he would have scheduled me for surgery as quickly as possible. I found that interesting since I wasn't there for any sort of an ankle problem, but had in fact had successful corrective surgery on the left ankle many years ago. The doctor quickly pointed out what a mess the original doctor had made of my ankle joint during surgery and that it was going to take him a lot of work to correct it. Well, the ankle wasn't the issue. I was there because I was experiencing plantar fastidious in one foot. After finally getting him to focus on that problem he told me that he was going to put me in an appliance to lift the heel of my foot higher. I asked him by how much and he said about 3/4-1 inch. Normally the root cause of this type of problem is the Achilles tendon being shortened and affecting the tendons in the arch of the foot. It also went against all advice and treatment I had received from other doctors prior to moving to this area a few years prior to this visit. I expressed my doubts about his solution and he quickly and arrogantly informed me that he had a degree in bio-engineering and wanted to know what my background was. When I told him engineering, he quickly veered off in another babbling direction of nonsense. I know some people hold him in high regard, but he is a condescending and arrogant individual that only wants to plow ahead on his path and not taking anything you say into consideration and does not listen to anything or any concerns you voice. I was pretty much seething by the end of the appointment and couldn't wait to get out of the building. In the end I followed earlier advice I had been given along with my own logical research, bought well cushioned sets of shoes with a low drop or no drop from the heel to the ball of my foot. This stretched out the Achilles tendon and completely relieved the pain in less than a month.
